  1. i like the armchair comment .... now i will do the same. from this interesting chain of events. i bet there is going to be a whole set of rules to tighten up every little thing to protect the evidence. next i see, if the bag is part of the kit / pkg, i can see several more civil actions. first to the police dept and next will be the labs who does the actual test and lastly the hospital that conducted or took the the samples. i don't know.... maybe it is me, but i am going to use this completely different example and trying to make a point. i am getting my tax return chk. i rip the envelope and get the chk now i throw the rip envelope away someone who is see the envelope and see it does that mean, by seeing the envelope that someone else took the chk???? that is my attempt at playing perry mason.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 24, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) Easily readable from twitter because you are already logged into something I guess. so in a long and short, what is the msg.
  3. well this season is coming to an end. the season hope in the beginning is a complete shock to how the team did and progress. this is a time to start looking at how to make this team competitive next yr. well i will bring up some points before many will change their mind in the off season and change their mind. now lets understand. the team needs players, pieces and prospects to help. i much as i hate to admit this, the sox will not sell their marque players, b/c they are still a business and need those players to put fans in the stand. players who many really like. so in short, eaton, sale jose a are not getting traded. so the priority of positions that needs immediate help and in the order that i am thinking. again this is my opinion. 3b. - no temp fix who can not hit or hit for some power. someone who is already a proven player. ------ need a trade or fa. ss. - can this team really hope for Alexei or a replacement who is no better in what the sox have trying to perform. (Saladino) cat - as much as i hate to not liking Flower, but it is position that need better hitting. how many seasons has he less than, i would be happy for a 250 avrg. dh. - i can not stand another season of adam l and hoping that he will be able to produce..... i keep and can't stand thinking of Paulie and his last 2yr of hitting now i can hope for more help but these positions is what i believe really needs to be address. i am not saying or condoning of spending all the money on a Heyward and leaving the team expose to these weak area.

  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 08:23 PM) Basically as of now I'm going to throw up my hands and ignore this story until something official happens because it's officially crossed the line to surreal. I don't see any other way to respond to what we've seen so far. quite wise grass hopper. but joking aside, i just read 6 pages of what i missed. the biggest thing i can think of, he now brings the momentum back on the victim side. the next thing is to let the officials do their work to see if it is the bag or not. on a side note, if it is the part of the same pkg ...... now comes the realm of the possibilities. in other word, some can call into question the actual dna testing or the integrity of the final results. here is a question. what would you do if you were the hawks FO and the official statement is that it part of the official pkg???? do you still stand by your player??? or do you ask the league to step in and suspend Kane per CBA Article 18-A.5 ?????

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 01:37 AM) Finally saw Unbroken. Thought it was good, but a little long. I know it went in to great detail on his experience as a PoW, but I think that still could've been done without going 2 hours. my uncle was in the same camp with the person. my uncle was captured in Bataan. right on the onset of the ww2. he shared camp with the well known Pappi Boyington of the ba ba black sheep fan. my uncle was a big, 6'2 built person who the guards love to pick on him. he let them beat him, he saw what happen if he defended him self. he was rescue and weigh 97 lbs. he also got all of his teeth knock out in these cough ..... cough .... fair fight... the camp was the camp for officers ..... a little known fact, the in most of the Japanese camp guard were Koreans. he hated the Asian till the day he died.
  8. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) In lieu of the easy answer which is "None of them", I would still go with Robertson. i am not sure if the main question is would the team make the same move, based on the GM opinion. or should it means, if we or the selective individual, if he was the GM made the same or correct selection. so from that. i was pretty adamant of certain players. for me, adam laroche, = i wanted another dh, but for the lack of not spending, i was ok with adam l to fill that hole. i really wanted K. Morales - dh kcr melky - yes from the beginning. i wanted him boni - for lack of anything else, i was ok with the backup plan for me, to getting boni. i really wanted a trade. i was not confidence on Conon G but i thought Bone will work as a backup. i was extremely ranting on not getting another sp and getting a 3b but i was ok with boni. but i really wanted the sox to really get a sp. i really wanted e. vólquez - sp kcr. oh well. this goes to prove i would be a lousy gm. this yr, i even have more of a crazier ideas.... oh well.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) Except for Hitler... and Ryan Rayburn - . wow talking about extreme examples.
  10. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 03:25 AM) Agreed but to me I either see people way overvaluing our guys or way undervaluing them. Almost every Quintana proposal either has me imagining Hahn hanging up the phone immediately or personally driving him to the airport. i am not disagreeing but i look at this way. the real homers / fans have always done that, for me, it goes back to the grammar school days. it is great to think like that. now comes the reality of getting older, many still like to think like that, it is the cold hard facts to realize they will always be a difference there. nothing can ever chg that. but as a fan, i like it.
  11. QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) My God, I wish I didn't think you are exactly right. I agree with you about clearing out KW, Robin, plus anyone who has anything to do with hitting instruction, and I would probably look at getting rid of Buddy Bell too because player development has been sub par for a while now. But I think that what you wrote is far more likely, because of how loyal Jerry is to people in his organization regardless of what shows up on the field. i hate to disagree with you in a way. but your statement is not the whole story. you forget of the development of the pitcher the sox have.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 05:17 AM) For some of us hockey playoff fans, how much did the Hawks lose from their title team? I know there was talk they'd have to shed salary. So did we lose a ton and what are the prospects of winning it all again this year? Did the Blackhawks get gutted of talent? Or not? that is a good question and like anything and everything else, you will get many opinions. for me, the biggest hit will be loosing Saad . the biggest disappointment will be not being able to move bickell and steeger before the draft. however moving steeger now, was a good thing to help the salary cap. remember i look at things as a person who needs to see these players with a known track record. i don't see the idea of getting and relying on a player who has promise and potential. so this bring everything to this point. offensively the hawks lost the goal scoring and point total of > Saad, 23 g 29 a and a #1 winger sharp 68 games, 16 g 23 a and a solid to even a real good #1 type talent. steeger 14g 20a and a #3 type of player. lets not forget the other players who left for a bigger salary. also lets not forget that in Q system, he expects the players to be very responsible for their position and defense. that comes with nhl experience. the bottom line is the hawks did pick up some interesting players, but i trust Q as the leader who will get the team there. i also like the leaders on the team.
  13. QUOTE (2Dbill @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 03:01 AM) I’m a new member on the site who is a lifelong white sox fan. I don’t claim any special expertize. I recently retired and enjoy reading the different topics welcome to the site .... best group of informed posters on baseball. i just wish i was one. from 1 retired person to another. enjoy the beginning of the new and hopefully successful era of sox baseball. btw, i don't know if i ever saw a first post as big as yours. btw 2 - how do you like the minor leagues???
  14. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 23, 2015 -> 03:03 AM) Odds are, the damage has already been done. I don't understand why a press conference is necessary. Either charge him or don't. all these comments here and including mine are simply a guest. my problem has been several things, where were the defensive marks, scratches on Kane??? next is why are the victims letting kane and company do this pr move. yeah it is a pr move. no marks, high celebrity going about and doing his work. these questions, a lawyer needs to answer, but i am wondering if it is their time to come out. did she have any facial bruising, black and blue hand grips bruising on her arm. maybe the legal team is coming out with a set of statistics showing and further explaining the dna results and lack of dna samples in past cases. i don't know. these are some of the questions i had since the dna results and since this started.
  15. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) Have no idea what they'll be able to do. Free agent list isn't impressive in the areas they need. They'll probably have less money to work with given season tickets holders, many, won't be back. Still far to many black holes in the lineup. Starting pitching may be an issue as well if they trade Q. Yet they'll try to sell the fans on the notion of "contending" next year. Maybe the best thing they can do, maybe the only thing is to bring in an experienced manager who has won in the past and let him bring in his own coaching staff. Maybe they can get more out of what the Sox already have. That and removing Kenny completely from interfering. Mark scandalous, he single handily got the sox the WS companionship
  16. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 10:46 PM) Agreed. However it does give teams the impression that if they can get Shark away from the clown college known as the White Sox, he could turn it around. The talent obviously is there. Mark oooo that was harsh. i am visually picturing KW with a big red nose. ummmm
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 10:35 PM) Thank you for listing some possibilities explicitly, we couldn't have interpreted that from the context of DA's post. if that was for me, then i was happy to have help in this......
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) Maybe it was the goons he hangs out with. They did have his DNA under her nails and on her shoulder. It makes you think of several possibilities. i am not taking sides but i like to point out something in your statement. marks by the mouth, bite marks or anything like that can be thought of as a hickey. dna under her nails, loose skins or she ran her hand thru his hair or if she was giving oral sex. as you said several possibilities of anything. edit or he can be guilty.
  19. QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 08:27 PM) The minors dont really mean s*** if it doesnt translate to the majors. Avi is not good, it's very likely that he will never be good. ok, i take what you will give me and accept your POV.... but pls explain to me, statically speaking, the stats to expect from your idea of a starting outfielder in the mlb ranks. use offensive number for your opinion. then use the defense numbers.
  20. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) Like Denny McLain and Bruce Howard? Doh! yeah right.... what ever float your boat.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 06:26 PM) Said it yesterday in the game thread... No idea who will ultimately have the better career, but for 2016, I'd rather see Thompson get the at-bats. i am ok with that, but let them both compete..... go head to head. then take the best person.
  22. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) If given the choice of those two, definitely Thompson. Garcia is quickly reaching Viciedo-type bust status. come on, i like TT just as everybody, but like Saladino, hot bat, it cooled off, the same will happen with TT. lets keep all that in perspective. TT is projected to be nothing more than a 4th outfielder who can occasional start. the outfielder hit in the range of 250 + with 15 hrs ...... does anyone really think the outfielders of today will hit 300+ and 25 + hrs..... wake up and smell the coffee.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 06:05 PM) He's walking fewer people but he's also striking out fewer people. That means more balls in play, more reliance on your defense, probably more solid contact, more home runs/PA. You wouldn't have guessed from those numbers he was going to collapse in August, but you did have reason to say "please don't sign this guy long term there's a real big risk here". yous guys are really looking into this, this is the kind of stuff that i would never have look at now, lets alone 10+ yrs ago. all i know and can relate to is, the old time saying of giving up. he and i will stick to my assessment that he gave up at ASG. i may be a minority here in my way of thinking, but i still don't think he is worth signing a long term contract. but i will still give him a QO.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) The guy was unwanted by the rest of MLB. Certainly if he had MLB ability, some scout would have recommended that he be signed before he came back to the Sox. and i agree, that is why i am thinking this might have been a wake up call. that is if he gets another shot, with what ever team will give it to him.
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) I think he proved he really isnt a major league player, which is why he spent the last year both 1: unemployed, and 2: in AAA His success in AAA this year isnt an indicator of major league success. It is a red herring and you made another good point. but that is the only test that baseball has to gage prospects. how well they do in the minors. now these test can show a prospect is and will be nothing more than a AAAA type of a baseball player. but still he can be a cheap invite to training camp. don't get me wrong, i have never been a fan of his. i am thinking on how the sox FO will see things this spring.
