  1. I don’t know if anyone already posted this from a month ago and I’m not saying any team would have taken Maye over Williams with the #1 pick, but this sure didn’t age well. I just heard some sports radio guys talking about it, along with the strange timing to give Poles an extension. “Bears GM Mocked Drake Maye’s Game Film In Pre-Draft Process, New Report Says” Taking Loveland over Warren is still way worse IMO.
  2. And he’s only 67. Wrestling sure takes its toll. My dad is 80 and still mows and weed-wacks his own lawn every week. He also just removed an old glass block window and installed a new one last week. I only helped him position the new one.
  3. Sadly, not caring about depth has been a White Sox game for years. Hell, how often would they play a man short to avoid calling a player up and save a few bucks? And as well as they did in the Rule 5 last year, there’s no way you can count on those guys.
  4. The cheap White Sox aren’t going to give up on Burke in the rotation. I would say he’s probably a lock if he stays healthy through ST. They will probably sign one veteran starter for around $5 million and sign multiple cheap options for next to nothing to compete with guys like Cannon and Gomez for the backend. The rotation is going to look like a rotation that bad teams have.
  5. Finding a decent veteran starter for $5 million will be another fun roll of the dice. Relying on Gomez? I don’t see how that is even the rotation of a .500 team. Also, while some guys will continue to develop, other guys will no doubt experience a sophomore slump.
  6. It will be since it’s a home game. Wondering if Marquee or WCIU will pick up the game though.
  7. Jerry knows and laughs every time he checks his bank statements.
  8. This thread is about Jerry and his awful ownership of the team. I would say that looking at his 44 years of ownership would make sense as an appropriate sample, and 44 years is definitely not too small of a sample, nor would it contain recency bias. 7 postseason appearances in 44 years of Jerry’s ownership. That’s embarrassing.
  9. I never said the 2020 season and postseason appearance didn’t count, but come on, it took a worldwide pandemic to shorten the season to 60 games. How often has an MLB season been shortened, other than the 1994 season in which Jerry screwed over his own WS contender over money. Anyways, do you think the Sox still win the division in 2020 if it went a full 162 games? They had half a rotation by the end of 60 games.
  10. He is using recency bias of those two playoff years to apparently excuse the Sox for only making the playoffs five times in 30+ years, as if that makes anything look better for Jerry’s pathetic tenure.
  11. Anyone who doesn’t acknowledge this is lying to themselves. They only played 37% of a normal season and by the playoffs, they had half a rotation left.
  12. Regardless of the shortened season, getting spanked and not even looking competitive is a pretty trash outcome. Just stop.
  13. Considering the White Sox have only made the playoffs five times in the last 30 years, it’s ridiculous for you to call out Lip on his comment.
  14. Thanks. No idea how St. Ignatius played so well. They finished 2-7 on the season. That was BR’s closest game outside of the Mount Carmel loss. https://www.fox32chicago.com/sports/illinois-high-school-football-ihsa-playoff-first-round-matchups-all-classes-statewide.amp (6) Chicago Brother Rice vs. (27) Rockford Jefferson BR should crush these guys. It was Jefferson’s first winning season and playoff berth since 1993. That’s 32 years. They went 5-4 this season.
  15. And the fact that Varsho was never even moved after this thread was created. Regardless, Cease should have always been moved for prospects, not a 27 year old corner outfielder. The problem is that Getz chose the wrong prospects.
  16. But you just named the other problem. Poles doesn’t deserve to be around and yet we have to hope he can fix things. I really don’t want to watch him botch another draft.
  17. Fields actually had a good game and just eked out a win against the Bengals.
  18. Absolute master class in clock management there.
  19. Stopped up the middle but you still have all the time in the world to run it in a half circle to the right. Ridiculous.
  20. Caleb Fields. Hey, a Loveland sighting! Loveland over Tyler Warren. Awful.
  21. Sure, because expectations always increase, but he did a whole lot better than the Tribune did for decades in a few years.
  22. To be fair, I doubt WBWFS could do any worse than Hahn and Getz have done over the years. Afterall, Getz actually set the futility record.
