- Sox name new bench coach
It’s on there. You just can’t see it due to the angle of his left hand. If you zoom in, you can see it. Also, from his Wikipedia page:- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
Very nice on quantity but where’s the HBK, the SHOWSTOPPA?!? I need someone better than Crawford to be that guy in a Crochet trade. Abel walks the world and Arroyo is tiny like Dominic Fletcher. Tait and Peete are so young, who knows which way they go?- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
To get 3 potential average to above average position players for 2 years of Crochet would be amazing. I’m guessing when all is said and done (in a few years), we won’t be able to say that with whatever Crochet trade actually does go down.- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
Agreed. It’s Newsweek reciting some Fansided author’s article here. https://fansided.com/1-trade-every-al-east-team-improve-postseason-chances- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
His strikeouts stayed high but his hits (and HR), walks, and ERA all did jump up in the second half. Is that all due to BAbip?- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
I definitely didn’t like it. Fedde was terrible in the majors with the Nationals and I thought he would suck here. Definitely Getz’s best acquisition to date, which he then blew by dealing him with Kopech for Vargas as a headliner. 😔- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
Do they still exist? I thought they were all outed as fake insiders.- Sox name new bench coach
- Montgomery story...
But it would free up a ton more payroll. Just imagine who Jerry would let Getz sign with all of that freed up money.- Montgomery story...
Someone has to carry on the tradition.- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
I heard he hurt his back from doing the Macarena, or whatever this is…- Montgomery story...
That would be a bit surprising, not that I think they currently have a better option. But they should still find one. Agreed. If this happens, it will be for all the wrong reasons — a strong showing in the AFL and upcoming Spring Training. He should have to start in AAA and prove that 2024 was just a down year. But like you said, a lack of options and probably some cheapness on Jerry’s part means this could actually happen.- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
I never said Taylor could be flipped for a haul. I said that I thought there were better fliers to take a chance on than some of the players Getz acquired last offseason. I also wanted Getz to go after Joey Bart and Victor Robles during the season when they were made available via DFA, but he passed. However, I do remember when @greg775, yes @greg775, owned you last Spring Training. See the screenshot evidence below. Game, set, match, old chap… 😘- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
I think the rotation can still be good but they are definitely going to rob from Peter [Crochet] to pay Paul [position player prospects]. But Schultz, Smith, Thorpe, Taylor, Cannon, and others can still be a solid rotation. But unless Getz knocks the Crochet trade out of the park, some young guys step up, and the Sox nail their drafts going forward, I still don’t see where they are going to come up with the lineup. Jerry isn’t going to spend in free agency.- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
Fletcher or Colas should already be that guy. May as well get some use out of them. Although Colas seems to be despised by the Sox front office.- Jose Abreu back to the MLB soon?
The Sox have a 25-year history of 1st round failures on the offensive side. I think we know the answer as to why the majority of position players that were drafted in that time span ended up the way they did. On the flip side, quite a bit of 1st round pitching successes in that same time span.- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
Agreed. I’d rather see Getz grab as many of these guys as he can, rather than even worry about dropping a couple million on the Slater’s of the MLB.- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
Of course. That’s why these scrubs were DFA. They are nothing but fliers. But I’d rather see either of those two outfielders at some point next season than 29-year old Gavin Sheets play another inning in RF.- Potential Crochet Trade discussion Thread
While you’re on my jock, take care of the itch on my left side.- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
Pham finished last season with 478 plate appearances and a -0.2 WAR. His final season line was brutal as well… .248 .305 .368 .674 Also, his numbers with the Royals were worse than with both the Sox and Cardinals. Pham will be 37 to start next season. Getz will bring in enough negative WAR players on his own just like last offseason, without us giving him any suggestions.- Austin Slater Signed to MLB Deal
That’s about right. Hopefully Getz goes after some younger DFAs on MIL deals soon as well. There are a few semi-interesting names being dumped… OF Brennen Davis (25, Cubs) OF George Valera (24, Guardians) SP Bryan Mata (25, Red Sox)- Rule 5 Protection tomorrow
I remember Montgomery had a back issues and an oblique injury in 2023. I know back injuries don’t always just magically go away. Does anyone know if there were any reports of his back flaring up again during the 2024 season? Like you said, I couldn’t find any news articles or updates on his back for this past season. Chicago sports media giving us that important news that we want! Just curious if his back issues would be considered chronic. Joe Crede still had a nice career but it was ended pretty early at age 31 due to his chronic back troubles. Hopefully Montgomery isn’t in the same boat.- Ryan Fuller Hired as Director of Hitting
Are you still arguing about guys the Sox didn’t sign? Machado is probably still laughing at the Sox. - Sox name new bench coach
