  1. If we got Wood (ha), we would have to be considered along with the other Sox the favorites no? Yankees have no rotation. And Rangers lost Lee.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) A few years ago, there were rumors of Todd Walker going to play for the Sox. He said something about how he could never switch teams within the city of Chicago, and Wood was the first person to say that Walker was dead on for saying that. I would be shocked to see Wood agree to play for the Sox. Hopefully Kerry would rather go for a World Series than stand behind some pointless jibber jabber. He is at the point of his career where he's got a couple years left, why not go to a place you are comfortable in and have a great chance to win?
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) Jesus, Wood still has electric stuff. I used to watch the end of Cubs games just to watch him and Marmol go to work. This would give us an incredible amount of flexibility at the end of games. Bring him home, KW. I would ask where he's gonna get the money from, but have already been proven wrong on that question.
  4. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) Somebody give me some more confirmation It's Gammons. He is good as it gets.
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) So as I type this Noah is on the court playing well, but after the game will be out 10 weeks with thumb surgery. WTF. Yeah. WTF? http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...ight-thumb.html He had a double double tonight with the injury, just let him play with it and take care of it in the off-season if it can't get worse. Cortisone that finger dammit.
  6. Red Sox have been after him. Are we positive he didn't misread hear? EDIT: Saw Cowley tweet that Crain and Sox were brewing, so probably fact. Not sure how to react. He had a great year last year, but has been pretty inconsistent and throws a very straight fastball.
  7. John Clayton was on ESPN Radio 1000, says U. of Minnesota is very much in doubt now due to many issues. Possible venues: Indy, Detroit and St. Louis.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) Confirmed Jeez. At $4 million per year. Putz's contract looks better and better.
  9. Everything I complained about in my post on the the website, they fixed. Guess they read my comment.
  10. Well, we once had Guerrier. Wonder what his relationship is with the Sox after he was traded that one time.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 10:50 AM) Echoing some of the others...I think the writing lacked this season. Glad Julia Stiles is gone. A decent season, but it could have been better. Now today, it comes out that Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are divorcing. Not sure what the contract situation is with them, but hopefully they do one more great season, and get out on top. Ah s***. That is really gonna mess stuff up.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 10:55 AM) If I'm the White Sox and the Yankees want a pitcher from me, I'm making them take my salary. I also want Joba Chamberlain and Brett Gardner. My thoughts are a Floyd + Teahen or Pierre for the two of them. Someone call tell me it is or isn't fair, but that is what I would, at a minimum, ask for. I'd also trade Edwin for Joba/Gardner. Note: I'm not saying the Yanks do this, but s***, if they feel they have a gun to there head, why not try. yeah they are feeling pretty s***ty now, so the Sox could get over-market value for a pitcher because of the Yankees' desperation. Floyd in New York, however, would be a disaster, IMO. I am not sure how he would handle NY pressure. But I would love Gardner, he is Juan Pierre x 100.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 06:20 AM) I enjoyed it last night. Maybe it is because I could relate to it lately but thought it was solid. This season has been up and down but tons better than last season. If Zooey is the mother, people will be pissed and they are probably the same people who want to know who the mother is already. How else should they introduce get? In the series finale? I am not upset about not finding out the wife, I am upset that the humor, in my opinion, is just not there.
  14. How I Met Your Mother is just awful now. There is literally nothing funny going on in the show anymore except for a couple of funny Barney moments.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 06:12 PM) Langford is a rare exception since he reached out to Weber initially (rather than vice versa), but Illinois should never look out of state unless it's eastern Missouri or Indiana. There's just no reason to. I think you have to keep your main recruiting base in Illinois, but building new ties to new places can never hurt. You gotta aim to get the best talent you can even if that means going out of state. That 2005 team had its main base from Illinois but solid non-Illinois players in Deron, Jack Ingram (though he transferred) and Nick Smith. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) Corrected for accuracy. And I'm an alum. Instate guys should always be the priority in such a talent-rich state, but going outside occasionally is good too. Exactly. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 03:09 AM) I could understand why one wouldn't want to recruit outside of the state, but what does it matter if you're not getting the elite guys. Ya, there are a hell of a lot of great players coming out of Illinois, obviously the Chicago area, but if the top guy is consistently choosing schools other than Illinois, you have to expand your search. They've built a great core but it's a blow when you miss out on guys like Anthony Davis, Derrick Rose, Shannon Brown. The only "real" miss on those was Shannon of those guys. Good kid from a school that just gave Illinois Dee Brown. Rose's shady recruiting and eligibility issues were a huge issue with him and Illinois. He was just never going to give Weber and Co. a legit chance, especially with his brother running point wanting all kids of s*** for a commitment. Davis is also a suspicious story. Truly whenever anyone commits to Kentucky I get curious. The big misses were Julian Wright, Jon Scheyer and Shannon over Weber's time. All three smart kids from non-CPS schools whose recruitment were legit.

Kinda disappointed with the ending. It's like everyone gets a fresh start now, and I don't like that.
  17. Tom Brady is by far the best player in football. No names and he is amazing.
  18. Don't let Dave Rayner attempt to tie this game, just score Detroit. BTW, once Stafford is healthy and Detroit gets one more draft and free agency class, they are going to be scary. Talent-wise you could argue they have the most talented offensive player in the game (Calvin) and defensive player (Suh).
  19. It's unfortunate. Mark is a $8 million player making $14 million. But even if he is overpaid, he has earned all his money being the face of the franchise, never missing starts, being a great role model/human being, leading us to a WS and throwing a perfect game. So I am not too bothered that he makes more than he his true on-the-field baseball worth.
  20. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) Apparently, that's what got him to committ to Illinois was the fact that he was promised PT. Apparently he was torn between Maryland and Illinois and Weber and Howard assured him of playing time if not a starter's role from everything I've heard. I highly doubt Weber promised playing time. He might have said Langford would have a great chance to come in and compete for early PT, but I guarantee he did not promise early PT. Not his MO. BTW, I have seen that quote you probably are referring to from Langford's coach in regard to the PT, but I have to assume the coach misunderstood Weber, so I am not bashing you.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) "A source close to the pitcher says Wood will not be signing with the Sox" I give it 10 minutes before Cowley has that up on his Twitter.
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) Merkin didn't exactly write that they are encouraged by ticket sales. Here's what he said: Hopes dashed.
  23. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Merkin just tweeted that Kenny is really excited by the ticket sales so far (after the Dunn and Paulie signings) and if it keeps on going this way it may free up enough cash to again explore the FA market. FWIW! Very good news.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) If Paul has a good Big 10 season or strong postseason, look for him to try and test the draft waters. He has that type of talent, but is still so raw. That would be an awful decision. I think he has an NBA future, but after junior or senior year, he still has so much refining to do. Illinois is gonna be very weak in the paint next year with Leonard/Griffey as the main two with Shaw and Egwu seeing what they can do. Makes me think J-Rich will get some minutes as a point forward at the 4.
  25. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) Yeah, but they're literally too deep in the backcourt. Next year: Abrams, Langford, Paul, Richardson, Head, Bertrand, and Henry/Richmond at the guard spots. Good look cracking that rotation. Langford won't play much as a freshman, IMO. Bertrand isn't that good. Paul/Richardson/Richmond are the starters 1-3. And then there minutes to be won. Abrams/Henry are still freshman, so Crandall will have an edge on them assuming his head is on straight. That's the only way I see him leaving is because of academic issues.
