  1. after the feb road trip, i will then figure out the bulls are at. what gets me is sometimes the coach gets carried way when the team is not doing to well, whether it is a win or not. i don't know, a heavy handed approach get old. scott has done a great job and has given the fans of chi something to hope and look to, but i can see the team rebel against him. maybe not this season, but i do see it.
  2. welcome to the main board in the chi white sox fan forum. yesssss!!
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 20, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) I know a lot of people would think I'm crazy, but I'd definitely look at grabbing Johnson at the fourth pick. People are talking Ray Lewis good with this kid -- I haven't watched him play enough, so I can't comment on that. But if that comparison is true, or even somewhat true -- wow... Briggs-Urlacher-Johnson, with Harris-Ogunlye-Brown up front -- I don't think anyone except the Pats could even touch that as far as a front seven... look at the the super bowl team that chi had. what a tough front 4 and what a great group of linebackers they had. you may have convince me in this.
  4. i am pretty partial to "you can put it on the board.......... yesssss"
  5. has he ever apologize to the fans for his comments he made???
  6. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) Excellet post! Top-notch! Don't put too much stock into Kiper's mock drafts. The man is the best in the business in terms of evaluating talent and analyzing positions; however, his mock drafts (as previously mentioned) are all about player rankings and where guys (not really SHOULD) but COULD go. That said, I do have issue with a few of his position rankings. QB-Accurate RB-Accurate (Nearly impossible to tell at this point) WR-Debatable (Williams hasn't touched the football field for a year I suppose) TE-Excellent OLine-Accurate (Crapshoot until combines) Now...here come the problems CB-What!? First off, Rolle should be the first CB on the board. Second, a strong case could be made for Justin Miller at 2. After that, any combination of Jones, Rogers, Browner, McFadden is possible. Personally, I LOVE Rogers; this kid is going to be a shut-down corner in the NFL. Derrick Johnson to the Chargers!? Mel, you have to be kidding me. Johnson is arguably the best player in the draft...gimme a break. He can easily be selected in the top 5. DE-Accurate (I think Tuck should go higher, as should Pollack) Thanks SS! if you look at all the draft and where mel made the selection, he has been a 50-50 crap shot. then again, i think some of us can do as good if we had 1. the resources he has 2. get paid full time doing this and not have to worry about earning a living. i think alot of us so called monday morning qb's can do a decent job as well.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) I'm with you on this one. Damaso is the best left handed reliever in the american league. He had an off year last year and he was still pretty darn good, if we got Damaso back to his form from 2 years ago which I think we will then he is absolutely lights out. the best reliever in the AL, are you kidding me .................. and what happens if he doesn't.
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) Your points are valid. The opposite side is, a lot of people on this site haven't seen a lot of MLB players play, they just look at the stats and pass judgement on them ... "he sucks :puke " and so on. As has been pointed out all along, this is a scout's issue. I'm sure they've talked to Shingo as well. we had one success in something like this. lightning in a bottom comes to mind.
  9. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Jan 19, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) I certainly am. Why is everyone so excited about him? No one here's ever seen him play. His number weren't as good as Kaz Matsui's in Japan, so who's to say he's going to perform here. The only time he's seen major league pitching was in that MLB All-Stars vs. Japan All-Stars series, and he bombed big-time. thank you, finally someone said something about this guy that has been bothering me. i have been afriad of mentioning it, b/c i didn't want to come across tooo negative considering my other opinions on this offseason.

    Draft Order

how many times has the sox picked in the middle of the pack??? at least the sCrubs is picking lower than us
  11. he is basically saying he wants to retire by this demand, he must think hou is desperate.
  12. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) Agreed. That's a bit steep, especially when you consider this year's draft class. If you look at draft history, thats far too demanding. I think the only reason you see the Bears move down will be if they feel they can get their guy at a later pick, maybe pick up a third rounder (compensation for the Booker deal) and save some cash. reading in the other sports site and other nfl sports forum, bears trading down for lets say dallas 2 first rounders or another teams 1 , a 2nd and 4 is still possible. what a time for some of the good underclassmen for not coming out. what s***ty luck of us, but look at sfo who could've has the usc qb. look for alex barron or jammal brown both "ot" to be the pick the bears will make.

    QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) we are 15th. damn. btw thanks for the info
  15. granted i am not too familiar with him so can somone give me and others a scouting rpt on him and why we should look at him. ok lets keep out the females out of this.
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) I couldn't agree with you more. I hope you didn't take my "sky is the limit" comment as me saying that had a chance to do any real damage this year. This team is a LONG ways away from serious title contention. What I really meant was that if they're able to keep this core group of guys together that they would have a chance to do some specials things down the road. if they come thru the hardest part of the season and is still in the running for a playoff spot, they may be able to do some real damage in the playoff.
  17. did i miss the draft order for the first round of 2005?? where is the sox drafting.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) That's hilarious. I hope the guy flops and signs for near nothing. I don't know where college and HS players get off thinking they should make that much money and get a ML contract. lets just say i hope he doesn't sign this yr, go to next yr draft, gets drafted and don't sign again.
  19. key word here is Scott Borasshole
  20. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) You are completely ignoring his OBP impact. Koney, & Rowand have spoken about it at Soxfest. They realize that a Thomas ab is worth double the value of any other player on the team. i should have made my point a clearer, i am a big frank backer and several yrs ago i went against the majority here and said that frank is worth bringing back. granted he may not hit in the 300 range, but if you look at what players are making, was it worth the money they are spending on him to bring him back. yes. and yes to the 10 mil contract. so let me say this again, how much is a worth if he hit lets say around the 260 range, hits 20-30 homers and drives in something like 85-100 rbi's.
  21. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Guys, the Bulls are going to stumble. They're too young not to do so. You are going to have guys hitting the rookie wall soon, and the schedule is going to get much tougher. If they do make the playoffs, I wouldn't expect much from them. There is a similarity between the NBA and NHL when it comes to the difference between regular season and playoff games. They take it to another level. None of the main cogs of the Bulls has any playoff experience whatsoever. If they win a playoff series, consider it a MAJOR accomplishment and sign of good things to come. If they don't, which is more likely to happen, consider it a learning experience. Even MJ had learn how to win in the playoffs. However, the resurgence of the Bulls is great to see. They are heading in the right direction. But if "the sky is the limit" is referring to this year's team, I think you are going to be disappointed. excellent post, isn't there a rough road trip coming in feb??? after that then i will see where we are. i hope the young kids don't loose it and still maintain their intensity.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) I never heard anything along those lines. I wish him the best. yeah i too want to wish him the best. it is hard to give up on a dream and come to the reality of life. here is to you and you future.
  23. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) Going to be kind of hard when he misses the first 1/2 of the season. i said this several yrs ago and i am dusting it off again for this yr. what is the value of a player who lets say bats around the 260 range, hits 20-30 homers and drives in something like 85-100 rbi's. is he worth 10 mil
  24. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) I don't think many people have been confirmed as using illegal performance inhancing drugs. Most guys will only be "suspect"--guys who had career years out of the blue for seemingly no reason, a big loss of muscle mass, recurring nagging injuries, etc. Yet after hitting only 9 hr's and a jump to 34 the next, with a .597 SLG in 2001 after SLG % in the low .400's most of his career, something extraordinary happened w/ Aurilia that is hard to explain. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt, saying he's completely clean, his poor d and lack of speed aren't a good match for the sox. The whispers of who took what drugs will continue for the next few yrs. that's another factor KW must use in deciding who to bring to the sox. thanks i was wondering on the names being whispered.
  25. i been wondering about him and his production. has it been confirmed about the roids. if that is the case then yes, lets not even look at him.
