QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 07:49 PM) Free agency isn't the full solution; it can be used to fix one (maybe two) specific needs, but if the White Sox are going to re-sign Samarzija, they probably won't be in the free agency market for much else beyond role type players offensively. Most of the help probably has to come internally and/or through trade. There's a good chance that the C (Flowers/Soto) combination could be back, and I'm sure they are encouraged by Sanchez to make him the 2B going forward. 3B, RF and DH would be the area's where holes need to be filled and it's probably unrealistic to assume that La Roche won't play the majority of the time there since he is making $12 million next season and potentially solves one of their holes. ref to rf and dh, i am ok with Avi in the outfield. and what to do with adam laroche. he is under contract and the owners are not going to pay him to sit. if the sox do sign shark then i am looking at the trade route. i can see a lot of help in trading to acquire the missing pieces.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 07:51 PM) 3B is probably the toughest position to fill (if you allow that catcher is probably going to be a continued combination of Flowers / Soto). I don't think Saladino is a major league hitter, and we know Beckham isn't. The White Sox have some decent defense at that spot, but it's the one area where they need to find offense at. To answer your question, I'm not happy with either guy starting at 3B next season. and neither am i. by the way, i was rereading what i wrote, if i came across kinda of strong, i apologize.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) I wouldn't be surprised if two / thirds of the crowd this weekend for the Cubs series are made up of Cub fans. And I wouldn't blame Sox fans for staying away given the franchises performance certainly since September 2012. Something else I've noticed which should be troubling to the organization. On the on-line version of the Tribune the past two mornings, not one word, one story is about the Sox on the page that first comes up on the screen. As bad as the Sox are you'd think the "badness" would get some mention. It isn't. The Sox are becoming totally irrelevant in their own city. Not blaming the papers in one sense (although from a journalistic standpoint it shouldn't matter what the team's record is). My guess is that the majority of the season ticket holders who signed up this year after the off season spending spree on veterans in their 30's won't be back. Mark i have waited a long time for this to come up. but here it is. JR threw the fans who had season tickets and brought other tickets, when he criticize the rest of the fan based. WHY !!! why not make a great mention on the fans who spent their hard earned money on tickets based on faith, based on the fact they are sox fans. but noooo the owners didn't treat the fans as a good friend but as....... nothing. so here is a question, why should those fans re-up and buy tickets.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 07:13 PM) I'm starting to hear a lot more about Nick Senzel from Tennessee. Solid power out of the 2B position, viewed as a top 5 bat. I'm selfishly hoping that the Sox end up getting a protected pick, receive a comp pick for Samardzija, sign Heyward, and then still have 2 high picks in the first two rounds of this next draft. he is interesting and now, b/c of you, i am going to follow him. ACC has him rated in the pre-season rankings. the talk is he is a good contact hitter, with great speed. questionable power, and based on his cape-cod performance may have a high K rate. it is still too early to make any judgement call. it is now time to start looking at names. -
great stuff. a question.... how much of a factor was ozzie's kid being involved.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 07:09 PM) Many states have "rape shield" laws that limit that kind of thing. yes you do have a point on different states. which i do not know if NY is one of them. second, in the examination and cross examination when evidence in introduce and can be question, it might be there where it may come to lite and or intro. leaving the rest to question that line. this is going to be the best lawyers the defense can pay vs the district attorney.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) I hadn't heard that, I would be surprised if he did, this will get ugly and would be very difficult for him to separate his role as her father and his duty as an attorney. that is a great point. can't imagine her cross examine and when they start asking about her past sexual encounters.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) If we were to get a Top 5 pick, are there any stud 3B, SS, or 2B we could get? Enough with taking pitchers. I want a Correa!! you have to know 1 thing, any rankings or idea of how the draft will play out, at this point, not a guarantee. the cape games, other games will give a good idea of prospects being put on the radar until the next season starts. so with that, there is top 8 prospects who are pitchers bot HS and College. then there are 2 nice hitters, Banks and Rutherford. the first power hitter is Dalbec - arz 1b / 3b. projected to be in the 10-15 pick in the 1 st rd. there are some really exciting pitcher in the first 3-4 picks. -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 02:27 PM) If Sox offer Shark a QO ($16 Millionish), will he take it as a one year deal? that is 1 option. and if he does takes it, the sox will be in a win-win situation. they will reap the rewards of his playing better, and maybe building his value. -
QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 02:04 AM) I'm not opposed to making Micah a DH next season if he doesn't improve his defense; Some reports have indicated improved fielding though. If that is true, and he is still a 2B, is Sanchez a backup IF? and are you ok with a weak hitting 3b in saladino. if that is the case, why not keep beckham there. something needs to happen with that lineup in the offseason.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 02:42 AM) Sanchez has hitten much better and with his solid defense, it will hard to displace him next season. The bullpen is clearly better; Robertson has been a good signing and the middle relief, while not great, has been solid. Quintana has to stay. I don't see how he can be moved with the uncertainty of the rest of the rotation. Sale and Danks are in the rotation for next season, but the #3 (or #2 depending on how you view Quintana) and #4 are open. Obviously, Rodon is probably the #4 starter next season, but I think they should consider letting one of their minor league's arm battle for the last job. Minor league development has to be the key here and guys like Montas and Johnson may be the best options since they avoid long-term, expensive contracts and may have good upside themselves. here is my problem. the team has holes, how are the FO going to fix those holes?? either trade or fa's rt. they will not find all the answers vis Fa b/c the owners will not allow them the spend that much. it has to fall back on trading someone or a group of someone's. who?
-
QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 11:34 PM) My God that is bad. you should look at the baseball reference site on the sox page. do the split and see how bad the lineup has been hitting. it seems as they peaked in july .

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 03:02 AM) Yes, you're right. The Sox should've traded the guy they traded for in the off season 2-3 months into this season. Packing it in back in May/June would've been the way to go. Then his 3-4 month rental price would've brought a friggin boatload of prospects. it is all hindsight now, if the main boss, the owner, does not want to, they will not do the trade.

the season will be starting, depending on what point fans will look at. ref season sometime around oct 9 +/-. spring training games sept 22 +/- so from now, until spring training games, the hawks are not in a good situations. Kruger is still unsigned. according to cap sport tac the hawks are 900 K over the cap some players are still on the team bickell and steeger that i can figure on what the hawks wanted to get rid off. my question, beside many, how are the hawks set at the dman spot ???

if according to article, she went to his house with a girlfriend. the other girl in another room, if she was being raped, why not scream. either way, a lot more will be coming out. it is going to be messy.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) His bat's probably not a starting caliber bat even if he's an above average defender at 3b, but if he's an above average defender at SS his bat could make him an extremely valuable SS. i have been thinking about this for the past week. it keeps coming up with this, at least for me. i am thinking, saladino needed to have experience at the top level. this is his intro to the big time. that was why i asked a previous question on something like this. why, to see what the org in him and to get him ready for the SS position. i am also thinking the sox does not want to invest in Alexei for next season, so have saladino as the temp, for at least a yr. until anderson is ready. if not anderson, then deal with the possible trading for a prospects.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) A lot of these guys are living crazy lives but staying out of trouble. Troubke seems to find the same small percentage over and over again. Personally, I think one of Kane's biggest problems, if not most professional athletes' biggest problems, is his "posse". You read local Buffalo stuff about that crew, and beimg in a lot of trouble doesn't surprise a lot of people. posse. that is the key in your post. that also include some of the teammates that are bad influences.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) I agree he is struggling but I am not sure your reasoning is correct. He was not overwhelmed when he arrived because he immediately hit close to .300 for his first 8-10 games. Then he started struggling and now he is really overwhelmed. That may be a sign he has a major weakness and word gets out quickly. He was a .280 hitter for 3 years in AAA w very little power. it looks like Sanchez has the same game w a better glove. I think one will be the reserve inielder next year and the other will disappear. i don't know, i think it is grooming, getting his rep's in, exposure to the major's. in other words, letting him get his lumps in this season. reason, to see what the org has in him and / or maybe replacing or taking a important position next season.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:30 AM) I wonder if we went back to the Duke rape case thread how many people had those players convicted due to the accusation. Because obviously it was a rape, remember. Then the facts come out and its not that. If he did rape her then he deserves jail. On the other hand if she didnt get raped maybe she deserves jail. how bout Kobe Bryant rape / sexual assault case. that is a questionable situation.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:20 AM) If convicted I'd assume he'll serve multiple years in jail and would therefore be unable to fulfill his duties to the Blackhawks. and he would really learned what rape is.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:56 AM) Offense has scored three runs or less in four of their last eight games. Tonight marked the 15th time the Sox held an opponent to three runs or less...and lost. Mark and i would be brutally frank here. danks did not pitch a bad game. the other team scored 3 runs on him. this tepid offense is killing me.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:19 AM) Saladino was a mediocre hitter for most of his minor league career. I truly hope they don't think he's the long-term answer at 3B. worst yet, batting him #2 in the batting order.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:48 AM) And that clause does not extend to not seeking out human needs. Nor does that clause require a vetting process be undergone for all prospective sexual partners. If he is convicted, my guess is the Blackhawks could absolutely terminate his contract based on that clause. no one can do that. i never mention that. but i was saying that there is a clause. between now and the time the final verdict comes down. he is innocent until otherwise. i sometimes get a feeling we are talking about the same thing but express it in different ways.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 01:04 AM) Wow! This argument in regards to how Patrick Kane should somehow need to screen everyone he sleeps with out of some obligation to the Blackhawks, that is really a big fat crock of s***. Let's stop pretending as though the Blackhawks are doing Kane some tremendous favor by paying him millions of dollars to play hockey for them. Do you think that for one second, if Patrick Kane's skills deteriorated to the point where his production no longer exceeded or equaled his compensation that they wouldn't trade his ass in a second? Something tells me that his place as the "face of the organization" wouldn't matter much if he was no longer a superstar hockey player creating a windfall of revenue for them. Let's be f***ing honest here - Patrick Kane makes millions of dollars to play hockey. He is not obligated to be a perfectly moral person. He is not obligated to represent the Blackhawks in his personal life. The Blackhawks and other organizations may wish to place this burden on their employees, but it is generally not something that continues after their skills have diminished. Say what you want about the guy being a dumbass, and if he did indeed rape the woman, then he deserves the appropriate punishment by law. That being said, this notion that he can't be a young adult doing what young adults do because he is compensated by the Blackhawks is ludicrous. He receives absolutely no consideration for having such limitations put on his ability to simply be a human being. Additionally, this faux outrage about boys being boys and whores chasing money is absolutely ridiculous and simply ignoring reality. People can talk all they want about chivalry and some new moral code where men wouldn't possibly believe that a woman who comes to his home the very evening he first meets her wants to f*** him, but that's ignoring common sense and reality. How many people do you bring to your home the very night you meet them if not for some specific, special purpose? How many times, if not to have sex, have you invited or been invited to someone's home in the middle of the night when you simply do not know them? When I say special purpose, I'm meaning someone is throwing a party or my car died outside your house, etc. If you are a heterosexual person, how many people of the same sex have you invited to your home from the bar on the first night you met them? I don't know Patrick Kane. To my knowledge, none of you do either. At the very least, I can say with some level of certainty that none of you are close and personal friends with Patrick Kane. I don't care what Patrick Kane chooses to do on any day other than those days in which he is playing hockey for the Blackhawks, and frankly, he is not beholden to me in anyway to do anything at any time. He has simply entered into a contract to perform services. I would be absolutely shocked if having consensual sex WITH ANYONE was a service not condoned by his contract. Again, if he has violated the law, he will serve the punishment. in every contract that pro players sign has a moral clause in the contract per approval of both the players association and the owners reps. however i like your post.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) He's on a minor league deal if i remember correctly, he was offered a 2 mil contract and the only stipulation is something a 30 day deal of some sort. i do not know the whole language of the contract. now he is on a side contract , value unknown.
