  1. Weird, cuz Elias already spent almost $60 million on two bats that weren’t exactly a necessity, when starting pitching is for the Orioles. $60 million isn’t going to get an ace but it could have already bought a decent starter.
  2. Yes, I don’t get what Elias is doing. How about just signing Quintana to whatever his estimated deal is?
  3. Yeah, definitely. But I saw an Athletic article that I can’t access but it talks about Houston “seeking sustainability.” Not sure if this mentions what they are looking to do. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5992938/2024/12/13/kyle-tucker-astros-cubs-trade-analysis/
  4. I thought the Astros were trying to cut some salary with that Tucker trade. Not sure if they would want to add Robert’s money now.
  5. Yep, that was the ask. Would have been a nice deal even with Martes busting. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/white-sox-asked-astros-for-musgrove-martes-tucker-in-return-for-jose-quintana.html#google_vignette
  6. Easier said than done. Suzuki was originally in this deal going to the Astros. He has a full no trade clause which he invoked. He wants to stay in Chicago.
  7. Cubs going after Luzardo now…
  8. It definitely did, until he came to the Sox and forgot to hit like he did with the Reds and Nationals.
  9. I can’t imagine the Cubs not resigning Tucker after the total price, but you have to think the Yankees will be gunning for him as well next offseason.
  10. Stars aren’t cheap. Now they have one.
  11. He identified himself as the hole? Excellent awareness by our GM. Sorry, I had to make the joke…
  12. Sounds like a Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings character.
  13. I don’t expect it, but I hope Vargas lights it up this year and turns the Fedde trade it into Getz’s greatest move ever. I will gladly eat 💩 to be proven wrong on that trade. Also, someone tell Frank to give Miguel a large supply of Nugenix. This is no way to go through your baseball life…
  14. Interesting. Which prospect did he like the most?
  15. I wasn’t referring to you. I remembered that you said the Cease trade was one prospect light. I actually don’t like that Getz traded for Fletcher and DeLoach, barely gave them much of a chance, and quickly acquired a Tauchman/Slater platoon that may mean even less playing time for Fletcher and DeLoach. He compounded perhaps a couple bad moves with even worse moves for veterans that really serve no purpose on this team. But we don’t even know if those initial moves (Fletcher and DeLoach) were truly bad yet because Getz didn’t give them enough of a chance. Also, Getz was here when Colas was acquired and developing. It’s annoying that it doesn’t seem like he will be given a shot either. Shouldn’t these “down seasons” be used to see what young players may turn into something? Just seems like a waste of resources.
  16. “Just win, baby!” Still the best @greg775 quote ever.
  17. It’s annoying that some on the “rah-rah” side won’t accept that someone can think that the Crochet trade was good but that the Cease trade was mediocre, and that most of Getz’s other trades have been bad.
  18. That’s probably because media itself is at an all time low in this country.
  19. Actually, I heard JR just issued some slightly used TI-83 calculators to the Sox data analytics team. A school near GRate recently upgraded to TI-84 calculators so Jerry got a great deal on their old TI-83’s.
  20. I think this is a joke. It has to be.
  21. Interesting. I just saw this BRUUUCCCEEE bomb, but he’s usually late to the party. It would be hilarious if @Kyyle23’s post above comes true and the Yankees gank Tucker right from under the Cubs nose. You would be able to taste Cubs fans tears on WSCR 670 The Snore.
  22. The weakness in your logic, or what I assume you are inferring, is that the Sox aren’t likely to be a truly competitive team in the next three years that Robert is under contract. If the Sox retain Robert and he plays more like he did in 2023 and Jerry is still around, is he going to let Getz give Robert a massive extension? The other side of the coin is the risk that Robert continues to get injured and underperform like he did last year and the Sox get nothing for him.
  23. Ah okay, I didn’t even think about a closer for this year. Bad teams don’t need to worry too much about closers. I guess Kopech was our closer last year? He led the team with 9 saves.
  24. I think the top 20 looks good. The backend 20 to 30 is where it drops off.
