  1. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) It's a silly and stupid idea. Eaton is our second best hitter and is a good left handed lead off hitter. Trading him opens up another hole (2 really because now ya need a lead off hitter). We need to ADD hitters not subtract. i think there was a better way to have said this or to voice your disagreement.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) I like all of these idea, with the following caveats: 1)I don't see Jones as having a long (or short) term future; hope I'm wrong. 2)There's something off with Sanchez; not sure what, although may be mental. E Johnson? I hope the Sox do some of these kind of moves. Just looked at some pitchers WAR. Knew Q was good, but didn't realize he was #14. Danks wasn't bad either. Better than Shields. Danks' GB rate is only 36% - some team with a big park should grab him next year. Ian Kennedy checks in at #75, just ahead of Hector. Who's paying $$ for that and giving up a draft choice? ref the bold, the one i didn't mention is the yanks wants to trade him. for as many teams that can use a starting catcher, why hasn't sanchez been move?? the reason is according to last yr rpt, he is a A type lousy teammate. [ i really like the way you wrote it.... funny. ]

    2015 Films thread

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) Oh also that was the worst song/credits I've seen in abound film in a while. i agree with you ... but it is still not as bad as the guy, white or something.
  4. QUOTE (Whitey @ Nov 15, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) That is pretty close to what I was thinking for Sale (my version was Seager, Pederson, Urias, and a few lesser prospects). But, I would keep Quintana as the ace. To round off my mock offseason, I would also.... - Trade Robertson for prospects. Move Montas to setup, and Jones to closer. - Trade Micah (to NYY for Gary Sanchez). - Trade Melky for prospects. - Include considerable $ with Danks and LaRoche to entice someone to give up a prospect or two for them. - In FA, I would sign one of the Japanese OF's (Hyun-soo Kim or Ah-seop Son), and then bring back Buehrle for his farewell tour in 2016. LF - Eaton CF - Pederson RF - Kim/Son 3B - Seager SS - Saladino (maybe Anderson by the end of 2016) 2B - Sanchez 1B - Abreu C - Sanchez/Flowers DH - Garcia SP - Quintana SP - Buehrle SP - Rodon SP - Johnson SP - Urias/Beck/Fulmer while i am not a fan of your mock, you do bring up some points i have been debating on for a while. ref MB and coming back here for a farewell tour. it has been mention that if he does come back for any farewell tour, it would be with Stl. Stl lost Lackey and they do need a sp. it only make sense ~ Sanachez from the yanks, they need a young cost control sp. and MJ for Sanchez either Flowers or Andujar and convert him to a pitcher. 50 errors is a little too much but a 95 mph fastball is better. ~ Robertson now i been thinking this since the mlb trade deadline. Hou, needs a closer. they almost traded for Kimbrel last yr but the San wanted too much. i still don't see why they need another closer with Gregerson in the fold. but either way, hou has some nice prospects.
  5. glad the hawks won. many shots on goal for the hawks. alot of different players with assist. the bad. #1 Daley- for a dman, he was on the ice 11:40 min.... only 2 other hawks player played less and both were forward. #2 only 6 hits for the hawks #3 only 5 block shots. #4 Keith lead the team with total ice time, the same day he comes back with 27:30 mins. yet the hawks won.
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 12:36 AM) I agree with Vance, the Sox should not shy away from NL hitters just because a few recent acquisitions have not worked out. That said, I've lost all interest in Desmond. Would rather go with Freese whom will not cost as much money and will not cost a pick either. Freese would buy the Sox time to develop Trey or trade for a young 3B at some point over the next few years. Not my first choice but imo, I'm not willing to give a pick for Desmond nor do I have the desire to give up top prospects for Frazier. excellent pov.... i am sold. scratched my post on Desmond.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 01:17 AM) I really want LeMahieu. He's a very solid player. i will admit that i am very guilty of coming up with fantasy trade idea when a thread open up for one, but some of this person ideas are out of whack. adam laroche or matt davidson in a trade. col trading lemahieu, a key member for them competing in a yr or 2.
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 14, 2015 -> 12:05 AM) It's always a crap shoot for sure. Looking at his past history he has had some real decent years. But, losing a draft choice and spending lots of money just doesn't seem to fit in with the Sox plans going forward. Plus we just haven't had good luck with hitters from the NL signing with us. But, I would then add that we have expected everyday position players to fit in the DH role where they have had no experience the last time i posted something like this, i was attacked by 2 #$%@ who likes to follow me. all what you are saying is true, at least it needs to be in the equation when thinking of it. this is one of my crazy wild arse fixation on Desmond, i just thought he plays a ss position and while he may be good or not at that position, i just thought 3b may be a little easier.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 11:12 PM) Because you would give up a draft pick for him and he's never played 3B in the MLB. If I'm giving up a draft pick, give me Upton and Heyward who are more advanced offensively and even defensively. logically you are correct . howver with the outfield really not needing a player, and the sox really need a 3b. however in essence, we as fans do not have all the necessary info that the pro's have, they may have some info that may change everything . however, it is not likely to happen.
  10. if management thinks he can play 3b, they why not??
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) I still think the Sox should be moving Q for position talent (or Sale), so in this scenario, having Shark allows you to still potentially give it a shot at contention (while developing a combo of Fullmer/Montas/EJ). If you stay in contention, great, if you aren't ready, you hope Shark has truly rebounded and you are ideally able to move him for the package we expected to get a year ago (and ideally add more positional talent while opening up another development spot). I figure we know Rodon / Sale / Q are in the rotation, but then you have Danks (who at some point the Sox can move away from now that he's in his final year) and at least one youngster. if Q is traded, i bet the sox would listen to the bold as well, for multi prospects to help in a yr or 2.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) Keith is Chelios reincarnated. and just as valuable. good call.
  13. well Svedberg was just sent down ..... that mean Keith is playing. i think Svedberg and TVR has been really exciting and they are new players. i would have Svedberg up and he is even getting more ice time than Daley
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) In other news, it looks like Roszival is activated. Erik Gustafsson (whose been really impressive for the Hawks) was sent down. We'll see when Keith is officially activated what they do with Svedberg or Rundblad. Dano on the first line in practice also. i think Svedberg will stay up and get ice time.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 06:46 PM) Considering Tallon wanted Havlat over Hossa, I don't think he knew much of anything regarding "bad seasons" and such. Hossa won't be the same player in a couple of years when he ages more (for the record, his speed is still very solid but his shot certainly has went away) but he will slide into that 3rd line role quite nicely.. if he hasn't already.. whenever Q decides to make the move. All things considered, any Hawks fan will definitely trade off the 3 cups (and possibly counting) for it. Q system loves older experience player. remember the Mayers, Handzus, he kept playing then b/c they had experience. the salary cap era, they are unforgiving esp if a mistake is made. the hawks are in a pickle and hope they find a way around the cap limitation they are in now.
  16. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) I wouldn't say "doom", but Dale Tallon knew when he signed that long term contract that Hossa would give the team some bad seasons. I just think we all got used to this concept of Hossa's "immortality". He lost a step maybe two seasons ago, but now he looks like he has aged a lot more. Hopefully that's not true, but it's certainly possible. yeah, i agree, it shows alot in his play or how much his talent has dropped. but for those who would say it is still early, his skill is what i am talking about, is it diminishing ..... lets look at this in a real light. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 03:56 PM) When the contract was signed, I think he was only expected to play two more seasons or so. That's why his "salary" is only $1 million for the final 4 seasons. What will happen with that and the new salary cap rules? No idea. excellent point and brings up the idea of a trade and salary cap, how to get around the cap
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Yeah, LDF, I've seen you mention throwing in Teuvo in multiple deals for players who aren't really good... I don't think you realize his potential. you and many seems to think of his potential. well i agree, i do not see that potential coming thru. i wish i have a reason to pin point and say, "see here is what i am talking about. " instead i look at finding ways of keeping this team in, as someone said the other day, in an age of nhl with a hard, unforgiving salary cap. i am also looking at things in how to unburden this team with some bad contracts, with the understanding that no gm | nhl org will help the hawks. so an overpayment is needed. here in my trade, i am talking of a rare power forward who is still a really good player, who can help any team. the hawks is in need of a forward who can score and provide other skills that it is lacking. i remember someone mention in the off season, it might have been me, we can not wait for potential to develop, the team needs results now in players they have. btw, good post.
  18. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 02:18 AM) Followed the HR with a walk. Stop the season now. He can't get any better. i really hate to say this, esp on any sox prospects / players. but have him do a blood test. his results this AFL are superhuman bordering on herculean | god like results.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 01:53 AM) Why? Only a one year deal. He was an essential player during the playoffs. He'll be starting in LF next year probably. hou now has a player who is raking in 15.8 in salary instead of salivating on whom to pick with that lost comp pick.
  20. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 07:33 AM) I'm sorry, what now? You would be willing to give up a 21 year old Teravainen for a 38 year old Iginla? You have now revoked your privileges to ever be critical of any Blackhawks roster move, sorry LDF. Those are the rules. however the main point is probably getting help, but also to relieve the team of a salary of a player that can't be moved for a viable offensive power forward. the power forward is needed to get that first line going. however i haven't even look how the salary compares and would it be doable with ref to the salary cap. so i was spouting off with anger. however what you wrote is hilarious.
  21. Those are the rules. way too funny. i like it.
  22. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 04:40 AM) Last year was like this then we signed LaRoche and Duke. It'll pick up. I was shocked the Simmons deal came together so quickly. imo, a lot of the waiting is probably to make sure that shark does not accept the QO. when that deadline passes then hopefully we will see something.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 05:13 AM) More like "Kane giveth and everyone else taketh away." They are getting nothing from everyone on the offense aside from Kane, Panarin, Anisimov and Toews (and Teuvo somewhat). Shaw, Garbutt, Hossa, Kero, Dano, Kruger, and Desjardins have done nothing. has been out the last 2 games due to illness.
  24. Hossa, hasn't been producing and that first line, they can't find someone to produce and mesh like Saad. they truly need a #1 winger... but if Hossa is on his last leg, due to age, that firs line is doom. that 3rd line, the hawks have individual talent there, but no one to magically bring them together, as of right now. Dano is not doing it. Tevo isn't doing it with Toews line or on the 3rd line, Tikhonov didn't play, Daley what the f***. Kane had the most ice time, this is unusual for a Q game. usually it is 3 dman but wow. i read the Jarome Iginla wants to go to a team that is or could be playoff bound. col has room on the cap, Daley, 1 rounder and prospects, damn i even throw in Tevo for him.
