ST: 3/8 vs Rockies
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) Do we really want Dayan playing a bench role though? It wouldn't hurt having him get regular reps in the field down in Charlotte I think he takes Juan's spot next year or Carlos' this year when he inevitably hurts himself.

QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 12:02 AM) No fourth straight 20/20 for Love Oh well, I guess 23 and 17 is alright. Bum. I still have a hard time figuring him out though. Like I really don't know where he rates among the best in the NBA. The Wolves power forward is Beasley who doesn't give two s***s about rebounding. I mean I know he is a very good player, but is he top 10, 15, 20???

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) That's the beauty of the Bulls, they can just be horrendous on offense and still win games because their defense is so damn good. Just keep winning and at least get the 2 seed! Two seed is HUGE. Means home court against the Heat in Round 2. And no Knicks in the first round. I think that is just as important as the home court. Knicks in the first round will probably not beat the Heat, but they can take the Heat to six games and really drain them physically. Meanwhile, the Bulls should be able to beat the 76ers in four or five, and have plenty of rest before that Round 2 series. Jeez, just realized the Knicks are only one game ahead of Philly. The better pick it up for my ideal scenario to happen. Or Philly to tank.

Thornton Signs Extension
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) I feel like he may have been able to get more in free agency. I think he likes it here and took a mutually beneficial deal at a small discount to stay. Glad to have him. As arguably the best left-handed relievers in baseball, he would have gotten $10 million a year.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 03:06 AM) it is just so hard to speculate on NBA future right now because of the next CBA. There's a strong possibility that the owners make it next to impossible for superstars to leave. Then you will have major anti-trust violations. It may be where players have to stay and extra year or two, but making it next to impossible for players to leave is a clear violation of anti-trust laws and will not be allowed by the NBAPA.

Toews is the best player in the NHL right now. Truth. Look at the points. Look at the plus/minus. Look at the defense. Look at the leadership. With no Crosby, right now no one is playing better.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 04:11 PM) FWIW, Boers & Bernstein said, and they have good NBA sources, that it's not a given Dwight is going to LA, there's a chance, and people within the Bulls org feel this way, that he will go to Chicago. Again, there's a ton of steps left and who knows what the new CBA is going to look like. Possibly why the Bulls didn't want to unload Noah, Asik, Taj in any trades for Melo, Lee, etc. If Dwight won't resign with Orlando, you would have to figure a trade centered around Noah would be pretty enticing for Orlando and possibly as good a player back they could get. Noah Taj All the first-round picks possible for Dwight.

Jake Peavy Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 04:01 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Aq1k...ywhitesox030411 Passan writes a pretty good article on Peavy's start today and his recovery. There actually has been a pitcher with an injury like Peavy's - Brent Leach. He recovered to full velocity afterward. So that's a good precedent. Eh, I feel that is pretty much apples to oranges. But his velocity was pretty strong yesterday, so that is encouraging.

@pedrogomezESPN Pedro Gomez That would be insane if he starts the first week of the season. I still would rather Peavy miss a couple weeks in April so that he is 100%. No point in rushing him to make two extra starts.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) Sharks sign Niemi to 4 year, $15.2 mil deal. He was never gonna get a deal like that from the Hawks. Good for him. He has been on fire recently. Somehow I don't think the Hawks are shedding a tear over not having Niemi.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) Stan on the SCORE this morning and I thought I heard him say the new D man was going to help on the penalty kill...I was only half listening though I am guessing he will because they don't want Campbell on the kill as much, but the new guy's scouting report and history incident he really shouldn't be a penalty killer. But hopefully, he can help out.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) ASSETS: Is extremely mobile and very polished when in possession of the puck. Can make up for his mistakes with his speed. Has some offensive ability. FLAWS: Needs to work on his defensive-zone coverage, which is spotty at best. Struggles when he has to lay on the body, and can get manhandled in front of his own net. CAREER POTENTIAL: Mobile defenseman with consistency issues. We don't need a puckmoving defenseman, we need a penalty killer who brings toughness. This guy seems the exact opposite. We better be getting something else.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) Hawks supposedly after this f***, Ladislav Smid. 1st rounder in 2004, 24, pretty s***ty player judging by the statistics. Career -42, hopefully scouts see something we can use in him if we do indeed go that route. It will be ole change-of-scenery cliche. I wonder how often that actually works.

Hendry also severely injured his knee yesterday, according to Jesse Rogers on ESPN Radio. Not good. Very little depth for the Hawks on the blue line now. Wonder if Scott will get any time there now (hope not though).

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Feb 26, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) $47 mil tied up in 9 players. Yeah I have no idea how we are going to fill out this roster for the next few years. We have three guys make max money that all have serious issues. Campbell is strong player, but clearly not good enough on either O or D for that type of money. Hossa is injury prone and has been only ok this year, and Kane couldn't play defense if he was offered free booze and two girls. Toews and Keith are the only ones truly deserving of a max deal.
