When you realize the Sox are paying worthless Benintendi $31 million over two more years, 1/$22 million or 2/$40 million for Robert doesn’t seem so bad. 🤣

Slater and Houser were traded. A righty bench bat OF and a usually mediocre SP that had 11 good starts. Teams weren’t ever giving up good prospects for them, which makes sense. They are normally just two mediocre cheap vets. I hated the Vargas trade last year but I’m not sure what you expected for two scrubs like Slater and Houser.

Not a surprise. Jerry may have approved Robert’s $20 million dollar option but I’m sure he doesn’t want to actually pay it in full.

Bring back Madrigal next season if you want an easy replacement for Rojas. He can play the same positions and won’t get $3.5 million. He will also OPS above .504. 🤮 What was Getz even thinking with this Rojas signing? He was a splurge bench signing for a contender, not a signing a non-contending team should ever be making with numerous younger players/prospects that could play the same positions already.

No one knows. Probably not even Getz.

Who knows? If Robert stays hot for the rest of the season and ends up with an .800+ OPS, 20 HR, and 40 SB, I wouldn’t be surprised if a contender is willing to trade for him in the offseason. 1-year at $22 million or 2-years at $40 million isn’t a bad deal for a 28-year old potential All-Star CF. You aren’t going to be able to sign a player like that for that kind of minimal contract length and money in free agency.

I assume Ramos will replace Rojas on the roster next season, without burning $3.5 million in the fire pit.
