It’s not a doomer post. They aren’t likely going to spend on any position players after adding Doyle and Bart, whom they can bring back next season, along with the players they have coming up next (Bonemer and Roch). They have already added what they likely believe to be an ace / #2 quality starter in Castillo and a normally solid late innings reliever in Brazoban. They still have young starters that they will want to give a shot to next year in Schultz, Thorpe, and even Shane Smith to a lesser extent. They will also have other pitchers to fill either a rotation or bullpen role in Hagen Smith, McDougal, etc. I truly think the trade deadline acquisitions were half of Getz’s next offseason. I could see them signing a cheap veteran starter and some bullpen arms, but I don’t see where they are going to spend all of this money as you stated.

I never said he was a viable playoff starter. He’s a project just like what you labeled Castillo as. But Adams was already in the organization and didn’t need to be traded for. Meanwhile, Doyle is probably a non-tender in the offseason.

Adams already had a nice debut for the Rockies last night. I don’t think it’s a crazy thought to think that Adams could have improved the team more for this season and going forward than a gold glove CF that can’t hit, considering this current team’s needs.

I never said Hays played CF. The Sox already had a CF that could hit better than Doyle even when he was slumping. Acuna also backed up CF. Doyle has a good glove but swings a wet rolled up newspaper these days.
