  1. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 05:02 AM) He promised his parents when he personally went out to California to sign him that he'd "always" take care of their son. True story. And everyone knows how JR values loyalty. Mark good story... let me ask, at what point does that promise is considered fulfill.
  2. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 29, 2015 -> 05:21 AM) Another reason I don't like a full rebuild is because I don't have faith in proper execution. A big problem has been the inability to develop hitters, but if we go full rebuild with the same crew, then that doesn't fix the root problem. We need a change at the top before it makes sense to commit to a full rebuild. i like to think that a full rebuild would need a minor league full of respectful prospects. that is why i do not think the sox can do it. last yr or the yr before. now that is if most want a thorough rebuild. now if they want to go about it in a half arse way, then who knows.....

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 06:38 PM) I'm definitely in the wait and see mode. He's not had great success in the minors. Let's see how he finished the season. yeah i agree. but i was letting all enjoy themselves right now. there hasn't been many things to feel good this season. remember just like saladino coming to earth.
  7. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 03:49 AM) It's not the manager's fault but a change of voice would do wonders. i guess i would debate this b/c of the philosophical opinions on how much a manager is at fault.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 05:39 AM) Seriously, nobody on this board thinks they are in contention for a WC. Grobstein laughs off any caller that suggests such an absurdity. I think it's worse than mediocre. I think it's a sub-par team. I would agree with anybody who calls it a "lousy team." I did see you said mediocre "at best" which is probably fair. AT BEST. at the trade deadline, i gave up hope..... but part of me still wants the sox to win every... freaking.... game. baseball ends when the sox season is over. i then start looking at the draft and college players.
  9. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 05:22 AM) Rodon for Arenado straight up, who hangs up? Would you be happy with that? a total win for Col. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 06:22 AM) Has anyone even bothered to check Arendo's stats away from Coors? Home: .300/338/534 103 wRC+ Away: .253/289/431 95 wRC+ Can't hit away from Coors, and at Coors can only manage a 103 wRC+ in his career. Kid is a great at third, no doubt (+60 DRS in three seasons), but we need more lumber. We already have the poor mans version of this in Saladino. that should be the end of this conversation on getting Arenado. nice one.
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 04:52 AM) I don't know man, LDF you know my feelings on the idea of trading Q. just gots to be different
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 03:38 AM) Well, things just got really disgusting. The NY Daily News newspaper's front page tomorrow is a picture of the gunman's point of view shooting the woman with the caption " EXECUTED, ON LIVE TV" Absolutely disgusting, and whoever approved of this to be the front page needs to be fired immediately. http://www.nydailynews.com they did it to sell papers.
  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 03:45 AM) Another financial possibility is if CO found a taker for Jose Reyes, although CO would have to send money with Reyes in a trade but it would still free up some money. He's not happy in CO, that's for sure. Reyes-"You come from a ballclub that was competing for a spot in the playoffs. And you come to a club in last place. You think about that," Reyes said of the trade that ripped him out of Toronto. "I'm at the point in my career that I want to win," Reyes said. "I say it over and over. I want to win. I don't want to spend the rest of my career on a last-place team. That's not the kind of player I feel like I am." "We'll see what happens here," he said. "But in the next couple years, I don't want to waste my time like that." http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-154920673.html Problem is with his salary and recent quotes, CO will have a hard sell on him. Maybe the Yanks would take a chance? There's potential for the Rockies to free up more money if they can get creative. I just cannot see why CO would trade Arenado since he's young enough to build a future team around. this is one of those times that when does baseball is a game and when is it a business. it sucks for him.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 03:30 AM) I hate that idea and wouldn't be necessary when they keep wasting money and trades for NL players whose value declines sharply when they put on that Sox uniform. Hopefully Hahn will be stingy trading Q. Let Shark go as well. No more mental midgets. Bring some more kids up. trades for NL players.... but the signing of fa's who were nl players is another thing all together. lets see. kendrys morales - another dh cost 8.5 mil per, 2 yr option 3 adam laroche - dh cost 12.5 avg mil per, 2 yr i see whomever made the actual choice of getting them is this hahn doing??? bad management Jeff Keppinger signed 2 yr 13 + mil
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 04:26 AM) Are you dense? First, the fact that a dual homicide was conducted live on-air is obviously the story. Second of all, an alternative murder video was posted on social media just before the assailant committed suicide. This is a completely f***ing unique, terrifying, modern crime that should be defined as part of history. man, i hate the way i think sometimes. the irony is, the lady was being interview for tourism...... i am not making fun of this senseless crime.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 03:15 AM) Because I believe there is a very slim chance he can be a starter excellent opinion. the sad thing, i totally agree with you. this yr trying to stretch his arm, just got it stronger for the closer / relief role. i am still questioning on his command. nice post.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 12:56 AM) Arenado is the Rockies next Tulo so to speak and really don't see why they would trade him. I know CO is rebuilding and in need of pitching but they could easily do an extension with Arenado and keep him in CO for years beyond their speculated rebuild window. There's nothing wrong with hope but I just cannot see it happening and I'm rather outside the box in my thinking. Maybe I'm wrong. Call me close minded on the subject of Q but I find it difficult to believe the Sox would trade him. His numbers are very close to that of Lester for a whole lot less money. Q- http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts Lester- http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...shtml#contracts I wonder what Q's numbers would look like if he faced the pitcher three times per game? All that said. I do realize the Sox will not fill all the positional holes via FA and no, I do not have an alternative solution to trading pitching for hitting. excellent point. if the sox wanted to help themselves... Q to an NL team .... that team might cough up prospects. well the sox FO has a game plan. i just hope they can do it right in the off season.
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 02:01 AM) Boras for an agent is a good point but if Arenado and CO decided they wanted to work on an extension, Boras would have no choice since he works for Arenado. A few other things to consider are 1) Tulo's contract is off the books and 2) the Rockies are suspected/expected to trade CarGo in the off season which opens up alot of money for CO. Enough money to buy a few FA pitchers this winter and speed up their contention window while holding onto Arenado and their prospects as well. Don't get your hopes up Sox fans. excellent point. i forgot about the money saved from Tulo

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 02:43 AM) An awful start for Montas. He needs to be trade bait this offseason. why... b/c of 1 lousy start.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 02:38 AM) At the best case, Kane and his friends took two willing girls home and one saw a pay day and falsely accused him of something he didn't do. this crap is the reason why i kept on telling and posting, wait and see..... really stupid things to say, when no one knows the facts. let the facts speak for themselves. again, people have opinions and have a right to voice them ...... as do i.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:32 PM) As another poster mentioned, by trading Tulo, their window is now 2-3 years away from what they think they can contend because of the players they acquired for him. They have about 5-6 of those guys that are in that time frame. One of which is 3B Ryan McMahon who is demolishing high A ball at the age of 20. I'd send them Davidson, who will provide a stop gap until McMahon gets there, and others to get Arenado and LeMehieu no offense, but would you do that trade if you were Col?? also take in consideration, that that they don't have a serviceable 1 b and also need another of'er. the Col system doesn't have a whole lot to work with.
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:23 PM) If the Sox can somehow find a way to get Arenado without giving up Q or Rodon. I will dance around naked. ok, i really didn't want to mention this, but Col does not have a 3b to replace him. even in their up and coming prospects. so why would Col trade their excellent offensive 3b????
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 12:14 AM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 36m36 minutes ago Chicago, IL Interesting side note on Trayce Thompson: His best friend and more like a third brother is Colorado standout third baseman Nolan Arenado Tea leaves......TEA LEAVES
  23. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:51 PM) The issue with trying to have Johnson, Sanchez and Saladino in the starting lineup potentially for next season is the lack of power. U.S. Cellular Field is a power-park, these guys are not power / RBI type hitters. You can have some of them in the lineup since they bring needed speed, defense and youth but I don't see how you can keep all of them even if Ramirez is let go. Mark i looked at the sox history in baseball reference for the 90's. the sox had 2 positions that was lite hitting. the lite hitting i am referring to are lack of power. i rather have a good defensive 2b for the future and see what the sox have in store for saladino, sanchez and MJ. it is going to be a very interesting off season. this may even be a better off season than it was last yr.
  24. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 12:07 AM) But then you're moving a guy with GG-caliber defense at 2B to SS where he would reportedly be average at best. I'd like to get Sanchez a look at SS, especially with September coming up, but I don't think I'd want to move him off 2B long-term. I believe he has enough potential with the bat, to go along with his defense, to be an above-average or possibly even all-star 2B. He's hitting .294 since July 1st. Just imagine what his numbers would be if he had hit just poorly, say to the tune of .200, instead of the awful .153 he hit during the months of May and June. We'd all be ecstatic at his prospects for the future. Point is, he has now been good for longer than he was bad and has certainly pushed the need for a 2B pretty far down the list, at least for the time being. But pretty much what Balta said, I'd rather leave Sanchez at 2B, dump Alexei, acquire a 3B, move Saladino to SS as the stop-gap starter, then move Saladino to a utility bench role once Anderson is ready (assuming he'll stick at SS and meet expectations). excellent overall post. just like to add something, 2b, to me, have been considered a lite hitting player and only shortstop can be compared to for hitting.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:53 PM) Right, it could mean it never happened or that it was date rape. Of course he is innocent until proven guilty in this country which is exactly how I would expect the hawks to respond. Extra short rope, nothing else. you are correct on the bold, but that still doesn't stop the corp // commercial // public opnions. and the hawks still needs to pony up to these 3 to continue the success ($$$) coming in.
