QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) I don't know about this idea, I'm a guy so obviously I'd be worried. I'd never want to rape someone, but what would happen if the girl wanted it, and put that thing in so the guy gets spiked anyways. I know it's highly unlikely, but it still could happen. I'm thinking with foreplay you'd probably notice it *hinthint*. And to be honest, I can't think of any woman who is paranoid enough to stick a ring of burs up her cooter.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:39 PM) I'm shocked, offended and a bit confused by that post. :headshake Yeah, I wasn't sure where to start with that one, so I just let it be. Glad I'm not alone.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) 1 word.....ouch. Eh well, they deserve it. On the other hand, I don't see the point. You're more likely to be raped by a family member, friend, intimate than a stranger--so you'd have to wear this 24-7. But, after the would be rapist goes, uh, flaccid wouldn't it just slip off because of the decrease in size of the penis?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) The Sox pennant in 59 was preceded by a 10 year stretch where the Yanks won the pennant 9 times. The year they didn't make the WS, they still had 103 wins. The years immediately following '59, the Yanks won 5 straight pennants. The Sox finished 2nd a number of times over that stretch, so it was like playoff games. Aha, thank you Cheat.

I just realized that a lot of people who lost people in the flood also probably lost everything else. So, they won't have pictures of loved ones, or any souviners (in the true meaning of the word) of them. How horrible.

Who needs facts when we have fear? Crikey. Of course, this doesn't shock me coming from the same people who believe that ID is a valid, empirical and scientific claim.

Yankees and NFL each donate $1mill in aid.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Yeah, back then when you had the best record in the AL, you went to the WS. There was no ALCS. Really? That's crazy. I always thought we lost in playoff games to the Yankees in the 50s. Learn somehting everyday. I guess we are f***ed then.

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sean (Fort Worth, TX): Jim, how does winning one playoff series in around 50 years make the Angels the best post-season team in the AL? Jim Callis: Well, gee, Sean, we're talking about who's best suited to win this year, not about the past. And if we're talking about the past, the White Sox haven't won a postseason series since when, 1917? So did we win the "go to the world series drawing" in 59?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) No one is that rich out of my friends. Only 1 of my friends (who we all suspect his father to be a drug dealer ) got a new BMW for his 16th. Everyone else, 1993 Camaro, 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII (me), 1995 Grand Prix, 1995 Blazer K5, etc. For $150 I bought a 1986 plymouth reliant powder blue station wagon (got my license in 98) from my Grandma. It was hott.
-
Some parents drove new BMW's and Lexus' to my undergrad school as graduation gifts. For graduation I, on the other hand, got a diploma.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) 2 1/2 tanks a week? Uuum, get a closer job or a smaller car. Ouch... Those do get really good gas mileage, like 30 mpg I think.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) You walked 10 miles to school? 15 miles to work? I got a car for my 16th birthday only because my grandma got a new truck and gave me her old one. I have to pay all insurance and all gas. My parents, although certainly able to afford a car for me, have not paid a dime towards anything for it. Don't forget Cheat is an avid cyclist.
-
Sure you should, if you can afford to pay the gas, insurance and car note.

QUOTE(bmags @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) i haven't said this artist sucks, i actually gave legitimate points...which is why i was suprised he was more mad at me then the people who actually said dave matthews sucks exclusively...and the point about him appealing to frat boys and high school girls is undoubtedly true...just go to a concert/visit a frat/high school girls (they'll be in the same place)... And i have listened to his stuff and countered it...so really there is no reason to get upset about what i've been typing...unless you are a dave matthews fan and there are other reasons why they'd be upset about that in the first place I don't think anyone was "mad" about your opinion. I do think, though, that you could have been more respectful of other people's opinions instead of, I used to like DMB, but then I matured. I guess, when I post I try to read it and think about if someone was taking that tone to one of my posts. That generally keeps me close to inline (although, I will sometimes lose that perspective, usually with just one poster, but usuallly. . .). And for the record, the hugest DMB fan I have ever met is my advisor who holds a PhD, taught/researched at MIT, consults on a pretty prestigious journal in the field and has a very impressive CV for someone her age. There's no point in generalizing about people's fan bases.

QUOTE(bmags @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) politiking is all arguments...and i don't know why we all would have to go into the official dave matthews thread to just praise him...if its official it would have all sorts of info on him, like how he succombed to the pressure of his record company to reach a greater demographic aka sell his soul to sell more records...he basically steals everything even the story of the crossroads except much more suburban. I don't understand why someone can voice his opinion on a person in a good light, and i can't equally express my opinion on that person in a nother light...thats ridiculous. I haven't called hi8is bad at guitar, a sellout who can't make a good studio record anymore...i called dave matthews this, in the official dave matthews thread...so whats the problem? But what's the point of arguing if you refuse to even listen to the other side's debate and point? There's a difference in debating the merits of certain artists and saying this artist sucks and the only people who like them are drunk frat boys. One is constructive the other is pointless and can get rude and degrading. There's a big difference. And, personally, I don't like DMB either, but it's a matter of personal taste and I'm certainly not going to act like I'm some musically superior person because I don't like them. That's sort of my point.

We won at trivia again! And we got lead all but one round so we got to pick all the drink specials. I

You know what I don't understand? Why you would go into a thread to s*** all over something someone likes. I don't go into NASCAR, college football, or similiar threads to belittle other people's pleasures. I am baffled by this aspect of the SLAP forum.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) He's still invited to your kitchen at anytime right Soxy (at Ross Gload's expense of course). Of course. Heck, I'd bring him breakfast in bed (in the guest room, of course).

Brandon-- I love you. Soxy

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) Brandon McCarthy will get his first major league win tonight and the Sox are going to rip off a nice winning streak. You heard it here first I'll have what he's having.
