  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) If they're deferring cash til next year, it means that Buehrle may be going bye-bye after this season. I am not so sure. There is no way he or any other team thinks he is worth $14 million after this year (let alone this). If he wants to play some more baseball, I could see him re-signing with the Sox for like two years at $14 million. Obviously, he is only would play here or St. Louis. But if Paulie is back and the Sox do well next year, I wouldn't shut the door on Mark. As well, the guy would be willing to sign on the discount as he is not a guy about the money. BTW, any Asian relievers out there from the Japanese leagues? You can usually get get one to two good years out of a solid pitcher there.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) Where is the "the White Sox kicked tires on A-Gon before signing Dunn" article? Dunn was KW's #1 target from the get go. Don't forget he kicked the tires on Eddie Murray, too, to see if he was interested in coming out of retirement.

    QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) If I applied for a job and was never contacted for an interview, and the job has been reposted since they didnt hire anyone from the first round of applications, is it in bad taste to apply AGAIN, maybe with an updated cover letter and resume? Not at all. What's the worst that happens?
  4. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) if you dont need video, 670thescore.com F. Thanks!
  5. And Comcast's online feeds fails.
  6. A Major Leauge source said the #Braves will receive $1.5 million from the White Sox to help account for Linebrink's $5.5 mil. salary. According to @mlbbowman
  7. I am officially on the bring back D.J. bandwagon. Who will join me?
  8. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Santos is in there somewhere. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 12:35 PM) Santos for sure and I'd say there's about a 95 percent shot that Sale is going to be in there as well. Yeah major brain fart on Santos. I intentionally excluded Sale.
  9. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Link wasn't that bad, he had a great season in 2008. In the minors...
  10. I'll be curious as to what our bullpen situation looks like this year. Right now, we have: Closer - Thornton Set-Up - ?? MR - ?? MR - ?? MR- ?? LR - ?? D.J. Carrasco was non-tendered yesterday. Bring him back?
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) I imagine Kyle Coefield could have a Jon Link/Jeff Marquez- like impact on this team. And i love it. So no impact?
  12. Bruce Levine just said breaking news from his source that the deal was made. Levine seriously thinks he just broke this news.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 10:46 AM) Slight upgrade. You guys obviously aren't taking into consideration Kotsay's leadership. He ass-patted with the best of them.
  14. Very sad. Great human being.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 02:35 AM) By ESPNChicago.comKeith Law reacts to the Adam Dunn signing by the Chicago White Sox, saying that they get a huge upgrade at designated hitter, a position where production was severely lacking last season. But the contract likely will cover the 31-year-old's first declining years, making his long-term impact a bit of a question. Keith Law would find the bad in giving a million dollars to the poor.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) I actually like this idea. The likelihood of Paulie doing what he did last year isn't all that high. The likelihood of a bounce-back by Lee is pretty good. I love Paulie, but I second that. You probably save $8 million taking Lee instead of Paulie + you get two draft picks. That money can go to Putz + another RP and even AJ. I wouldn't be surprised if Lee is better than Paulie next year, too.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) You could still sign AJ since we just saved money getting rid of Jenks. You're right. I think the Sox will play like they are willing to go with Flowers for leverage purposes. Once AJ sees the market as terrible, he will probably accept a one-year deal wit the Sox for like $3 million or something.
  18. Dunn + Lee would be awesome. Give Dunn $12 million per year and Lee $5 million + incentives for one year. I would accept losing AJ if we gain both those. With Morel at third, we would have arguably the top defensive infield in baseball.
  19. WE DID!! His name is Alexei Ramirez. Oney just confused signed and option picked up.
  20. When Bobby had a 1.50 WHIP, WTF was Ozzie supposed to do? He was entirely average last year. Look around the league, guys lose their closer's jobs all the time when they don't perform, why does Bobby feel he should have a higher threshold of suckiness? But we have some huge issues now. A very bad bullpen (because we have one legitimate guy in there now) and an offense that looks the swiss the cheese on my sandwich.
  21. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Let's not forget that in this specific scenario, if we sign Dunn, we would also be losing our #1 draft choice to the Nationals next year. We're a little further down in the draft order next year as a result of that "debacle" of winning 88 games this year (sorry, Thunderbolt - couldn't resist!), but our first round drafting in recent years has been pretty good. So although you are correct in terms of talking about a more efficient use of money when comparing Dunn to Konerko one-on-one, you also have to take into consideration the probability and likelihood of missing out on several years of production from a top flight talent as a result of surrendering the draft pick. But we will make up for it with Konerko. Not the same spot, but still two picks nonetheless.
  22. Arguably a top-5 offensive and defensive SS in baseball who is still young. Probably worth on the open market $10 million a year. Look at what Uribe got. Alexei is way better.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) The first 3 were part of a tournament. Wise man. That makes a lot more sense haha. It was too weird to be explained by coincidence.
