QUOTE (raBBit @ May 7, 2015 -> 05:51 PM) The Sox love the low milage/high doubt to start arms. If that's a thing. I really hope all the meatballs put the "Keith Law hates the White Sox" stuff to bed. I don't know if it has something to do with Hahn taking over but he has great respect for the Sox and expresses it far more often than the Sox even deserve. at least he give credit to the sox for developing the pitchers. that first part was confusing on how it was copied. then i got it. the first part was the question and the last part was Law answer.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 7, 2015 -> 05:30 PM) Keith Law chat: Justin (Chicago) Rumor is the White Sox are targeting college pitchers with their first pick. What are your thoughts on organizations who target only a specific group of players? Specifically to the White Sox, they really have not developed a hitter forever. Do some orgs just feel as though they have a better strength and developing position players or pitchers, so they target them more? Klaw (1:23 PM) I think the White Sox have such a good track record developing pitchers I wouldn't question them taking another one - it's a clear core competence at this point. I've heard them specifically on Tyler Jay at 8. if the Jay selection is indeed true, i really have a hard time trying to figure that one out. the last time the sox selected a rp in the first round, well i let some one else who want to look it up. either way, nice find.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 7, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) I hope Guerra slides through the waiver. Always felt like he could be a good last guy in the pen. i am in agreement here.

QUOTE (raBBit @ May 7, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) Astros farm system has taken a hit. With guys graduating and a couple trades their farm is middle of the road. Colin Moran is such a blah prospect. I want to get a better 3B than Conor Gilaspie not perpetuate Conor Gillaspie's production with a guy who has a different name. they have some talent on the cusp of making the big league from their farm.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 7, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) Can't trade draft picks. something in the cba it was agreed to something about the draft picks. second, the comp picks can third, an agreement of some kind to the prospects after a certain date, can be traded.

a discussion was made earlier about signing cap and bonuses related to draft picks. i can't remember the whole discussion. but i found this, for this yr draft. 2015 MLB Draft Slot Values http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/2015-mlb-draft-slots/

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) Have you ever heard of Chris Sale or Jeff Samardjiza? oh what i love about Chris and Jeff, they wanted to take care of business, the old fashion way, in private and now. not thru the press as some chicken s*** players have done. do you remember abot carlos zambrano and his catcher after they left the field, during a game and went into the clubhouse and took care of business. then came back out and finish the game.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) So are both of those guys. i don't know about that. i will give way to you on this. i just like that quick and biting ability to be an instant smartass. pretty much like bo jackson and jose valentin.

my personal dislike for the team and his agent is preventing me of really saying anything. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/stephen...williams-050515

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 03:14 PM) Have you ever heard of Chris Sale or Jeff Samardjiza? lololol but MB was always good for a biting remark and quickly.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) And that is why I love Mark. the sox needs that kind of an attitude again on the south side.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) Buehrle describes the reports of his ailments as "horses*** reporting". Says he will only need to go on the DL if he goes out and gets hit by a car walking across the street. http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/mlb/to...of-the-ordinary EXCELLENT .... a real typical response from MB. i still wish the sox will sign him next yr.

damn, i was really hoping that chi could have done it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 01:58 PM) Last night Sale really struggled with his mechanics. He couldn't stay with his release point, and he just generally looked uncomfortable. i have read in the past, where some pitchers were rushed or they rush back too early from an injury, and their mechanics really screwed them up for a couple of seasons.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) Looking at the way the team does things, I definitely see them bringing him up at some point this year as a 4th OF. Probably not yet - likely after the trade deadline and once he's (hopefully) shown his improvement is a lasting thing in AAA. But once he's not been traded, and if he's still looking good, I'd bet he'll see Chicago for at least a September callup and probably more than that. Even if he's only a bench guy from August on (for example), he doesn't lose a lot of development. The question is what to do with him after the season. Assuming the existing starting OFs are healthy, do you want him as a 4th OF long term? Probably not, so he's likely going to be traded to someone who will give him a shot. If an injury occurs, he's the call-up almost assuredly. after the season, good question, i can see the sox not picking up EB extension, esp if he doesn't improve as the season gets older. maybe do a package with him and someone else for a prospect / player.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) Are they wearing the '83 unis again? They should. oh they really should ..... don't screw with lady luck. she is really an unforgiving person.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:34 PM) They have cut back because it takes it's toll, but I think it is possible they have cut back as much as they have because he really had not pitched in many games. He was fine without it his first few starts. I think we will see his slider percentage increase a bit from it's current levels. I also think his command is a bit off lately, and that could be because of the lack of spring training as well. You had to figure it would catch up to him at some point. I was pretty surprised he was as effective as he was when he first came of the DL. I wouldn't be too worried about his last 2 outings. you know, you may not like this, but i must be too tired, b/c you are really making a whole lot of sense this morning. i just see that if the pitchers are not fully limbered, and that comes with reps on the mound in ST, the toll as you said, on the slider and for me, the curve ball, takes a whole lot of action. so yeah, i would see him having a late start so to speak, on his performance.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) I think that's exactly the point I was trying to make -- we had a hitting coach who said ridiculous things like "I want guys to expand their zone with runners on base," to a guy who came from the A's and says things like, "I need our hitters to be patient so that they force the pitcher to give them a good pitch to hit," and we've seen no real change in the results. that is a great point you are making. 2 different ideas. i am confuse, internally of this approach.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) So you agree that playoff appearances is not a good way to evaluate if a coach is doing a good job and should be retained? i don't think so, i personally, and now, esp with B Bickell - hockey contract after his playoff performance, am more skeptical. i want to judge the performance over the duration of a year.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 7, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) Honestly, what would the Sox do with Trayce? I think he'd be a better bench option than Shuck because he's a better CF defender but do the Sox want to relegate Trayce to 4th OF status? If he finally puts it all together, would they rather keep him in Charlotte instead of putting him on the big league bench? i know this wasn't a reply to me, but let me add this, Trayce performance and Shuck breakout, came as a surprise to me and i am sure, to many as well. i rather have this surplus of extra bodies right now, and later in the season deal with what to do with it. i would like to see this performance continue for more than a month.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2015 -> 01:44 PM) I agree. People are complaining he doesn't throw enough sliders, he's this, he's that. He basically had no spring training. He was going to struggle at some point. Look at Lester. He had more spring training. For as careful as the White Sox are supposed to be with him, when they are careful, that is wrong as well. plus it is good > great that he is resilient, ah to be young again, to recoup fast. btw, doesn't the slider take rep before it starts to be more than a show me pitch?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) Maybe not. Preston Tucker, Colin Moran and Domingo Santana would be interesting. Appel and Correa aren't going anywhere. my question is, what will Hou be willing to give up?? would an agreement of both of their first rnd draft picks plus their comp pick and lets say 2 of the players selected?? maybe the sox can kick in chris beck and add the third player, being a pitcher. Brett Phillips - of, Derek Fisher - of, Joan Mauricio - sp, Michael Feliz- sp
