  1. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 04:38 AM) He put up a .572 OPS last year. I bet Cleuluis could do that. with the advance stat aside, do you think he is no better of a SS then Cleuluis?
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 02:44 AM) If they traded Alexei, it would make sense to give him a look. Boras being his agent doesn't mean much, he iwould still be controlled through arb. He has some talent, but hasn't been the same simce he hurt IIRC a hammy. PED, DUI isn't a great mix. I read somewhere he also had a domestic battery. If that is true, you probably would have to pass. that position should be filled before any movement of Alexei.
  3. a statement was made about what can be done differently. this is not a response to anyone in particular but it was / is a great question. the sox won the WS in 05. the honeymoon was there. but nothing positive was happening. 1. what was going on?? it was a this time that the rebuild should have happen. whether it was 2010-2011 +/- a yr. someone can look at this and say hind-sight and the answer is yes it is. but if i can see this when i was really sick at the time, then someone else should have see it. 2. would a better GM or a skilled one should have done something. 3. with all the BS that happen during that time diverted the energy at the time.
  4. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 09:31 PM) Obviously BPA for this camper, but like others here, hoping one of the two lefty sluggers with potential for manning LF becomes that BPA, or can be reasonably justified at pick 8. BPA in theory is a good idea if the team is stacked, but the sox system is lacking and have plenty of holes that needs to be fixed. i can see the sox taking a college player in the first rd and the rest of the draft will addressed their agreed breakdown of the teams needs. outside the top 5 players of the draft, in my opinion, the talent of players is not as strong as past draft. however there are a lot of HS'ers who can really help the systems.
  5. QUOTE (59th street @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 11:59 PM) Thanks for the link and for fixing the name. Any opinion as to if he is worth picking up if we do trade Alexi? i have been waiting for someone to ask this question. now E, Cabrera does have a huge suitcase of problems. now with JR and his apprehension of signing players with a history of problems, PED-DUI. i just don't know. for me, i don't know if its getting a talented player for the team that i can overlook all that crap.
  6. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 08:01 PM) This was just from what was reported and I'm taking at face value. KW said from about 2007 on that eventually they would do a complete rebuild when they thought the time was right. At that time he said that they still had a number of veterans performing well and they didn't feel it was time. Thus is not some in side knowledge, just quotes from KW. and thanks i appreciate that you are responding.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 03:23 AM) My first 2 picks, I'd love either Fulmer/Bickford at 8 and Duggar/Orimoloye in round 2. well based on this list, i still think Fulmer will still be a reliever on the next level. on Bickford, at 8, i will pick him there. this is the problem i am having, Bickford should be higher. i still like Happ at 8. at the second rd, yeah i like Orimoloye as you have, but if Tucker / Stewart / Barker are there at the second rd, i would pick any of them. now is what i would like to figure out the strategy the sox would employ. pitching or hitter. i still think it will be a college player instead of high schooler.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 23, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) Your display name has changed. Your login remains the same. can i submit a pict to use under my name.
  9. this list really surprise me, esp in the 4-15 range. i do see 2 players i would love in the 2 round. too bad the sox can not get a 1-comp rd pick. this draft is sooooo deep in great HS players.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 02:18 AM) When a guy in the NL is "better but not by a lot" and gets to face pitchers...the guy in the AL wins. a very good point. remember the old saying of the pitchers face tougher comp b/c they don't face the pitchers batting.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 02:19 AM) Here's the trick. We acquire ALL the lefties. We also acquire Ethier. We win.
  12. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 02:01 AM) I ask this honestly and not with sarcasm but was the idea of " rebuilding on the fly" a few years ago KW's idea or was he just going with JR's plan? The "rebuild on the fly" stuff KW used to speak of sounds like the time frame you describe JR wanting to give it one more go. yeah i know what you mean, to me i would believe he is throwing JR under the bus for the public consumptions.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 01:41 AM) KW philosphy is Hahns philosophy. Remember KWwanted to start the tear down 1 year earlier but JR wanted to try it for one more year with the veteran team. KW agreed with the change in the team direction. He always said there was a time when it was going to need to happen. i really respect your knowledge and general overall skills. however, i will take this with a grain of salt. i really didn't believe it when it was posted before and i still don't. it reminds me of spinning a bad situation. but then again, what the hell do i know.
  14. i am really mixed on the sox signing Melky. part of me, yeah, his stats does look good, will look even better batting #2 in the sox lineup. the other part, how many yrs, and salary.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 10:12 PM) I had a funny conversation with a lifelong dodger fan and season ticket holder yesterday who couldn't believe the Sox want either Seager or Pederson for Alexei. He was so pissed, especially when I pointed out that neither of those 2 have done s*** in the bigs yet. I got a good laugh out of it. you have to excuse that person, probably had a shelter life.
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 09:59 PM) That's the kind of trade Hahn made last year, and I hope we keep with that philosophy, rather than overpay for declining sport center headliners. harsh, but i like it.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 09:56 PM) Outside of Carlos Rodon, there is no higher ceiling in the White Sox system than Micker. i then stand corrected and thanks for giving me this opinion. i will look different on him from now on. i really appreciate the info. now the point i am making, i would rather trade him who is at least 4 yrs away, to get a blue chip prospect/young player |s| who can help now. i really mean a real blue chip player.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 09:15 PM) In a heartbeat. Micah Johnson and Andre Wheeler/Adam Lopez, something like that. i like it, it does break up the logjam in the MI, and help them in other areas. i might switch Micker Adolfo with Wheeler.
  19. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) This may make it less costly to acquire Ethier. If the Sox could get him without having to give up any significant talent, or the draft pick that a free agent acquisition involves, maybe it would be worth paying almost all of that contract. He is probably still a terrific hitter vs. RH pitching, given a chance to play regularly, and where he would be more wanted, than his current position with the Dodgers. not bad thinking, someone like Beck for Ethier. but that whole salary to swallow. that is what is stopping me.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) No. Just the tweets from people 'in the know' like Garfien, Hayes, Merkin, etc. It's getting a little old talking about what they might do. I just want to see what they actually do in the next 5-6 days. Obviously Sale won't be traded. whew.... i was just not sure what you meant. but i do agree. i am torn between 2 things with the tweets. i hate the simple obvious tweets that is a given. however, i do like to know what is happening. bottom line. i would prefer to know what is happening. btw thanks for answering.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 08:53 PM) Zzzzzzzzzzzz... Do something! i am a little confuse. are you asking for Hahn to do something, like to trade Sale?
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 05:28 PM) NO GIVE THEM SANCHEZ OR JOHNSON, NOT MY SEMIEN (this does not read well out of context) i was thinking of something like trade them Sanchez but leave my Johnson, Semien alone.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 07:33 PM) While an original idea, it's also a bad idea for reasons stated above. Pitcher blows out his arm? Boom, millions go to waste. Wasn't even a good idea in the past. Koufax? Career cut short due to overuse. That's the greatest pitcher ever having to retire at 30 because he pitched too much for his arm to physically handle. And even though no one is reaching 300 IP foolishly anymore, the league leaders still hit around 240 IP+ Pitching can also be more stressful now. With scouting reports and video, people know to look for a pitchers offering and exactly what it will look like. Pitchers are also just throwing harder. If you want pitcher's careers to be in jeopardy and risk millions of dollars, then this is a great idea. Otherwise, it's bad. And let's get some non-legendary examples of such things working in the modern era. Bumgarner had an all-time post season performance. Bob Gibson is an all-time great pitcher. bingo, there was a thread of "when or what made you a sox fan" or something to that extent several months ago. i was thnking and for me it was around 68-69 Wilbur Wood rookie or first yr. he pitched over 300 innings that yr, won 25 games i believe. 300+ innings..... i can't even imagine that.... that was normal then. edit ^^ overuse ..... Dizzy Dean pitched a double header in 1 day.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2014 -> 02:14 PM) For some reason, there are some actors in certain roles that I just have a really hard time imagining anyone else in. For me, Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese is one of those. And I'd go so far as to say it would be tough for most Hollywood types to get him right - the tendency will be to go too pretty. Everything about the Reese character is the opposite of some sort of sex symbol, or should be. a very great post, excuse my english, i can't think of word to describe it. thinking of what you wrote, is like using anybody in place of Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hill Cop.
  25. many a teams, if thinking about trading with the Sox, will start off by asking for Anderson and / or Montas.. btw, i see Bassitt value as high as Montas. it any team wants to trade a blue chip prospect or young player, for Bassitt or Montas, i may consider, depending how much more the sox will need to add.
