  1. Guardians of the Getzy for sure… @southsider2k5TM
  2. So you just randomly brought up Alonso and Schwarber’s contracts in the same post for no reason at all? Scattered unrelated thoughts.
  3. Yeah, “guaranteed” would seem to indicate this clause was not included, but who knows?
  4. Someone really needs to photoshop this into a meme. New banner? Getz as Star-Lord, with WE and Cali as Gamora and Rocket Raccoon? 🤣
  5. I wasn’t referring to Korey Lee not getting claimed. I was referring to posters who said it wasn’t worth signing McGuire over just playing Lee because it wouldn’t make a difference. I know @Look at Ray Ray Run said that.
  6. Specific clauses like that usually aren’t reported anywhere so I have no idea where this Joe Binder dude of “Sox on 35th” got it from.
  7. How is that in anyway related? People want the Sox to spend money on good players, not sign crappy backup catchers for $1.2 million when they don’t need to. Go back to the McGuire signing thread. Most posters called this.
  8. Interesting. Never heard of that clause. It’s discussed in this article: “To that end, sources say, some clubs are asking the pitchers to sign a 45-day advance-consent form. Such requests can only be made to players with five or more years of major-league service. If the player agrees, the club can terminate his contract during the 45-day window for any reason except injury, and pay him only for the amount of time he spent on the roster. Veterans who provide advance consent generally lack leverage.” It would make sense that they cut McGuire now if the clause was included when they signed him because it has been around 35 days since he was signed on March 22nd.
  9. $1.2 million for 11 games and 34 plate appearances. Dude earned $109K per game. How the guy wasn’t signed to a minor league deal is strange.
  10. Best waiver claim Getz made over the offseason, even though it was a stupid risk to DFA him in early February. Luckily, no other team claimed him.
  11. I’m guessing $300 million on the low end if he keeps this up, primarily due to his age and potential.
  12. Yeah, because they are older. Vlad Jr. got paid so much due to youth and potential, but yeah, will likely bottom out on that massive deal. You are comparing a 26/27 year old to Schwarber who signed an extension in December at age 32 and Alonso who signed with Baltimore at age 31.
  13. Vlad Jr. peaked at around 6 WAR and signed his $500 million deal last year.
  14. Because you fall for his game like a lemming. 10-0. Cubs owning the world.
  15. Stir that salad bowl, baby!!!
  16. If he keeps going at this rate, what is he worth? Vlad Jr. is probably the best comp. Good luck, Jerry. Juan Soto (Mets): $765 million (15 years, signed 2024) Shohei Ohtani (Dodgers): $700 million (10 years, signed 2023) Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Blue Jays): $500 million (14 years, signed 2025) Mike Trout (Angels): $426.5 million (12 years, signed 2019) Mookie Betts (Dodgers): $365 million (12 years, signed 2020)
  17. Yep, he’s only 26. He’s passed them both up. He will be in line for a mega contract once he’s a FA due to his age.
  18. Bergolla is Madrigal v2.0. Not gonna fly in the majors.
  19. See if he can play CF and then they can dump Acuna.
  20. Completely missed this news. Then I really don’t understand taking a TE with their third pick. “The Chicago Bears restructured tight end Cole Kmet’s contract in April 2026, converting $7.65 million of his salary into a bonus to create $3.825 million in immediate 2026 cap space. This move reduced his 2026 cap number to $7.775 million while raising his 2027 cap hit—the final year of his deal—to $15.425 million.“
  21. Don’t tempt the master troll @ron883. He’ll have the Sox in the WS in his next post. 🤣
  22. A 4.7 forty time at 6’6” and 267 sounds pretty insane. But taking a TE with such a high pick is also a bit crazy considering the team’s needs.
  23. Ahem… I think the Bears will try to trade Kmet but ultimately he will be a pre-June 1st cut. The Bears don’t think he is worth paying $21 million over the next two years with Loveland taking over the primary role.
