  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 02:35 AM) There's no reason to believe he'll come at a nice salary. It seems like he's likely to earn a >$10 million a year multi year deal and he's not that much better than De Aza was. thanks, i appreciate what you are saying, but side by side, stats wise, DeAza come no where near him.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 02:33 AM) They both are SP i would have thought Brandon was a rp due to the innings he threw. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...traderumors.com
  3. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 01:45 AM) Top song about a woman with the woman's name in the title. I'm going with the Rolling Stones Angie. Michelle > Beatles. how bout Eleanor Rigby also from the Beatles.
  4. why all the negativity on Markakis?? if he comes at a nice salary, why not take a chance? 2016 fa class has some real nice bats.
  5. any major surprise guess who may be an interesting pickup??
  6. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 02:04 AM) I believe they both have had 2 TJ opps. there is 1 who is the sp, i would really like a chance at him.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 11:48 PM) Actually you got me thinking about threads that got moved out of PHT, and I found the Tanaka thread rules them all at 2556 replies. could you also imagine how much more replies there would have been if the sox indeed made a trade. i will admit, it was fun seeing all the posters sign in. like old times. jeeze, I really must stop that, its is make feel real freaking old. "old times"
  8. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 01:50 AM) I'm not a huge fan of Bruce or anything....I just think he's intriguing enough to take a risk on for what could be at most 2 years and 26M....especially if Leake is attached. Trust me, he's no where near my ideal LF in a perfect world. Cincy is in need to clear some salary space as well get some salary relief. I can live with Bruce, if Cincy adds a throw in player.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 11:28 PM) Also, I think the bigger impediment to his tradeability is his down year. The reason the Rockies probably won't trade him is because they don;t HAVE to. They can let him try to rebuild his value, which he'll probably do if he can stay healthy. the most perfect idea in him.
  10. it will also open up spots if the sox claims anyone.
  11. for the past yr, i have been thinking of DV more of a platoon player. he tho his splits haven't shown a big difference. he does have more power in 1 of them. i always thought his problem was more mental than talent.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 10:50 PM) $5 million on a $100 million deal? Yes, I think a guy would leave that on the table. People leave that on the table just by the states they move to if they head to a state with a high tax rate. $5 million per year on a $100 million deal is a much bigger change. ok, i will respect what you are saying.
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 08:38 PM) I hope Hahn's goals aren't acquiring a taller midget. No reason to aim so low so early in to the offseason. are you talking about a mental midget....
  14. while i do understand what you are saying, I just don't believe when a mlb in today will leave money on the table. I mean a nice portion of money. Think about it, will a player leave 3-5 mil on the table b/c they didn't like a for whatever reason they have of a certain place.
  15. [ i like the idea of Markakis, if the sox can't get a trade done for someone else. that is the trade that Hahn has in mind. any one has thought about Travis Wood, pitcher? sounds interesting.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 10:20 PM) 3100 career plate appearances .329/.387/.601 vs, .258/.314/.437 which includes around 400 appearances as an A where his splits were close to the same home and road. .339/.400/.625 at Coors Field in his career. I think a lot of has to do with the thin air, and big field. it has been mention by the mlb people that coors has a big advantage b/c of the thin air. it make the hit ball travel farther.
  17. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 04:48 AM) If people think Shark is going to get 18-20 a year, I think I'd much rather just sign Scherzer for a couple million more AAV and keep the specs. try like 25-28 mil.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 11:39 PM) Hopefully, if they stick with him, this ends up a fair comparison. I know the Sox like to challenge their prospects and they have their reasons for doing so, but a lot of times they do end up rushing these guys and it's hard for them to recover. When Beckham struggled in year 2, I think they could have easily justified sending him down to work on some things. Same thing with Viciedo now. When you're going to be paying him $4 mill, how can you justify sending him to the minors? I have always liked Viciedo despite the numbers, but he's between a rock and a hard place right now. man you are going on a ledge here. i will give you credit when i see that most have given up on him, including me. I, for the sake of the Sox hope you are right.
  19. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 02:31 AM) He was a pleasant surprise last year. IMO his first full season is very underwhelming in all aspects, I see him as a long shot at this point. i know, i hung my head in shame, i really thought he would fly thru the system, esp with his stuff. but i still have faith in him. yeesss sir i do.
  20. i listen to the interview. what i found interesting and funny, it was like a msg from the sox org to us, the fans, to somewhat give us a heads up and to let us know, none of the major prospct will be traded. this is my opinion.
  21. i always like Markakis but is salary was ranging higher than i thought he was worth. now, i wouldn't mind the sox kicking his tires so to speak and find what salary he is expecting.
  22. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 02:19 PM) How many games would that trio win in 2015 with the Sox as now constructed? Assume no major injuries to them, and they collectively get 90-100 starts. with or without Shark, the sox are in a better situation than last yr. i am also counting on some of the young prospect to develop and assume roles on the team.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 02:29 PM) Well, assuming no other moves? Well, the bullpen really hasnt been addressed yet outside of Duke, so im not going to give these guys a bunch of wins. If the Sox swing a Shark trade, you have to think Bullpen is next on the agenda to give these guys some protection after the 7th inning wasn't it implied that Bassitt, Beck and again, E.Johnson will be given a chance to earn their position come spring. either way, i am waiting for tues night for the final waiver list. Buddy Carlyle, Dana Eveland are 2 of 4 rp i am looking at.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 09:09 PM) I do know I once read the Sox were so close to a deal to get Randy Johnson, and this was before he broke out as a good pitcher, they actually had a uniform hanging for him in their clubhouse. Johnson is a weird pitcher. Didn't become decent until he was 26. Didn't become dominant until he was 29, and was awesome pretty much through his entire 30s. i know the story was when JR met with him, Randy was kind of a free spirit and that do for JR. again, i do not have the time to really express myself on free spirit. fill in the missing pieces.
  25. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 09:03 PM) I like how alot of people are hardly mentioning johnson at second base. Keep putting semien and sanchez a head of him. Pretty sure sox have johnson going before the other two. If johnson can hit for average and gets on base then it's going to be fun watching that speed on the bases. I'm really hoping he works his way to the leadoff spot and eaton batting second is going to be alot of fun to watch. i am not, don't get me wrong, i like johnson. he needs at least 1/2 season more in the minors. however, come spring things may be different. Semien is my starting 2b for now.
