QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) Did anyone actually THINK Rowand was going to win a gold glove this season? I guess a lot of people did although I think more people are mad Hunter won it. Either way were WS champs so f*** everything else.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) There's a pretty good chance we won't have any players win individual post season awards. I think that makes a pretty big statement about our team that we will have no Silver Sluggers, no Gold Glovers, no MVP, no Cy Young etc. I wonder how common this is with WS champions. Add in the fact that the World Series Champs didn't have a .300 hitter in the regular season too.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) We should bring back Herbert Perry just for the sake of having the milkman back.... He was the man... last I saw him was as a ranger. How about if Paulie doesn't come back we bring back NORTON!! f*** that bring all of them back, Chris Snopek, Mike Caruso (looks out for Kalapse) and Lyle Mouton!

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) If anyone is having trouble downloading or viewing, PM me. I have it on my hard drive. I'll happily send it to you. Well all you have to do is let the video download first (it downloads to your temp files.) Then just go to file and save as in media player. It worked for me. By the way, thanks robin. -
so, does anybody have that intro video now
Whitewashed in '05 replied to BabyJesus69's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't know if there is any way to save the video. I am gonna try some other ways. I tried logging in through their ftp. Some sites have their ftp available for anonymous users but you need a usr name and password. -
Konerko defends Sox, looks ahead
Whitewashed in '05 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Konerko will definitley do what is best for him. He will not give us much of a hometown discount as I think he feels like he was going to if they would've locked him up earlier in the year. It's funny how I remember there was an article about him wanting to resign and that he wasn't a "break the bank" type ball player and he was confident that he would be back. Anyone remember that article? We need PK back and the sox should give him fair market value, but nothing outrageous. They might have to overpay a little but if thats what they have to do then do it. Although if he starts asking for too much I don't have a problem with letting him go. Afterall, you don't want to regret giving him a huge contract with no payroll flexibility. Just think about it this way, had Maggs resigned, we probably wouldn't have AJ and Tad. -
I REALLY REALLY wish I could go, but I have school. I would take off but I am having trouble in my math class in which I have a quiz tomorrow and I cannot afford to miss. Like most of us I have followed the White Sox every single day of the season and to miss this is very bad. Only to add to this, I know a few people that are actually OFF from school tomorrow. Lucky bastards f***!

This wasn't a play but something that could have hurt us in the beginning of the season: Buehrle turned out to be ok after a predicted broken foot. Imagine what that could have done to him and this team. He was damn good this year and without him I don't know where the sox would be. --f*** Balta beat me to it.--

This year is definitley dedicated to Frank Thomas. I cannot see you in any other uniform and I expect to see you next season in our uniform on your way to 500 homers. Frank Thomas...YES!

I watched the game with my cousin and as soon as the umpire gave the sign of the out I just looked at my cousin with my eyes wide open and gave him a huge hug. I wish I could have screamed my ass off but people have to work so I was only able to scream under my breath. I can't believe it, the Chicago White Sox are the 2005 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!

QUOTE(bulokis @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) I cant believe this we are one more win away! Good job by KW to get Blum who would have thought that he will come up big for us! Who the hell do you expect to win a game for us by homerun? Pods or Blum, HOLY s***!!! -

Whitewashed in '05 replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I had a bad bad feeling about this game even after we got ahead just because they were at home and because of Jenks' problems closing. This was a terrible f***ing game. That was probably the most stressful game I have ever seen. I cannot believe Blum hit a homer. It's 1:00 am and im yelling "HOLY s***!!!!" Enough of my crying, I CANT BELIEVE WE WON!!!!! 1 MORE!!!!!!!!!!! 1 MORE!!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!! -
QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) We need Ben Davis for that. I forgot about that guy... Thats a million off the books there!!

Haha...these threads are pretty funny. -
If Clemens starts I say we bunt our way on base!!! Ok really, if he does start they need to keep him working again and get his ass tired that way we can see Wandy for the 2nd time and hopefully kick his ass.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) When I first read this, I thought "What the Hell is he talking about...Bobby pitching against the Angels?" Man, seems like that must have happened a long time ago. Anywho...I think one thing worth remembering right now is that we still have a major weapon in Clifford who has been totally unused. Bobby can get the 9th tomorrow. But if we need a weapon in the 8th...well, that's why we have both Neal and Cliffy. Haha, sorry I should have noted that happened in the regular season.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) I want to see him in game 3 if it's close. After an off day, definately. Just not in the 8th inning. Give it to Clifford to get to the 9th...he was basically the best right handed setup man in the league this year. And I don't care how many times you see a 99 mile per hour fastball. That doesn't turn it into anything other than a 99 mile per hour fastball. Especially if he tosses in the occasional hook. You know, it's kind of funny...like in September, people were here were writing that Bobby was throwing the hook too much, now they're saying he's not throwing it enough. There's just never a balance with this kid. As good as Cliffs numbers are I don't trust him like I do Cotts. Theres been many times where Cliffy has gotten his ass saved by our defense. Uribe, Rowand hell didn't Pods or Everett rob someone of a hr when he was pitching?? I am not sure about that one but he has got his ass saved a number of times.

If theres a save situation I believe ozzie when he said he will be back in there. He just needs to throw that curve more. That curve vs the Angels where he struck out Vlad was completely untouchable. I think he went 2 innings that game and struck out like 4 or 5. Even if his curve isn't at it's best just by locating it as a strike and showing it to the batters he will unhittable.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 07:55 PM) He gave up a 3-run homer after Gooch f***ed up a routine play. None of those 3 runs were earned, and he still finished the game. His two blown saves came in back-to-back games against the Indians. He gave up an 0-2, 2out single to Bret Boone to knock in 2 guys that Damaso let on. The next night featured a flyball that should have been caught by Rowand but ended up as a double. Only one of those games that Bobby blew the Sox ended up losing, and that game was more Marte's fault. Very true, had that ball to Rowand been caught he would have probably been out of it but I don't remember how many outs there were when that happened. I feel the same about the Marte game. Marte f***ing set Jenks up for failure, he allowed a damn single and a blown save was charged to him.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) It's also worth considering that Bobby is at the end of a long season 1 year off of major arm surgery, and I doubt he's had many 15 day breaks in his career to deal with in terms of staying fresh. I think we could all agree that Jenks has by far the best "Stuff" in our bullpen. I think we can also agree that with a decent bullpen outside of the playoffs, save opportunities that last more than 1 inning are fairly rare. I think we can also agree that guys having to come in 3-4 days in a row to close out games is also fairly rare - out here in LA, I saw K-Rod break down a couple of times doing the same thing. Bobby needs time to settle into the role and grow up as a big league pitcher - getting used to when to throw the curve ball/changeup, learning how to climb the ladder with that fastball with 2 strikes in order to make batters grab some bench, and so on. I know we don't have time now, but we got past his problems last night, and I think he'll come back even better on Tuesday/Wednesday if we need him. I doubt he'll put together a Gagne-like streak, but there's no reason he can't be as good as Billy Wagner, if not better, once he learns a few more th ings about how to retire major league hitters. There are a lot of things that could have led to him blowing it. The cold weather, the world series jitters (yes even in his 2nd game), his inexperience with major league hitters, the surgery. This guy used to be a starter and I believe he will be ok he just needs to throw that curve. I think Ozzie's reaction after Pods' walkoff towards Jenks is a huge key. If I were Bobby I would put that game behind me and Ozzie's words would have just encouraged big time. Good job by Ozzie big time.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) welcome to soxtalk! yes it has been quite a dream come true. never in a million years did I expect this to happen. It's pretty sad the expectations we have given our sox. Then again, can people blame us? Anyway, Welcome to Soxtalk!

I am calling it BS. There's no way he leaves if we win it all. He is gonna own Chicago and can become more of a legend in Venezuela if he keeps on going. I don't know I just think it's bs. I really don't think he will leave Chicago, he loves the organization and can continue to be a leader of Venezuela if he can help us get to the postseason repeatedly. Not only that but I really think the players will convince him to stay if he really does have thoughts of leaving.
