Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) Announcers made a great point, every Illini player didn't seem to want to make a play. It's typical for a Weber coached team under the Illini. If I was an Illini fan, I'd be absolutely furious with how poorly he coached since 2006. Fixed.

Close game and Illinois bout to lose again. What a surprise. As an Illinois fan, it is clearly time for Bruce to be shown the door. Dude just can't motivate, coach whatever it is, but he just doesn't win.

BPro Top 11 - Kevin Goldstein
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 25, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) Escobar over Dayan and Mitchell, eh? Very interesting. I was listening to their podcast and Goldstein said he takes position scarcity strongly into effect so that's why. I don't get it. I don't think he is anything but a .260., ML slap hitter with a great glove. Those guys are more prevalent than a 40-plus HR, .300 BA guy like Viciedo. Do analysts realize that he is still ONLY 21 years old?

Bears versus Packers game thread
QUOTE (Cali @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) So these players are WATCHING the game AT HOME on their f***ing couch and are talking s*** about a player in the CHAMPIONSHIP game? That takes some balls... I agree. I'll be curious what happens if the injury is serious. If it's not serious, then all the bashing is rightfully deserved. But it would be funny to hear these players talk if Cutler tore something.

Bears versus Packers game thread
I hope Cutler tore something because guys making $7 million playing to go to the Super Bowl should not come out because of pain. If he tore it, I will understand, but if it just hurt too much that is ridiculous. Most likely he tore the labia of his vagina.

Sullinger is a man possessed. Tisdale and Davis had no shot and kept fouling. Those two annoy the hell out of me. They absolutely suck against any post player with strength. Another close game, another game lost. Weber should be fired.

Mark Buehrle talks about the future after 2011
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 12:54 AM) I'd give him 2 yrs/$16M. I doubt he really is playing for the money anyway. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 22, 2011 -> 07:01 AM) 2/$18 or so would be fine by me. Yeah, any of those would work. But really, based on pure production, he is probably not worth than much. But I would love Mark to get 200 wins in a Sox uniform. Only 52 wins away and if he signed a 2-year extension, I highly doubt that would guarantee 200. Although our offense is really good this year and same will the bullpen so maybe he'll get a few more Ws

Double "Suns" in 2012?

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) Too big, too strong, too fast, too good. He's awesome. And only one turnover. Great great game. Korver with a terrific game, too. And Deng continues to make people eat their words about his salary. He is a great offensive player and very very good on D. Rudy Gay just got owned.

Sox "On the Same Page" at Camp Cora
It seems that it is a foregone conclusion that Morel is your 3B this year. So what do you do with Tank? I think he needs to move to LF and prepare to take over for Pierre after this year. Clearly not going to play 1B or DH. Seems too weak defensively to be at 3B, but that bat is valuable.

Modern Family has been awesome the past two weeks. Simply terrific TV. It was kind of struggling a few episodes back, but the last two were pure comic genius.

Rafael Soriano signs with Yankees
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 14, 2011 -> 01:51 AM) All I know, and I'm drunk, is that if we signed Soriano to that....wow.. f***ing horrible. They can have him for that price. Quite the coherent drunk post. I expected much worse from you Heads. Although this is a Thursday drunk, not a Saturday drunk.

Rafael Soriano signs with Yankees
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) They didn't really need this. No team really needs a 12 million dollar a year set-up man. And the Yankees lose their first round pick as well. Even Yankee fans hate the signing. http://forums.nyyfans.com/showthread.php/1...-Rafael-Soriano And if I'm correct, the Rays now have 9 picks between the first, compensation and second rounds. And once Balfour and Qualls sign that will make it 11. And this is supposed to be the strongest draft in years. The Rays will indeed be feasting come June. Yeah, but they will probably take a handful of easy signs because there is no way they can afford $30 million in the draft. That's simply ridiculous though.

Play-by-Play
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 08:01 AM) The NBA has some really, really good pairings, the Van Gundy/Jackson/Breen trio really does a good job with games. IMO, JVG is the best color commentator in sports right now. No one brings so much much to the table. Experience. Goofiness. Honestly. Wacky ideas. Everything, he is by far my favorite.

2010-2011 NHL thread
QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) You stay classy Ben Eager... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DAf2DvLUDk Sadly that's what the Hawks are missing though this year. Not a cheap-shot artist, but someone who is not afraid to mix it up and brings that toughness. John Scott is just too awful as a player to be a worth a damn.

Minnesota just got fouled going for a 3-pointer against Ohio State to tie the game. No call. It was a horrible play call though. But Ohio State's defender didn't get any ball, it was all wrist. Should have been a foul and Minny should have shot three to tie.

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) Sox sign Josh Kinney to a minor league deal. Good signing. Had a couple good years with the Cardinals and was really good in the minor last year (1.80 ERA). Maybe catch lightning in a bottle.

Who dat?? In all serious, the Bears are better than the Seahawks, but Hasselback will pick apart the Cover-2, so if the Bears do end up playing them, Cutler better be ready to put some points on the board.

Two things on third down play. Why didn't Brees just run for the first down? And two, Reggie Bush continues to suck -- and I couldn't be happier.

White Sox sign Will Ohman to 2 year deal worth $4mil
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) AJ and Beckham are guaranteed to be better this season just as PK is guaranteed to regress, I'm 100 percent positive on all 3 of those. Yes, we have question marks just like every other team and just like we did going into 05 but we also have 0 holes on this team which really hasn't been the case in a few years now. As I said earlier in the thread, I'll put our roster up against anyones minus the Phils and BoSox. Completely agree. Rotation is great, could be terrific at full health. Bullpen is solid. Offense is solid. Infield defense is top-notch. Outfield defense is solid. No holes whatsoever. Complete everywhere. May not be top 5 in starter's ERA, runs, bullpen ERA, total defense, but we are pretty darn close in all facets.

White Sox sign Will Ohman to 2 year deal worth $4mil
Great signing if Ozzie doesn't f*** up using Ohman. He should be pitching to Hafner, Mauer, Morneau, Kubel, Sizemore, etc. not Cuddyer, Billy Butler, Cabrera.

Inaugural Soxtalk Winter Meetings & Drinkathon
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 10:13 AM) Yeah, I had a good time. It was crowded as hell at first, but then it completely cleared out. How long did you guys stick around? I left like a minute after you. That's right I am one minute better (cue inside joke)
