  1. It was a nice trade but see Miguel Vargas. There’s no reason to be excited until these guys (Vargas and Mead) prove they can hit consistently and not just hover around a .700 OPS and 1 WAR.
  2. I am dubious they would, but a decision had to be made before Getz decided to pass on any offers for Robert. I assume it was discussed already between Getz and Jerry.
  3. I already explained it in my previous post. If they don’t pick up the option and see if Robert can increase his value by either the offseason or the next trade deadline, and instead give him his $2 million buyout, they fucked up period by not just accepting a lesser return for him. Surprise, GM’s have to plan ahead!
  4. It’s not a player option. It’s a team option. The Sox get to make the choice of giving him $20 million for 2026 or the $2 million buyout, not Robert. And you have to assume the Sox made the decision to pay him for next season. Otherwise, why not just trade him for a weak return anyways?
  5. No, I never did. But some posters here did, just because of freed up money. Robert’s option will be the majority of it.
  6. He’s a cheap bridge to Montgomery and helps Getz and Jerry avoid Sox fan expectations of them spending money this upcoming offseason.
  7. They just traded a major leaguer (Houser) for a major leaguer (Mead) and two minor leaguers. It should be an even swap of roster spots. Not that Getz shouldn’t DFA Rojas anyways. 🤣
  8. Yep, and Tauchman will be in RF with perhaps Mead at 1B. Doesn’t seem like they will be spending on starting position players in the offseason.
  9. It just tells me the Sox aren’t spending much this offseason.
  10. Are we sure Mead isn’t targeted for 1B?
  11. If he can ever stop walking the world. But that type of return is to be expected.
  12. It’s more amazing that he broke the additional prospect names.
  13. Yeah, looks like it. He’s just turning 25 in October. Play Vargas and Mead everyday at the corners. I guess they wanted Tauchman for next year cuz he’s cheap, but I’d rather see what Danger Will can do in RF. I guess they can both alternate the corner OF and DH with Benintendi, but Robertson should get a lot of playing time.
  14. Which is why the thought of ever retaining Houser was moronic…
  15. Not me. Anything is better than nothing.
  16. Well, your previous post is true then. Irrationality is real.
  17. I won’t be mad at a light return. It’s better than nothing at all. Houser and Civale are gone after this season. What are you not understanding?
  18. Mad that the trade wasn’t made, and not even accepting a light offer. Houser and Civale do nothing important for this team the rest of the way. The Sox already have bums that can eat their innings. Why is this so difficult to understand?
  19. No, not with the money remaining on his contract. I assume most people are just assuming the Sox would pick some/most of it up since they will be paying it anyways if he stays here.
  20. You sell them for the best offer regardless. Something is better than nothing and the Sox already have guys that can eat innings. They will both be free agents after this season. If Getz wants either guy back, he can offer them a contract in the offseason.
  21. If the Sox give Robert his buyout after this season, that is when we will know Getz made a mistake. Anything is better than nothing at all.
  22. Doubt the Dodgers are interested…
  23. Houser himself is a freaking retread pitcher on a hot streak. That’s why you sell him high! It was the exact reason they signed him and acquired Civale for Vaughn. To trade them if they upped their value, which they both did. Houser moreso than Civale. Getz’s purpose is to improve the team in the long run, not keep impending free agents with value around to eat innings and provide you with a nicer game viewing experience.
