all i am going to say is sophos is the best out there
  2. How many times now has Williams done something absolutely within his job description and absolutely outside of what Reinsdorf or Einhorn have intended? These things are no secret to those involved, no secret to KW, why does he do it anyway, knowing they will come down on him? Once again I ask, if KW no longer is performing GM duties, which, according to your earlier posts is correct, why do JR and EE put White Sox fans and everyone else through this charade, giving the illusion that KW is still, if not calling the shots, heavily influencing them. If they didn't want the type of story to come out in the Cubune, and I agree with you that under no circumstance did KW or whomever is in charge give JM an ultimatum, at least from the content of that article, why don't they tell him to stay away. Why don't they let the media know that KW is not in charge, and certainly not performing GM duties? Basically I want to know that if KW is not truly the GM, what the hold up is on the announcement? Please don't say he hasn't stepped down yet, because according to you he has already been removed. mainly b/c of loyalty
  3. i don't know about that, the experts have always said that the talent is better in AA. those who will be career minors are in AAA.
  4. true, then why even make this thread in the first place?
  5. I booed Bonds because he's an asshole, and because he pimped out his kids to hold up signs that read "Please Pitch To My Daddy" when they were like 4 years old, and could not have had a CLUE what that meant. I booed all the Yankees because I HATE the Yankees, and always have. I booed the Twins and Royals because they are divisional rivals. I booed Dusty Baylor and Kerry Wood because they are Cubs - did we cheer them a few weeks ago?? Then why would I cheer them now? I booed Chris Berman because he is a know-nothing and does that combover - YOU'RE BALD, CHRIS, ACCEPT IT. The fact that it's an exhibition game does not change my feelings toward any of those people, and I'm NOT going to pretend to like someone just so ESPN thinks I'm "classy". Like they'd know what that is anyway... :finger great reply and booing is part of baseball and the tradition of the game. we are less vocal then other fans in the past.
  6. these 3 arm will help us a lot this yr, esp if we make it to the playoff. they will fill voids except for the reliever position.
  7. too hard to vote, you have to consider black jack, or even lamar hoytt, ed walsh, but if i had too i may vote for billy pierce.

  9. true however, at this point, they can give us 3 great arm to finish off the season.

    Trade Rumors

everything i heard is the same thing. he wants to play in the playoff and he will not go anywhere where there isn't grass.
  11. espn Jake Peavy: Pitching Peavy often is compared to Greg Maddux, both in terms of stuff and control. Peavy has a little more length on his fastball, consistently reaching the low 90s. But he hasn't quite honed Maddux' pinpoint control yet. Peavy's slider and changeup are both above average. He has good pitching instincts and enough confidence in his command to throw any of his pitches on any count. His righthanded delivery was much more effective against righthanded batters last year. He is 8 win 7 losses with a whip of 1.36 espn Oliver Perez: Pitching Perez has command of a fastball that touches 94 MPH, as well as a sweeping slider, curve and change. He can throw his fastball and slider for strikes from two different arm anglesan almost sidearm delivery, and a three-quarters release. He has a slight hitch in his motion that he can make longer or shorter to further throw off a hitter's timing. Although Perez is lefthanded, opposing righthanded batters combined for a sub-.200 batting average last season. But interestingly, the southpaw was much less susceptible to the longball versus lefthanded swingers. Perez is incredibly poised on the mound and doesn't appear intimidated by any circumstance. He is 3 wins and 3 losses espn Mark Phillips, LHP: Fanned 156 in 148 innings at Lake Elsinore, using hot fastball and big-breaking curve. Will need better command in Double-A. Went 10-8 with 4.19 ERA. BA Strengths: When he maintains his arm slot, Phillips shows two plus-plus pitches at times. His fastball touches 97 mph sits in the low 90s, and farm director Tye Waller describes his curveball as "dropping out of the sky." After arriving out of shape for his first spring training, Phillips now understands the commitment needed to be a professional. He has a clean, effortless arm action all 3 are reported to be a future #1 starter material. ref to nevin, they are desperate in moving nevin, why who knows, maybe someone would know. but the thing is mags mention that he wants to play in sd and why not accomdate him. he could be the "player to be name later", or nevin can be a nice replacement for mags. nevin should be back soon.
  12. first he a very good pitcher, that is one of the reason why he will bring in talent. next is the fact that he wants to play in stl. i am tried of hearing this bs about stl and all that. if he doesn't want to play in chi (by his talk of stl and all that) let get more from him at this time instead of waiting for him to walk. next who is going to say that mulder, zito would want to pitch in chi, a peavy, phillips, perez will be 3 aces. but this is all my wish and not a rumor or anything.
  13. great i was hoping that they would overpay.

    Went over to wsi.......

great post, you beat me to it.
  16. good points on both esp the second one.
  17. sorry, i can see your point, but i still consider them a prospect and that is where the difference is.
  18. phillips, peavy and perez can help and pitch now. let alone several other younger pitchers they have up and coming. in a rotation of young pitching in the minors. sd has 2 or the top starting 3 pitcher with another one makeing the top 5.
  19. do you know who their pitching prospect are?
  20. trade mags and botch to sd for phillips and peavy and nevin. part 1
  21. i would love to trade lee and buerle to sd for a handful of pitching prospects.
  22. Not bad by the Pirates GM. Cubs are in a pretty desperate situation so give them high stakes and hope they call back with a bit lower offer thats still damn good. Damn, hearing that offer, I'd be more then willing to move a few of our guys that could help the Cubs for all those prospects. like garland and i even throw in botchie
