QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 12:38 PM) Baseball can respond to a player using their right to appeal by increasing a suspension? That doesn't sound right. There is nothing in the CBA that says otherwise. Edit: I finally see what you're saying now, Balta. I'm being dense... I think MLB has been in touch with all of the affected players and has laid out some evidence implicating them. MLB has most likely offered to suspend the players for the rest of the season. If the players do appeal, I think MLB will increase the suspension for all parties involved. After that, I would think they can appeal (to whom I have no idea). THAT'S what I was trying to say.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox

QUOTE (elwood5892 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) Hi guys. Long time lurker. Thought this was interesting. @DanHayesCSN: #WhiteSox source has Oakland #Athletics in front of Jake Peavy sweepstakes. Peavy brought extra bags on trip in case, per @JJStankevitz. I wonder if this has anything to do with Colon and Biogenesis. Peavy would definitely upgrade Oakland's already great rotation. I think Oakland has a pretty good chance at winning the division, so that would be nice for Jake as well. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) Depending on what MLB comes down with, these appeals might have a chance at some success, at least getting the suspensions cut down. I disagree. The appeals process will be very difficult, as none of these suspensions are based on actual tests. As a result, baseball can actually suspend the players for however long they choose, as the CBA stipulated suspensions (50, 100, life), are for failed drug tests only. If the players are actually dumb enough to appeal MLB's decisions, and if MLB thinks their evidence is iron clad, Selig could increase the suspensions to whatever he feels like (see Arod's potential suspension).

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 11:34 AM) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/07/a-ro...rough-2014.html Biosgenisis suspensions can come this week. This can be huge for the Sox, Rios and Rangers. Cruz will likely be suspended for the rest of the year. They have to do something if they want to play in October.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:58 PM) Started out in the minor leagues at 17 though. 3 years to get to AA doesn't seem that impressive. He was probably the youngest player at each level. Most twenty year olds are in short season or Low-A ball. It is absolutely still impressive. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:53 PM) Well, Peter Gammons did say that we're targeting pitching....as mind boggling as that is The only way that makes sense is if the Sox plan on flipping Quintana or Santiago in the offseason for positional prospects. I just don't buy it. -

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:50 PM) I still bet that they focus on pitching with maybe one position player. I agree, but I think the premium prospect would be positional and not pitching. This is just me guessing, anyways. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) What does everyone think Bundy's value is after the surgery? Because Tommy John surgery has a relatively good success rate to other arm injuries, I would still think sky high. -

Appears that Baltimore's system is very pitching heavy. I'd think Hahn would be pushing for impact position players, so I'm not sure this is a good match unless Baltimore gives up Gausman or Bundy (which they shouldn't). -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) I don't get what's so special about Schoop after looking at his stats. He was 20 in AA last year. It's pretty impressive that he's holding his own. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 09:18 PM) Hawkins 0-4, 2 k's. Buddy Bell thinks his 18 HR, 50+ RBI are just fine though. Beck 6 shutout innings, 4 ks It's really sad that at the end of the year Semien will have more walks than Hawkins has hits. Micah will probably have more hits at W-S than Hawkins, too. But hey, he's hittin' them dingers (and is on pace to challenge the record for the worst K/AB ratio in minor league history https://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospe...y-minor-league/ *tweets five times*

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) Marcus Semien walks. He's reached base nine straight times I believe. Crazy.

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) Dunn absolutely clobbered Chris Getz. I'm not watching the game and that just sounds painful. Getz might be broken in half. -
If Ramirez is traded, one would imagine that the Sox would receive the SS he's replacing in return. Give Semien the rest of the year in Birmingham (or move him to AAA if he never cools off) and go from there. There is absolutely no rush with him.

Wilkins in the game now. Wise was pulled. Interesting.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) Phegley is hitting somewhere in the low .200s now. In 50 ABs. Cute.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 05:55 PM) Nah. We have to trade Peavy. Because reasons and I'm "tired of waiting". This is the general vibe I get from a lot of people here. Everyone has to be traded right this very instant, but the haul has to be huge because derp derp derp Random Prospects Names derp. -
QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) Hunter Pence is overrated. I hope SF locks him up so we can dump Rios. I gave Rios several earfuls on Wednesday night. Perks of having 2nd row bleacher seats when Rios doesn't hustle for fly balls, strikes out with with a man on 3rd and one out, strikes out swinging for the fences with 2 strikes and grounds into a double play. I have said it before, Rios should be moved to change the attitude of this team. I don't want any TWTW bulls***, but lackadaisical losers who don't hustle have no place on my ideal White Sox team. Yeah, you sure showed him.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:26 PM) By my calculations, for the month of July, Semien has a slash line of 370/500/710 .370/.500/.716 That's insane. Since the ASB, Semien has an OPS of 1.600.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) Didn't the Cubs ask for best and final offers for the Garza deal? I think the Sox should do the same. Get best and final offers by Monday, and get a deal done before the game Tuesday. Unless they just want to keep him for the long haul, they shouldn't have Peavy starting Tuesday night. Because Garza's value falls through the floor after the 31st. Peavy is signed through next year and still could command a haul this winter or next trade deadline. Also, that Twitter account has to be bulls***. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 11:00 AM) Hitting like he is now could make him a $10 million annual player, especially when you add in the D. No. Beckham's BABIP is .389. Paying him $10 million a year due to good production over 150 PA is absurd. And yes, it's a stretch to assume he'll keep up this production for his next 300 PA.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 10, 2013 -> 07:33 PM) Semien's performance is very average to me. He has nice peripheral stats, but overall it's not a dominant season or anything. I'm still a bit skeptical about him. He's 22 and in his first year at AA. I think he's been fine.
