  1. Move this dude to full-time 1B and let him focus on hitting instead of his defense. We have nothing at 1B other than Elko, and Elko likely isn’t worth the plate appearances. At least the Sox don’t think so. And he’s got to be better than Noda. 🤣 https://www.mlb.com/milb/prospects/2022/3b/curtis-mead-678554
  2. I was once told by another poster that just because he was DFA’d and no other team claimed him, that doesn’t mean he has no value, it was just a roster crunch for the Sox and all other teams in the MLB…
  3. Huh? Hahn did this all the time. It just never worked out.
  4. Curious what the Cubs were offering and what Getz wanted, prospect-wise.
  5. So even after Kopech and Edman helped them win a World Series last year, they still have Edman’s 1.3 bWAR on this season matching Vargas’s 1.3 bWAR on this season, even if Kopech doesn’t do anything for them when he returns from his torn meniscus surgery. Edman can also play more positions than Vargas, so I still don’t see how the Dodgers could ever regret the trade, or wish they had Vargas over what they have right now. The Dodgers won the trade, the Sox came in second, and the Cardinals lost it.
  6. Remember how the Cease trade return was like getting two more prospects back because Steven Wilson was going to be flipped? Since he was acquired, he has been DFA’ed and hasn’t been traded at two trade deadlines. 🤦🏻‍♂️
  7. Mead is basically Vargas, but hopefully he can actually get near an .800 OPS with full-time at bats. I assume they will throw him at 1B and see what he can do. I was hoping Tauchman would be traded because he should have had value and we could see what Danger Will could do in RF for the rest of the season, but it seems like the Sox want Tauchman back as a cheap starting RF for next season.
  8. Not surprised. It would’ve made a ton of sense. Both @fathom and I thought the Cubs would be a top suitor for Houser.
  9. 34 games isn’t a 1/3 of a season. It’s 1/5. Also, Houser had 6 wins in 11 starts. Who is replacing him in the rotation that is going to maintain around a 2.00 ERA?
  10. He’s a small sample size guy. Houser is gone and we may soon see the rotting corpse of Thor in our rotation…
  11. Honestly, I thought the return was pretty good for Slater and Houser. I just think he should have managed to make more trades — Tauchman and perhaps Civale, Wilson, and Altavilla.
  12. He used to be one of the most positive posters on here. Years of believing and watching years of failure instead have changed him to more of a realist.
  13. This. 💯 And some people will try to hype up these inevitable mediocre acquisitions to be better than they are.
  14. Obviously those are hyperbole jokes that many posters on this site make. 🤣 We all know that $75K is a drop in the bucket in Major League Baseball money.
  15. Yes, I’m sure the Dodgers regret trading away 1.5 WAR Miguel Vargas for what Kopech did for them in the second half of the season and what Edman did for them in the postseason on the way to their World Series. Is this a serious post?
  16. The analogy should be good enough for you to understand. But I look forward to more of your drunken posts.
  17. No, historical basis.
  18. I’ll believe it when I see it.
  19. Dude has a long way to go to be a guaranteed major leaguer. His strikeout rate is the stuff of legends.
  20. No, I think they may add bench player(s) and pitching. But no big free agents. They will spread it around on a few mediocre players as they always do.
  21. Take a look at what the opening day payroll was for this season and what it is projected to be for next year. Even $20 million added to next year’s payroll isn’t going to prove the point you are trying to make. Give up now.
  22. True, but even a broken toy that some kid in the US would throw in the garbage might be a prized possession to some kid in a third world country. That’s how the Sox could view a 1.5 WAR player versus the Dodgers. 🤣
  23. Yeah, Robert’s option is the addition he is talking about. Haha.
  24. I call BS.
  25. Honestly, his two trades were pretty good. The problem is this. He should have made more deals than two.
