Rick Hahn
QUOTE (Y2Jimmy @ Oct 9, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) Yesterday during B&B, Steve Stone said that in his opinion Rick Hahn will be offered the Mets GM job. He stated factors that might keep Hahn from taking it though. (Midwest ties, Mets financial situation with bad contracts and financial situation with the whole Madoff fiasco). Sandy Alderson is an intriguing name. As much as I love Hahn, I think Alderson has a more proven track record. He is basically Rick Hahn with proof as a good GM.

2010 Minor League Catch-All Thread
We had one prospect on the AA list in Morel and he was the last quartile. Wow. Could our system be worse? Granted, I am liking what I have seen from Morel/Viciedo, but man, we have no depth.

White Sox targeting Carl Crawford
The next time the Sox sign a big-time free agent will be the first since Albert Belle. Yeah, we are targeting him, meaning once we realize he wants $7 million more per year and four extra years, we will drop out of the bidding. Just another attempt for the Sox management to convince the fans they are going for it.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) The problem is dropping 100k on an MBA. I have yet to figure out how the f*** to afford something like that. Yeah, it's hard, but the ROI on those things are great. But you don't want to take out loans and be in huge debt afterward.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) The Patriots do blow draft picks and reach on s***ty players just like any other team. That's the NFL Draft. But they hit more than most teams that's for sure.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 01:36 AM) No kidding. Hell they pawned Moss off for a 4th rounder a few years back in the first place. Wouldn't surprise me if they could net a 3rd-4th rounder for him. Their personnel is one of the smartest in the game. With the way salaries are in the NFL, late first, second and third round picks (where you still nab plenty of top-100 talent, and many times, top 50 talent according to team's draft boards) are possibly the most coveted players in the NFL. You get them for four or five years at very low costs and usually are getting NFL-ready talent who can contribute right away. It's no secret that the Pats load up on draft picks every year and keep reloading their roster with fresh, cheap talent. The Bears meanwhile do the opposite and wonder why the roster is so thin at many positions. The Pats may not have Pro Bowls everywhere, but their depth is always second to none and in the NFL, that is huge with injuries.

A friend of mine from childhood/high school made the Sharks 24-man roster in Europe (they are allowed extra players because of the travel). I feel so old and unaccomplished right now. He is frickin playing with Niemi, Thornton and Heatley. Man, it's crazy.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 5, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) Pats are cheap n stupid. Cheap, maybe. Stupid, no. They have been the most successful franchise the past decade. They know what they are doing. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 12:08 AM) i dont know if anything has been said on here yet but the bears need a pass blocking full back or a full back period. And a running back that doesn't run a 4.50. We have probably the least speed from the running back position in the NFL.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 5, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Wow, surprising. I like this new approach. I also like that there's more accountability, but the biggest culprits (JA and Lovie) still somehow have jobs.

Rick Hahn
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 5, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) I will b**** about that trade until 2020. Just terrible. It'd be so nice to have both he AND Sale dirt cheap, waiting to take over. It'd make either one of Danks/Floyd expendable and give us the ability to fill multiple holes on the fly. I saw nothing to suggest in the AL, Hudson would be anything like he was in the NL Worst. In the AL, he is nothing more than a 4.50 ERA guy. Jackson is a better pitcher, IMO. But I will give you that his salary would be a nice thing on the roster, but Hudson pitched in a horrible offensive division with no pressure. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Oct 5, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) I always thought Hahn was more of a legal/financial type. Is there any indication he knows what he's doing with personnel decisions? Hahn is more of that, but he also will take more statistical research into personnel decisions than KW.

Rick Hahn
Well I am pretty sure Rick is waiting for one of a select few jobs: White Sox, Cubs and Cardinals, or even Brewers (because of location). Rick is from here and loves living here. What's more likely to happen is Rick getting a raise than KW moving up since both he and KW are as high as they can go without forcing someone out.

Films Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) Highly recommend Social Network. Casting, acting, and especially the writing, all fantastic. But the real kicker to me, and I think people might miss it, is the cinematography. Its the kind of film where you don't think much about that aspect, but it was just fantastic. You want to see a small example of a really great scene that ties together stellar cinematography, wonderful musical adaptation and putting two diametric emotions (competitive tension and monotony) at play in harmony - watch carefully the boat race scene (I'm not giving anything away here). Its 2 minutes of director awesomeness. I love me some Fincher. Yeah that boat race scene was spectacular.

Ok time for a sack, fumble recovery for a TD. Or more likely a long drive on that Tampa-Two that bends, but doesn't break.
