QUOTE (raBBit @ May 9, 2015 -> 07:51 PM) This isn't what I would consider a constructive post. Let's try and add our own contributions instead of ripping others indirectly. maybe with that i didn't answer it properly as well. for me, getting the constant up to date info and stats on the prospects, all the prospects, is great reading to keep tab on their progress. yeah, i am obsessed in reading and keeping myself up dated info. i just can't see, being spoiled by this sire, how other sites posters deal without it.
  2. i think most have said it. it is his defense that will carry him. now comes the idea of how the sox will address this lack of hitting from the SS position. this is my opinion. a 200 - 220 avg hitting ss with a great D in the majors. can the fans and the org live with that??
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 9, 2015 -> 08:14 PM) You keep pushing this money angle and quite frankly it's a ridiculous accusation. The organziation's goal is to win championships, plain and simple. However, they have to operate within a budget like most other teams. You seem unable to differentiate the idea of spending within your means with simply not caring. you are wrong, this group of owners are not doing this for free. they want a profit, i can and see the reason for profit, if they put money into the fielding the team on the field. but only going so far and then blame the fans, claiming they can't afford putting more money into the team. this is $$ Bill sop, put enuf to field a team and do great pr. the fans will come. however, the sox fans are smarter. plus with another baseball club in the city, the competition just got tougher. the sox have been making, according to forbe's over 200 mil a yr since 2012. what has the total salary of the team has been in those yrs??? how much profit do the owners want to budget themselves?? and i am just writing on the known profits that forbe's write about. i am not talking about all the sub companies they owned so they can a. claim it as a. taxes, b. sell to other vendors thru that company and c. make additional profit. so in retrospect are you satisfied with the way the owners are performing, up to this day?
  4. then to my org statement, the sox should have left it alone. they are trying too hard to build support and to justify their reasoning's. maybe it is their attempt to fix their perception of accountability issues. i am just wondering
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) Yes. The front office needs to take advice from message board fans on how to run their billion dollar operation. haha, maybe they should, they haven't been doing a good job so far. but then again, i wonder what their internal goal is, pure profit or championship rings?? ``` edit, when i say pure profit, i should define pure profit, i am thinking along the lines of max profit.
  6. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ May 9, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) I don't think its silly at all, I'd be all over it if the Sox did something like that. many thanks.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) "Mostly, we just want to give the other teams chances," a smiling Williams told MLB.com before Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Tigers. "We figure, let them out of the gate and we'll make a dramatic comeback from a slow start. It's by design.... I said early on that it's a team that's built for the long haul, and that I wouldn't get too concerned with a slow start because of that fact," Williams said. "Where you can get concerned at a slow start such as this and the way that we've gone about it is if you don't have the talent to overcome it. "So, the encouraging things are that the bullpen through it all has shown itself to be one that will be formidable throughout the course of the season and once we get the other things on track. I'll throw in a little bit of smart baseball to go with it. We've got to stop trying to force the issue on some things. I think we'll be fine." http://m.mlb.com/news/article/122960958/ke...t-for-long-haul so this was my seventh time read this, am i really reading this comment in the bold right??? i will stop here and see if this bothers anyone else. `` edit, oops.
  8. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ May 9, 2015 -> 03:32 PM) Yeah, its the same thing as MLBTV so I get what you're saying. Something like a Sox network that only shows Sox related baseball games? yeah, i know i am probably being silly with this idea, but i think it would be great listening and will help develop more of a fan base for the org as a whole.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 9, 2015 -> 03:23 PM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20150509 Penny, Montas, Fry/Wheeler, Martinez lets keep this rolling, fellas.
  10. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ May 9, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) Caulfield is right, its pretty cheap. $50 http://www.milb.com/milb/multimedia/ friends.... i am not talking about the cost. if i remember correctly, those games are the games that you, as a fan, can not control. i am a sox fan, i only want to watch sox minor league games, not some other mlb baseball team crap.
  11. a. i really don't think it was a leak but a interview. b. i believe it was intended to show confidence and support, c. oh i can't wait until that crap hit the mlb trade rumors site, then the rest of the baseball world will know how much of a dysfunctional management the sox have. d. eddie einhorn (sp) one of the other owners used to be the face and person for the sox owners, that was until he screwed up. then JR took over. i really believe that this was a planned interview, it is time the owners get a new face and give that person the power of the org. pretty much as they did before with JR. maybe one of the owners kids, could step up. last, i guess if RV is ok with being the sox owners lapdog, i guess it is KW and Hahn job to make sure he is paper train.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2015 -> 03:03 PM) All you have to do is subscribe to milb.tv Very cheap...most AAA and AA games, quite a few A level. i don't know about the cost, i am talking about watching just the sox minor league games. i really don't give a hoot about the teams players.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 9, 2015 -> 11:04 AM) No offense, but we need MORE Chicago reporters to come out with stories like these. I'm not a Levine fan, but I'm glad he reported this. ok, you made your point, my question is why?? btw, do you see this whole article as RV doesn't have a clue to manage??

  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 9, 2015 -> 06:31 AM) Yeah, I thought that was appalling as well. Skills? Robin needs to walk out, I tell ya. i am with you, how can anyone with self pride take that!!!!!
  16. you see, the sox org can broadcast this game. we as fans will enjoy watching these young kids developed. esp now with some exciting youngsters.
  17. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 9, 2015 -> 06:19 AM) Haha. So is Beck just gonna shine the bench with his ass for a day basically? it is good to have that extra arm in case of......
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 9, 2015 -> 05:38 AM) I don't like it. Hahn comes across as having second guessed Robin in conversations or told him how to do some stuff. Even if Robin needs that, it shouldn't be made public. Robin should quit now. I'm convinced of that. Like I said, the front office is not without flaw. The roster arguably is not that of a winner. Abreu, Robertson are smash hits; LaRoche yuck; Melky yawn. it is not only Hahn but Williams as well, and by default, the owners. i am still laughing at this part, their upper management skills.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2015 -> 05:47 AM) I think they let too much out to Levine (cbs chicago/tv talk show personality and beat reporter)...then had to explain or clarify the remarks...so, in the end, it comes off as no change at all. And then obviously they weren't willing tto explain any substantive changes, hiding behind executive priviledge and the theory it would assist the opposition even more than the poor defense, baserunning and fundamentals. See...they even try to walk back the "hands on" comment. “I don’t think anything has changed dramatically, as far as the amount of communication that occurs around here,” Hahn said Thursday. “More recently, the issues have been more consistent and run a little bit deeper. Therefore our conversations have run longer. This is more about making sure we are covering everything that is going on. I would not say we are more hands on. We are having open conversation about all of our issues, which at this point at least last week were pretty numerous.” that was part of the contradiction i was referring to. btw, if they had to backtrack, as you said, my question, why do the interview. didn't they see this as overkill? from a group who is extremely hard to get anything out, now they want to spill to much?? it just doesn't make sense.
  20. it is really not about the money. it is about a game that you love and been part of you for a long time. the sox really didn't do RV any favors on this article. my thinking is, didn't they run this past their PR firm or person or dept??? if this was part of that dept, this was worst than the video on national new the other day. this made RV look like an idiot. again, this person should be fired. i have been defending RV, but now i feel sorry for him.
  21. maybe it is me, but i find this article insulting to the fans to accept and it reaks with contradictions, cmon, who wrote this. was he doing this as a favor for the sox brass. front office needed to work with the manager to draw up a more pragmatic approach. a new manifesto. give me a freaking break. was this suppose to encourage me that the sox was on the right path???? here is a beauty on accountability issue. Hahn and Williams simply used some of their upper-management skills to impress upon Ventura and his staff to take more control of in-game player activity. yup convinces me of the FO doing their due diligence. i am sooo convince this org is run like a grammar school and the owners are the principals. they should have just left it alone.
  22. i am in a sticky wicket, a confuse state, in a dilemma or a quandary, of the radio station. i get angry with the sox owners for not spending enuf, but here i want them to buy a radio station,
  23. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ May 9, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) I think he will at some point, he's just not going to be the player that the majority of people thought the Sox were getting after the trade. Glad to see he's improving. Nice to see Hawkins get a clutch hit too. Really pulling for him after I got to meet him at Soxfest this year. Seems like a really good guy. me thinks sooner.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ May 9, 2015 -> 02:19 AM) Another bad start for Funkhouser tonight. Considering how everyone thinks he's a finished product, his numbers have not been that impressive this season. i hate this, but i will say this again, pls forgive me..... i will play devil's advocate. he has a nice set of tool for a pitcher, a set of tool for some good coach to help effulgent > polish
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 9, 2015 -> 02:19 AM) Davidson 1-2 with 2BBs. That's encouraging. Cleto has been untouchable this year. Engel and Peter continue to hit. Dykstra got lit up tonight. Lowry continuing to have a great season. i can see Davidson coming north sooner than expected.
