  1. After last night, I was all hopeful that a trade would go down today but this sure seems like more of the same. ?
  2. Apparently, Poles is fine with adding cheap fringe starters/backup OL like Bates and Pryor. If Caleb gets destroyed behind this OL, we will know who to blame. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/bears-sign-offensive-lineman-matt-pryor

Hasn’t DeJong been good with the bad this Spring? Not that I expect him to hit in the regular season. If you are referring to his defense this spring, I have no idea.

Yep, gotta have that veteran bench.

  6. Well, I didn’t see when the date of his appointment with the surgeon is from the NY Post article. It could be that they are assuming 1-2 months of rest right now as the best case scenario but his appointment could be sooner rather than later and the doctor could recommend surgery, which may override the 1-2 months of rest.
  7. Dum dum dum dummmmmm. So basically, he could be out for the season if he ends up requiring surgery after the appointment.
  8. Get ready for the Sox to prove different.
  9. May as well have a decent starter to eat the innings that Cease won’t be, and they can trade Lorenzen for a prospect at the deadline if he has a good first half like last season. Would you rather JR bank Cease’s $8 million once it is cleared off of the Sox payroll?
  10. Sadly, they do better at that than drafting their own. Not by much though.
  11. Banking on the Sox drafting the right position players?
  12. It should when Cease’s salaries for the next two seasons may only total just over $20 million. Where else can you get a potential ace for that price?
  13. Shouldn’t it be 2 times as much since Cease is under control for a second year, or is it 0.5 less because Burnes is better than Cease?
  14. Agreed, 100%. But this is why I actually give dopey Morosi some credit. He ran with a story that he thought was correct and there was no way of backing out of it. That is indeed ballsier than what the fake insiders do with their insinuating eyeballs and vague comments about another “unnamed” team being interest in said player. When someone is being as obscure as possible with their supposed inside information, they are likely full of crap, have no sources, and just get off on the being a fake insider.
  15. No, but at least Morosi risked it all and shared his information, albeit incorrect. The message board and Twitter “insiders” just stay as obscure and ambiguous as possible so they can never be wrong.
  16. Thanks for recapping last night’s news, Jon!
  17. I think the Yankees are still interested but Spencer Jones being included is an absolute no go for them.
  18. Agreed, but outside of Porter, I still want nothing to do with this package. Duran is exactly the type of free swinging player that Getz should be trying to get away from and does anyone think the Sox can fix Leiter and his 5.32 BB/9? It might be a slightly better package than the Burnes return in terms of value, but I still nothing to do with it in return for Cease.
  19. I don’t know if this is true but Duran is a high K rate utility guy that doesn’t walk and Leiter walks far too many guys. The Rangers would love to dump these two guys on us for Cease.
  20. Yeah, ummm, Kopech didn’t fare much better. His first marriage to a Canadian actress ended in 6 months.

Another reliever for Getz to fish out of the dumpster. Lefty Justin Wilson, who was told by the Dodgers he wasn’t going to make the team even though he pitched pretty well — 9 strikeouts in 4 innings. He would match up well with Jesse Chavez and Bryan Shaw. Aged to perfection. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/03/justin-wilson-opts-out-of-minors-deal-with-dodgers.html
  22. It’s like a train wreck any time a reporter puts a mic in front of his stupid face. Here, he sounds like one of my kids stammering and obviously lying when I ask him if he did his homework.
  23. I assume this will be announced right after a Cease trade, so the Sox have an open roster spot for Lorenzen and are sure they have freed up Cease’s $8 million for this year.
  24. It may be for the best, if Getz thinks guys like the position players he acquired this offseason are actually good, and if he likes a guy like Duran.
  25. Exactly. Anyways, by the time the Sox are likely good again in 2+ years or more, Cease could have already signed with a new team.
