The payroll is already one of the lowest in the MLB. You may as well see if Benintendi continues his good second half into 2025 and then you can likely trade him without it hurting so bad.

There’s only one reason that a team would take on Benintendi and his contract in a Crochet trade, and that is to pay less in the form of prospects for Crochet. The return of a trade of Crochet and Benintendi won’t be “about the same” as a trade of Crochet alone. Teams don’t take on $47.5 million in salary over the next 3 years for free, and we all know that Benintendi’s .685 OPS and noodle arm in LF isn’t worth that money.

You just reminded me of the White Sox prospect (Micah Johnson) that reminded me of the Braves prospect that was traded for Sale. Vaughn Grissom. Some people wanted him as the headliner for Cease.
