From Rosenthal:
Sources: #WhiteSox’s Thornton on long #RedSox list of possible bullpen targets. #Braves also inquired on Thornton; interest “limited.”
Figure this can act as the Matt Thornton rumor thread, as he almost certainly will be traded.
Rienzo dealing. Still think he'll end up in the pen.
Great Falls with a really early start today. Wonder how long Engel and Hayes will stay there if they keep hitting well.

Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 24m
Robin Ventura doesn't have split in mind w/ catchers. Think Phegley gets bulk now as long as he performs. Sounds like he'll go w/ hot hand.
Makes sense.

Why wasn't Castro brought in? And why is Tekkote playing for this team. Hitting .250 in AAA lol
Was putting up about a 1.000 OPS in Charlotte for all of June. That's why.

Gonna guess Trayce got a day off for throwing his bat violently to the ground.
Second guess - corresponding move is Tekotte up after tonights AAA game.
You're right, probably Tekotte. He's been raking in Charlotte lately, and he's not starting tonight.
So glad that Ventura has his head so far up his ass that he leaves his ace on the mound to throw 120+ pitches with the team down 3 runs in the 8th, and 14 games under .500 in late June. Incredible.
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 02:23 AM)
More reason not to do that.
Co-sign.
I don't think the Sox need to tank to obtain a high draft pick. They're legitimately that bad anyways.
"Although Ramirez has only one home run this year, that executive pointed out, “He's hitting .280, has 18 stolen bases and plays good defense.''"
Quick, trade Ramirez to that exec's team before he realizes how many errors Ramirez has committed.

I stand by my prediction that Michael Earley will make it to the majors before the trio of Thompson, Walker and Mitchell, although Thompson's stock is trending up in past weeks.
Needs to have a higher SLG%. He won't sniff the bigs if he can't slug over .475.

He won't be a tougher sign than Rodriguez, but Engel is a toolsy outfielder, ranked pretty high on the BA draft board(~150). He was perceived as a 4 or 5th round talent. So it depends if he fell due to signability issue or his draft stock just fell.
He hit .230. In the Big East. That's why.

.308 average, .923 OPS in June.
In 26 ABs. You get worked up about people wanting Phegley and then roll out some sampling bias.
Whole lot of favorites went down today (FSU, Vanderbilt, Oregon State, Virginia). Looks like I can make it to Omaha next weekend if IU can pull out another win.
