  1. @T R U was right. This never ends well. ?
  2. You’ll be back when Jerry finally opens up the purse strings for a top free agent like Hahn promised!
  3. You want a 29 year old arbitration eligible starter with 4 years of control, for THIS current Sox team? Thankfully, you will never be a GM, my friend.
  4. This is great to see.
  5. There’s no way Getz wants a 29 year old starter who is already arbitration eligible, or a headlining 2B prospect with a questionable glove, as the top return in a Cease trade.
  6. I don’t buy this at all.
  7. I don’t think any team starting both Madrigal (3B) and Lopez (2B) would be a team in competition, with the importance of offense in the modern game. Losing that much power at a power position like 3B would be rough. The team would have to be stacked at many other positions.
  8. Is there any way to quantify $17 million in cash to the top 100 rating of a of prospect? Say the Braves sent all prospects and no cash for Sale and his $27 million dollar contract. Just curious to see what one year of $27 million dollar Sale would be worth? Grissom + ???
  9. I don’t see Getz taking on the risk of injury to Cease for the first half of 2024. Hahn had three big trade chips for his rebuild in Eaton, Sale, and Quintana. Getz only has two obvious ones in Cease and Robert right now.
  10. Very happy Cease isn’t going to the Braves. Getting back a no power, weak glove 2B that might end up in LF would’ve been disappointing.
  11. Very nice trade for the Braves. Didn’t give up much, but I’m not a fan of Grissom. Also got cash back to pay toward Sale’s contracts. Of course there is the massive injury risk with Sale…
  12. Excellent point. Getz is wasting money on one year garbage talent when the guys he is cutting loose could be better options, with years of control. The Sox are having a losing season with these crappy vets or the young players. Pointless signings. Stupid.
  13. Orioles fans telling Sox fans what prospects they are not receiving, as if they were the GM. Orioles fans thinking that there are plenty of other starting pitching options than Cease that they can acquire, even though their only acquisition this offseason has been Kimbrel for $10 million and their owner is notoriously cheap.
  14. Only 2,781 more hits to go! What a ?. https://www.nbcsportschicago.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/sox-rib-nick-madrigal-with-mr-3000-t-shirts/168271/?amp=1
  15. Getz is still likely asking for the moon. But is it shocking that there is no trade market for our oft-injured no glove expensive DH? The Sox need to throw away all of his outfielder gloves, tell him he’s a full-time DH whether he likes it or not, see if he can hit 20 homers by the deadline without tearing his ACL and MCL running to first base, and deal him as quickly as possible before he inevitable hits the injured list.
  16. Man, I remember desperately trying to obtain that card when I was a kid.
  17. I agree with you on PCA being a target Getz could be interested in. But explain to us why the Sox, who already dumped Madrigal once, would want him back again? Especially when they already have damn near his clone in Nicky Lopez, who shouldn’t be a starting 2B for any major league team either?
  18. Yep, for the Cubs. I think I mentioned that. Cubs fans also couldn’t believe how slow he was at running the bases just like Sox fans. Regardless, his bat would only play as a starter if he was a Gold Glove caliber SS as well. But he has at least turned himself into a decent backup infielder after proving he can play 3B. He’s just not starter material.
  19. My guess is that Elias won’t pay up for Cease and the Orioles end up not acquiring any starter this offseason. They proceed to get spanked in the playoffs again.
  20. Opinion is incoherently liking a bad player without ever providing any factual data proving your point that said player is good. But let’s move on and continue to talk about good prospects, not busts like Madrigal.
  21. Madrigal has 846 career plate appearances and has put up a career slash line of .280/.328/.354/.682. If he isn’t a Gold Glove defensive SS, that bat isn’t cutting it at 2B or 3B. Outside of his injury issues, we saw with the Sox that he wasn’t as good of a defender at 2B as he was expected to be as a prospect and he didn’t have the speed you would expect from a guy of his size and stature. He is never going to have power (unless he starts cycling roids) so what part of Madrigal’s game is going to drastically change to turn him into a good starting caliber player? He’s a nice backup infielder, but that’s about it. It’s nice that you have a high “opinion” of Madrigal, but why not look into the facts to make your judgment?
  22. I don’t think you would want to see that with Hall’s walk rate as a starter in the minors.
