  1. what i fine amusing is all the beat writers writing all those negative stories about him.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) This could be Boras stirring the pot as well. Crede and Weaver are both Boras clients. Let's also remember the White Sox originally drafted Weaver and they did not get him signed, negotiations were acrimonious. Lastly, I have a hard time envisioning the White Sox going out of their way to trade for a Boras client. how many times has kw and jr has said that they will not get any of boras players. the only player left is crede. i highly doubt this is true.
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 30, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) It's been mentioned in this thread before. Both are considered top ten prospects in their system. they may have ranked #9 and 10 in their system last yr, but that still doesn't mean that they were nothing but fillers. according to the trib it appears as they are fringe players. btw nice black and gold colors.
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) Hendry will assemble a very competitive club come August; just you wait. I think he made one hell of a deal here with Sosa. I'm sure he would have taken anything he could get, but held out and got some guys that can contribute to the club for the next few years. Good deal for Hendry; real good deal. Now, look for the finishing pieces of the puzzle to fall into place over the next few weeks. i heard on espn that the prospects the sCrubs got were nothing but fringe prospects. has anyone heard of the names yet
  5. i have yet to see where anyone is saying to are going to the playoff or the world series. so is is wrong to have some optimism as suppose to being talking as we are the ones to beat?
  6. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 28, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) I don't put any stock in this whatsoever. Hitting fastballs is about bat speed. Iguchi could not put up the numbers he did in Japan in a pitcher's park w/out having good bat speed. jugg and soxfan101 good post on bat speed and a very true statement.
  7. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) Thats not racist, black people speak english too. it is a racist remark and if you don't then you are naive or something else.
  8. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) Maybe it is just me, but I would like more than 6 people on the team who can speak fluent english. this is as close as telling everyone that you are a racist. how bout "lets only play the guys that are white" and critic i am surprise at at you. baseball players are baseball players what ever color or language they speak.
  9. come on now, what is this season going to be worth except for the playoff money the owners are going to make. i would rather have the season be over for this yr and lets start up new in the new yr.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Magazine's and various articles. They say the talent is above triple a and below major league talent for the most part. Which makes sense i think. you may be right, i read as much as the next guy and i don't remember reading such a thing. i will give way to you on this.
  11. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:34 AM) Honestly, if we look at Willie with such little value, what can you really get for him? Do not trade him just for the heck of it. Let him play on the bench. Competition will hopefully spark a fire under his ass to a point where he makes every at bat he gets count. Hopefully, at the trade deadline we get some vet at 3B to light that same fire under Crede's ass if he is not performing by then good point and i agree, lets keep willie and see if he see the lite. plus he will be a great plan "B" if this japanese guy doesn't pan out.
  12. QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) Hey, do you watch Japanese baseball at all? Many major league players, while some don't like to admit it, say its a higher level of baseball than AAA. Maybe its not quite up to the major's standards, but I'd say about 40% of its players could easily get starting jobs in the U.S. Most of them pitchers. well i may not agree with your 40% assessment, since we are both not in the professional level of judging talent and grading the league. i will give way to you knowledge of baseball in japan. if it is 40% then why wasn't this guy snatch up and courted by other teams???? Why did he have to settle for less than what he was asking for? why isn't there more influx of those players this offseason? i know i may coming across strong, but i am not in the thinking of this guy putting up good numbers. i will cheer for him and hope for the best. i love the move and if it pays off great. if not, i am still in the thinking that we had nothing to loose and all to gain in getting this guy here. fyi ............... many who posted and predicted good numbers will turn on him if he fails. i will still be in his corner saying that the risk in getting him was a worthwhile risk. i just want him to be given a chance without any major expectations.
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) I have heard japanese baseball considered ''4a''. by whom???????????
  14. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) I am viewing all of this with guarded optimism. The 2003 team, I felt was the best in baseball. Since then I am know we have changed philosophy and team make-up. Both of these things I like. The problem there are a-lot of pieces that we are nto sure of. It will take these key pieces to dtermine our fate. Staying Healthy - Rotation, the lose of one guy is major. Also Dye, Everett, and Thomas. Attitutde - Is the clubhouse mood downgraded by Pierz and Harris? Loss of Lee and Ordonez a positive or negative? MANY MANY foreign players with vast background (2 Japanese, 2 Cubans, Various latino.) Production - Questions marks abound for Contrearas, Hernandez, Shingo, Vizcaino, Hermanson, Crede, Uribe, Pods, new 2B, Rowand, Politte, and Adkins/Cotts. The only sure things we have are Garcia, Buerhle, Marte, Garland and Konerko. I am optimistic and I like the intent the results are a whole other animal. we shall see. i couldn't have said it better. grade = A ..... for effort and unlike others i am still questioning some holes that i am not too sure we have covered and last i question the value of the return of a trade he made with lee (what happens if spod doesn't regain his form and lee has a great yr). holes = sp, rp, 3b ( is crede ever going to get his act together). i hope that rowand and shingo are not 1 yr wonders. i love the pickup of aj and the new asian 2b. gutsy move.

    KW

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 06:03 AM) You have to love the way KW was thinking this offseason. i debated and debated and i can't help myself. so here it goes. boy you are asking alot from kw.
  16. QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 06:18 AM) No one here has even considered lefty Igawa. He's the youngest of the three with the most nasty stuff. Very hard fastball with an unhitable circle change. Great control and poise too. Will probably be auctioned off in 2006 too. 2006 is the only time anyone can bid on him or neg with his team??? need some info here
  17. if a trade is indeed being planned by kw, here is a question. which team really needs a player like willie, assuming he is going to play 2b? btw peart is the best.
  18. LDF

    KW

as being a one of the harshest critic of kw, i really have to give him my props. he has one hell of a offseason. way to go! even if the team is full of question marks, it is going to make spring training very exciting. is another trade in the pipes (willie)? now if he can learn how to make trades.
  19. welcome to the what is becoming a exciting site of a very exciting team.
  20. i am happy the sox are still trying to improve this offseason. however, i find this unusual that i am in agreement with qwerty, man i never thought i would agree with him on anything, but why does alot of people think he is going to put up some good numbers. is the japanese league = mlb............ no so why do people think he is going to put mlb # up.
  21. did you see where borass, by all estimates made something like 20 mil this offseason on his fa's.
  22. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) Both Everett and Dye concern me when it comes to injuries. I also hope Rowand can duplicate last season. too many question concerning the team, but i am excited on the uncertainity of the team.
  23. with the way the bulls are winning, do you think that they are now getting the respect from the ref? some calls are now going for them where you would not see that in the early part of this season. all i have to say is "it is about freaking time the ref are giving this bulls a break."
  24. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) i think he was saying in a couple of years... kind of like the suns.. players can only take a hardass like Skiles for so long. thanks. i forget where i was reading this, some sports mag was saying that the bulls, even though they are doing great, some players may get enuf of his heavy handed approach. this mag even said that scott like doug collins is a great teacher, but may not have the make up to take the team to the next level, b/c all he knows is a heavy handed approach. what gets me is that they even mention phil jackson as a good candiate to come in and finish off the job that scott did, very much like he did with doug collins.
  25. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) I highly highly highly doubt this team would rebel against Skiles. They are finally trusting him, and look where he is leading them. There is no reason for them to rebel against him, what has he done to them? any person will get tired of severe judgement. as i said maybe not this season but it can get old. scott deserve all the credit and should be there for the eventual rewards.
