I'm afraid I was being facetious--I absolutely can't stand Nora Jones (and, yes, I have heard both of her cd's, so it's an informed dislike), and she ranks right up there with Jazz Flute on music that I will immediately turn off. She has taken all the principles of jazz and made them predictable and boring.

I'm afraid PA already named the best sleep inducing cd/singer: Nora Jones :sleep --the woman's a dang cure for insomnia. :sleep

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.

Mmmm, maybe after a few weeks and some nice dinners. I think it's too early to tell for today's game though.

Um, I really like it--lots of sociological insights into the Bible and really looks at violence and why we feel like we need it and why we feel like violence protects and saves. It's good solid theology, and really made me think about all the ways violence is engrained in my life and my thought process.

GAAAAAAAAAH, shhhhhhhhhh. Owwww, raw nerve. And after my chapel talk the pastor was telling me the same thing. It's a very, very, very tempting thought. But, um, I'm not cut out for the ministry (what with my heretical Buddhist tendencies and all...), although I enjoy learning the history, theology and ethics behind the bible, I, um, don't think it would work. Although I would probably enjoy it as much as my planned graduate work. And being near my Sox would certainly be a plus.

Grrrr, that's my boy! They best watch out--or I'LL be heading down to TB...

Assigned reading for the Day: The Powers that Be by Walter Wink, ethicist, see chapter 2, but the whole book couldn't really hurt...

I took badminton for one of my PE credits here at college--and there was an autistic boy in my class. So, whenever we would play mixed doubles people would start arguing about who had to be Robert's partner. I felt bad for him, and wasn't that concerned with winning (it was friggin' PE), so I would always ask him to be my partner. But, he had the awful problem of swinging (and you don't swing in Badminton) at everything even when on my side. I got hit in the face with a racket sooooooooo many times. The first time was kind of funny--but after that not so much, after I would get hit I would always try and tell him it's in the wrist not the shoulder (if only for my nose's sake...)...

It was in the Trib too.

Left off the most obvious one: You're not--your significant other finds the idea of marriage oppressive and demeaning (as he/she tells you to take out the trash).

It is quite nice. I am very glad that I chose to come here--sometimes it's a bit stifling, but they give us pretty free reign to speak our mind and the Pastor here is very kind and respectful. And the campus is GORGEOUS (and all the norwegian blondes are too...).

Lol thanks, the Pastor even said it right! So, two huge thumbs up for that. And thanks for having a listen...

I don't like public speaking, but it's a cause I'm way passionate about, so I thought I'd have a go at it. You can tell I'm freaking out at the start, but meh. Thanks for listening--it's definitely a message that needs to be heard. ===>For DBAHO

Yeah, it's pretty cool, I am trying to find the one I did my sophomore year too. But it's kinda cool, 15 minutes long, song, and me talking. Pretty cool, if I may say so. And I was super pleased with how the talk went--although I fell out of my heel in the middle.

Okay, so this is less than thrilling, but I spoke in my school's daily chapel today. If you all want to listen--here's the website: http://www.stolaf.edu/church/chapel/ Click on April 15, 2004. Um, that's all--just in case anyone's REALLY bored at work. And I'm open to any debate on the topic (which is, in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month: loving our neighbors and forgiveness as it pertains to issues of intimate violence).

GAH! Oh no! As if it wasn't bad enough they put those sin dispensing machines on our God fearing campus LAST week--now this! Whatever is this world coming to...

I agree with your statement, but I also agree with Brando... The main problem I had with the Passion (and yes, I realize it was a film about, The Passion) was that it divorced the overarching message of love, inclusion and radical challenging of authority that defined the ministry of Jesus. I think that it is those reasons that Jesus should have respect--like Brando said, thousands of Jews and others (I think others, but mostly Jews) were crucified--heck, Pilate himself crucified thousands. After one insurrection they crucified 2,000. The crucifixion itself does not set Jesus apart, but the reasons why he was crucified: mainly that he challenged the oppressive nature of society, fought for inclusion of all (enemies, sinners, the ritually unclean) and he preached love in a time of hateful occupation of the Holy Land. Um, that's all.

"Where is my Mind" Yep, that's definitely the song that made the movie and pulled it all together--and my favorite song to turn up, roll the windows down, and drive down a highway to.
