Yoshinobu Yamamoto got $325 million 12 years from Dodgers (+posting fee)
Compare the quotes about Yamamoto saying he would’ve signed with the Dodgers even if they hadn’t signed Ohtani because they want to win now and in the future, to our moronic owner who declared this all the way back on August 31st, even when he had no reason to… “We're not going to be in any (Shohei) Ohtani race, I'll tell you that.”

Cease To Padres per Passan
The majority of Sox fans (both everyday and the hardcore variety) realize what a joke Grifol is as a manager. You think the players don’t see this as well? Mr. Culture wasn’t successful on any of his promises. No one respects the guy. But that’s just one part of it. Good players and winning also breeds a better environment, but the Sox don’t have any of these attributes.

Cease To Padres per Passan
It’s a new season and a team acquiring Cease knows that their team isn’t as big of a $h17show environment as the Sox were/are. These teams probably also realize that if Tim Anderson didn’t epically suck on both sides of the ball cuz he was too busy cheating on his wife, Cease’s numbers could’ve been better.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Pick your jaw up off the floor then and stop acting clueless. It happens in sports of all levels and even in job professions. Not sure how a Sox fan who has likely lived through Ozzie quitting on the team, Sox players quitting on LaRussa, and Sox players quitting on Grifol is acting ignorant to this. Who are you kidding?

Cease To Padres per Passan
Or is it a pitcher who has stopped caring, just like the rest of his team, due to being out of competition for the division and having a loser for a manager? Yes, it’s not an admirable trait to give up, but the entire Sox team did the same. You can’t guarantee that if Cease was on a contending team, he would have simply pitched the exact same way as he did with the Sox.

Cease To Padres per Passan
They didn’t count for the White Sox, lol. Not sure how you can possibly make the assumption that Cease puts up the same numbers with the Orioles as he did with our piece of s%*# non-contending team. Amazing…

Cease To Padres per Passan
Exactly what I was going to say. Also, the rejuvenated excitement for pitching for a contender, not a 100 loss team.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
I was talking about acquiring Flaherty, not Cease. But if you think Flaherty is a better acquisition than Cease, more power to you.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
I think the risk of injury and getting jack squat for Cease far outweighs seeing if he can regain his 2022 form and trading him at the deadline.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Flaherty with the stellar 6.75 ERA as an Oriole. Oops. I guess Elias can make some stupid moves…
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
I don’t think that’s necessarily true. What do you think about @Y2Jimmy’s proposal above?
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
Okay, would you like him for cash considerations then? As in, you take Sheets and the Sox also include money?
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
Maybe Getz can sweeten the pot and get a deal done by including our currently projected starting RF and Baltimore hometown hero, Gavin Sheets!
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
I’d rather take a single third prospect back that was rated a bit higher than third and fourth pieces. But that is just due to history and looking back at the Eaton, Sale, and Quintana trades.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
I think this is reasonable, because there is some redundancy in the players and prospects the Orioles have and the prospects they would be giving up for Cease.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
If the Sox had another player worth a damn in a trade, like if Eloy was coming off of a big offensive season, I could see this being more likely.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
Exactly. Say hello to Moncada, Kopech, and Eloy.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
Why not? Because every young Orioles starter and/or pitching prospect will hit? Good luck with that. It’s just not realistic for any team.

Cease To Padres per Passan
The latest rumor is that the Brewers will keep Burnes. https://theathletic.com/5154981/2023/12/21/brewers-corbin-burnes-braves-trades-the-windup/?source=emp_shared_article Even if the Brewers do trade Burnes, he is a free agent after 2024. Good luck resigning him on the open market, Orioles. No chance in hell. Luzardo has 3 years of control left so if you are aghast at the prospect price Sox fans are discussing for Cease, good luck with Luzardo.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I have no clue what names have truly been discussed and neither do you. Period.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Here’s a question — what good rotation starter with ace potential can the Orioles sign or trade for right now that they can actually afford with their payroll?
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
I don’t understand these comments. You can say Sox fans are expecting far too much, and that may be true, but you are also making claims as if you are the Orioles GM and know exactly what offer Elias would accept. Neither side truly knows.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I assume you are referring to the first Soto trade from the Nationals to the Padres? Soto only had 2 years of control at the time. Robert has 4 years of control. Big difference.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
That’s not going to be pretty.

White Sox sign Martin Maldonado 1 year/4 million, vesting option for 2025
Relief pitchers are apparently next on the task list. Position players, nah… the Sox offense looks great. The running theme is that they sign what’s cheap.
