  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Is it crazy to consider AJ for the 2 slot? He hits for a high average, puts the ball in play, being a lefty probably means he puts the ball to the right side fairly often. I don't think he strikes out too much, but I'm not really sure about that. The only downside would appear to be the double play, due to the lack of foot speed. What does everyone think? Should the Sox try AJ hitting 2nd in Spring Training to see how he does? not too bad of an idea there. lets look at it this way, the #2 hitter will see alot of fastballs and with the speed on the base with pods, you can make an argument on how the #3,4,5 hitter will be better with runners in scoring positions.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 8, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) Eddy and Tyson are both FA's after the season right? I still think this team is 1 year away from really becoming a force, so I say trade away one of them to get something good. i think they are restricted fa, but i am not too sure how that works in basketball.
  3. mate, crede, harris, everett, adkins, politte, cotts, diaz and borchard. obviously not all at the same time. put a combo of the players with a minor leaguer and make a trade for a really good pitching prospect or mlb pit youngster with upside potential.
  4. i keep reading on the rumors pages, that the bull are still interested in trading either curry or chandler esp for a #1 pick. i think this will be a bad move, this team is coming together and i am really liking in what i see out of the youngsters.
  5. according to stats inc, "this yr 2005 draft is somewhat as weak as a draft as 2004 was a strong draft" so with that in mind, the trading is or may not really helped as it did in the past. however, our need is OL and WR. for me, as much as i am high on m williams, is he really fast enuf. deep threat speed, no. he make a nice additions with a team who already has a deep threat. his size and hands are great. (maybe a fa wr would help) with that, if fergunson come out, i would take him with the pick
  6. any thoughts on this yet, with the #4 pick da-bears slect ..........
  7. why couldn't they, the sox, have a baseball camp and invite anyone who is interested in trying out for a contract, try outs.

    what no shoeless joe????
  11. by any chance are you aj?
  12. they got some very promising pitchers and of'ers in the lower part of their systems. some of which i would ask for. that is if paulie, cont, and let anderson is in the deal.
  13. i really wouldn't call them cheap, but i think they are somewhat unsure on how to get the the final solution, that being the championship. i think they are getting bad advice on how to do it. i always thought jr and co will spend the money, but first they need to move into a position to win. i will say this, 2 yrs ago they were there all they needed to add was another pitcher. now we are several pieces away imo to make another move. however can they do by let say getting another pit, cat, and/or another 2b, will that do it....... hell yeah and they will be richer for it. both at the attendance and at the bank.
  14. what can i say that hasn't been said already. have a great one....
  15. comparing athletes from different era's has always been tough and is it really fair?? In my opinion the greatest athlete ever is and was Jim Thorpe. In the 1912 Olympic Games, he won both the pentathlon and decathlon events, setting world records in the events with a half day rest. At the time he set the national collegiate championship, scoring 25 touchdowns and 198 points. He played 6 yrs in major league baseball while playing at that time national football leading his team to world championship in 1916-17 and 1919. Do you know how hard a decathlon is? again this is set in a different era.
  16. that would be a great addition and expanding the fan base as well a pipe line to the asian market for players.
  17. and if you put a winner on the field, a team that goes to the playoff almost every yr or is in the running of it, win a couple of championships, then chi will be a sox team. fans will come if the team is assembled. look at the pick up in fans attendance.

    Is Odalis Perez

imo the sox has too much faith in 2 pitchers, duke and contri. what if one or both fails, what do we have then?? or better yet who do we have to replace them?? if that happens, garland will go to the #3 slot and then hermanson to the #4 pitcher. then we trade and give up prospects to get another lame pitcher. again i am not sold on both el duke and contreras, too many question marks to depend on. are we getting into the hype of the sox machine or are we looking at this with open eyes???
  19. worth the same money as matt clement? would you still have him in the sox rotation? i would and yes i would pay him the money
  20. well i posted my opinion, what are yours
  21. i agree with you on this, as much as i hated to give up the talent, i think we needed garcia more. i still would have kept reed and thrown in crede.
  22. yeah and i still stand by my assessment, and i am being proven right. he may be a great person as a human being goes, but he does have some short comings that i can see. i think a lot of people love his arm and that cause excitement about him. but i still say he will always have a hard time hitting in the majors
  23. for the money he got, i am glad we weren't in the running.
  24. when i was in chi, i was a season ticket holder and yeah i had choice seats, but i love the park. however i heard they improve the other parts that needed it, and i heard it great. i wish i was able to see it. sCrubs fan, i think with the pud of the player they call sosa, i think the fans are starting to see the light.
