Can we go back in time and trade Vaughn and a pitcher to the Dodgers for Michael Busch?

Rosario is no big loss but it’s a good thing they dumped Rodriguez only to DFA numerous guys later. But I guess it was important for the Sox to keep Bryan Shaw employed. Yes, this guy… looks like he’s about 48.

They didn’t need either of these bums. Both were going to be DFA candidates from the start of the regular season. $6 million thrown into the fire pit. ?

I was all about this one as well. Not a surprise that the Rays made better dumpster diving signings than the Sox.

So we are supposed to applaud a GM who acquired terrible players in the offseason that should be DFA after a matter of weeks? The decisions taking place now don’t remove the fact that Getz signed all these losers in the first place. The fault always goes back to him, regardless of these sad excuses people want to make for him.

I think only Brandon Belt is left at this point, after Getz already scrounged Grossman and Pham.

How many other MLB teams look like they will get shut out almost every single game? This has to be one of the worst offenses in MLB history.

The guy is terrible and they are paying $4.3 million for him.

Remember all the Sox fans that said, at least he can tell what a home run is, unlike Benetti? Oops.

At least AV sucking stops Stone from ridiculously fluffing him all the time.

That’s not me. He should’ve been cut earlier to keep Jose Rodriguez on the 40-man roster.

No, because he was called up after the deadline to retain a year of control on him.

Don’t forget the $75 million dollar man at .367 and $4.3 million dollar Nicky Lopez at .374.

Nastrini and Cannon to be Called Up
Translated: Flexen is now the long man and spot starter at best because he’s been so horrible.

Excellent post. Just made this same point in another thread. Getz’s plan of wasting money on garbage veterans was never about giving the young guys enough time to marinate in the minors. Getz only cared about waiting a few weeks to gain the extra year of control on the young guys.

Nastrini and Cannon to be Called Up
$1.75 million isn’t that much in the MLB but jeez, Getz should be embarrassed he gave Flexen that much for 3 starts. His awful overall numbers weren’t enough to convince Getz that he sucked? At this point, it’s pretty obvious that Getz’s plan was to call up the youngsters once the extra year of control was locked in, and it had much less to do with waiting until the young guys got enough minor league work in to truly be ready for the majors.

Stop the presses: Sox hold team meeting
Because he’s an idiot. He wants the media and fans to think he’s taking care of this epic losing situation while pretending he isn’t the one who told us.

Jake Burger
You don’t risk injury to your one and only good starter by extending him more innings just because your other starters can’t get through the 5th inning. You throw the shitbird relievers out there instead and you sign or call up more garbage pitchers (i.e. Keller) to continue to eat the innings. The Sox have the worst record in baseball so maintaining Crochet’s arm is far more important than winning games.

Nastrini and Cannon to be Called Up
Well, this is true but until the rules change teams aren’t going to stop doing it.

Tommy Pham close to deal with White Sox
The front office already knows. Did the Sox have an offseason that you would expect of a team trying to win? Most posters panned the acquisitions of DeJong, Lopez, Flexen, etc. and they have been right so far. These guys will be DFA candidates soon, if they aren’t already. I know you were optimistic about the rotation but Soroka is terrible as well and only Crochet and Fedde have panned out so far. Like I told you weeks ago, none of these guys have had consistent success in the majors, some have been ruined by injuries, and some have aged out so I’m not sure why you thought they would exceed expectations. It doesn’t take a crystal ball to predict that bad players will be bad.

Brad Keller will be another failure. He’s terrible. Clevinger will likely last in rotation as long as he doesn’t get injured.
