You still don’t give one of the absolute worst hitters in baseball the most at bats.

I think I’d rather have our manager starting in RF. ?

Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"
So this is the same guy who would mercilessly rip Sox fans on Twitter that dared to question the team over the past few years?

Post deadline trades
This kid hit the cover off the ball, even with elbow issues? Makes me want him even more, and the TJ surgery just ensures that he matches the Sox timeline to competitiveness better, since next year and likely more seasons will be a losing effort. If Vargas even pans out, how many years of control will the Sox have left on him by the time they are able to surround him without enough talent for the team to win?

David Eckstein, 1 through 9.

Never, as long as those shakes keep bringing in da moneys!

Pedro Grifol, Charlie Montoyo, Eddie Rodriguez, & Mike Tosar Fired (Grady Sizemore interim manager)
Maybe we can give Getz more credit once he trades the rest of his flip candidates… Brebbia Flexen Lopez Sheets Oops…

I knew Getz had three children. I just didn’t know one of them posted in this message board.

Just ask Martin.

Fedde/Pham/$ to STL, Kopech to LAD, Miguel Vargas + prospects to Sox
Getz is a genius for not trading within the division!

Of course, but that isn’t the point. See my above post.

Why is it irrelevant? Yes, the Sox would have still been bad this season… that’s obvious. But it shows that Getz may have questionable player assessment skills. He sure didn’t seem to think Maldonado was done, while the Astros knew it all too well.

Zavala was worth -0.4 bWAR this year and his salary was $756,700. Maldonado was worth -1.3 bWAR and Getz gave him a guaranteed $4.5 million. The Astros knew Maldonado was done. Getz didn’t. It was a bad signing.

And it turned out to be a pointless trade because Julks is a soon-to-be 29 year old outfielder with a .670 OPS that prevented Colas from getting any at bats. Further, what good does a player like Vargas do for this team when he can’t play a position and has 5 years of control left, rather than 6 like a prospect that the Sox would have control over when they want to call him up? Even if Vargas pans out, the Sox probably won’t be competitive until the end of his control. With where this team is at, they should almost always be taking the promising prospect over a guy whose arbitration clock has already started. Also, please provide some commentary on the Dominic Fletcher trade as well. Finally, no one thinks Seby Zavala is any good. The point was that Getz could have kept him at a minimum salary rather than waste $4.5 million dollars on the corpse of Maldonado, whom everyone knew was absolutely done.

No, of course not. But you are the one who has posted this snarky comment in two separate threads now so I’m not sure what you are complaining about here…

Isn’t it surprising that posters on a Sox message board aren’t happy with the Sox ownership and front office when the team is on the verge of setting the record for being historically bad? I guess some people are fine with the Sox being the laughingstock of baseball. Low expectations…

The Sox aren't spending "right now"
I’m pretty sure Vargas was moved off of 3B to 2B and then LF because his glove is so bad.

Signings worse than Benintendi in the last 5 years
I never said the Sox couldn’t afford it. But it is a bigger amount to them and they won’t be adding much to it other than more of the same — dumpster diving signings. Posters who thought the Sox would be spending money with Eloy and Moncada off the books will be proven wrong next offseason.
-
Signings worse than Benintendi in the last 5 years
And Benintendi’s salary for 2025 will soon be 16.5% of the Sox payroll, once Getz drops the payroll to the rumored $100 million per Jerry’s instruction.
-
Signings worse than Benintendi in the last 5 years
“In the context of baseball” doesn’t mean much considering the Sox have never kept pace with the spending trends in the MLB. 5/$75 is still the most the Sox have paid any single player and they aren’t planning on spending much money, per Getz. So a player salary of $16.5 million per season is a lot to the Sox.
-
Signings worse than Benintendi in the last 5 years
It’s the largest contract the Sox have ever given out but somehow it’s not a lot of money to the Sox? That doesn’t really make much sense.
-
Signings worse than Benintendi in the last 5 years
Meanwhile, the Sox were rumored to try to be attaching Benintendi’s contract in a Crochet trade and are still crying poor.

Pedro Grifol, Charlie Montoyo, Eddie Rodriguez, & Mike Tosar Fired (Grady Sizemore interim manager)
Getz has been horrible in his short tenure thus far. It doesn’t take a professional scout’s eyes to see that.
-
Signings worse than Benintendi in the last 5 years
The bigger concern is that to the White Sox, it IS a lot of money.
