SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
maggsmaggs replied to Carpe Diem's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 06:18 AM) Why is it far fetched to get Bregman and Springer for Sale. Bregman hasn't proven a thing at the MLB level and Springer isn't an untouchable superstar by any means. Sale is the top LH in the American, only 27, and tremendously underpaid. Those 2 are a starting point in my book. If Sale was on another team, people would be saying the Sox would have to offer Eaton, Anderson, and Rodon for starters. Because in a full season, Springer was worth 4.5 WAR while Bregman was worth 1.0 WAR in 1/3 a season. Extrapolate that out to a full season, and Bregman's already a 3-WAR player. Sale is a 5-6 WAR pitcher. Do the math. -
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 12:05 AM) Forgot about this thread. My Chiefs are off to another great start (7-2) despite the injury bug. Every team deals with the injury bug, it's the NFL. That being said, I have always enjoyed watching the Chiefs and rooted for them in the playoffs. I just do not think that they can win with Smith as their QB. Their defense is not dominant enough to overcome the lack of explosiveness in that offense.

Rumor: Dodgers & Sox discussing Sale & Frazier
maggsmaggs replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Braves would be interesting... Not sure if Swansby would be in play, but Albies, Newcom, Allard and Maitan would be tasty along with a couple other lottery tickets. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) Agree with the first part, not with the second. The great thing is it results in another loss which gets us a top 5 pick (perhaps top 3?) and yet we continue to see some good development out of Howard, Floyd, Whitehair and a few others. It's too bad that, even with how bad we are, the Browns and 49ers are worse and have just as big QB needs as the Bears. I also do not think the Bears are that far away. The front seven is legit. Secondary is a cluster f***, partially due to injuries and partially due to a lack of playmakers. Middle three of the o-line is terrific, but tackles are a huge concern. Obviously, the QB is a big issue, too. WRs and TE group is serviceable. Special teams also sucks. Long story short, they are not far away from being competitive.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 13, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) I'm guessing they let him know that they aren't planning on tendering him but probably won't do it until the deadline to tender/non-tender players. Probably try to move him up until then. Lose pretty much all leverage if they do so.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 07:15 AM) I want to know how repealing tax laws against upper income people is going to reduce the federal deficit. BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO SEE TREMENDOUS GROWTH, GROWTH YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THE GREATEST GROWTH EVER.

In a few months, you will have a Republican White House, Republican legislature and a conservative majority in the Supreme Court.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 05:23 AM) I am so sad right now. All the progress of the last 8 years goes out the window. The LGTB community will no longer be able to wed whom they please, abortions will be illegal again, those who can't afford healthcare and/or have pre-existing conditions will be turned away, any chance at gun legislation is gone. Instead of having democratic control of anything, the behind-the-times Republican Party is set to undo it all. I have no hope for the country right now, and I'm really sad and disappointed about having to raise a daughter here. That, and nothing will be done about global warming in the next four years.

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) Couldn't agree more. It's ridiculous Hahn and KW are allowed to oversee the rebuild after the awful job the tandem has done. It's the sad irony in all of this.
-
As much as I think rebuilding and selling off is the right course of action, it worries me tremendously that the current regime is in charge of identifying the talent to acquire in any potential deal, as they have shown very little ability to make competent moves in the past.

Guy in our league has Andrew Luck. Lost by 0.2 points. Last three plays of the game, Luck kneels for the win, and they count as -1 rushing yards each time, or -0.1 points.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 06:38 PM) This team is going to be very up and down for the first part of the season for sure. The middle of this roster has completely turned over again, and a lot of guys have to learn to play with each other. Especially until the special teams gets figured out, there could be some very ugly nights. This squad as of now is going to have to outscore some people and hope Corey stands on his head. All that matters is getting enough points to get into the playoffs. Anything can happen once you're in. But you're exactly on point, lots of new players figuring out their role and chemistry with one another. Hawks hopefully will hit full stride later in the season.

Chris Getz to take over player development

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 06:38 PM) I don't think it is but I definitely thinks this unfair to criticize a move and it's process, when you don't know the happenings behind the scenes. If you think this is a bad move, please name me someone who you would like instead. This organization has lost the benefit of the doubt. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) Glad I didn't listen to you. Actually, F me. Cuz I played Meredith over Britt. Derp. Are you in a PPR? In non-PPR, Pryor got 19.5 in non-PPR compared to Meredith's 11.3.
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 01:48 AM) So you think I should take Pryor over Meredith? The only reason I picked up Meredith was because on Matthew Berry's fantasy show he said he thought he was worth a stash given how injured Bears WR are and how much Jeffrey is disappearing. I would undoubtedly take Pryor over Meredith.
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Oct 14, 2016 -> 01:55 AM) Man, Pryor just got dropped in my league and I am really tempted to pick him up. Just can't decide if I should drop Enunwa or Coates or Meredith to do it. Ugh, he's so intriguing. Meredith. Don't be blinded by a career game.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 10, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) Yep, we need picks and picks and pick. Keep losing. Only problem is that Cleveland is worse and still needs a QB. So they will likely have the first shot at the best QB.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 10, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) I have the most points in the league I care about and am about to be 2-3. FML. Guy in my league is about to be 0-5 with third most points. Literally plays one of the top two scoring teams each week.
-
QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Sep 23, 2016 -> 06:44 AM) I'm taking a chance and am starting the Miami defense over the Jets and Giants. Thoughts? Played well in first game against Seattle, stunk it up against NE. I think you have to start them against the Browns. Third string QB without top WR. Dolphins can focus on stopping their solid running backs.
-
QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Sep 23, 2016 -> 05:03 AM) The guy I'm facing started the Pats D. Didn't expect a shutout. f*** I have the Pats D and started them, but while they had a shutout, they only put up 15 points. That's not a solid number, but it isn't like when a team has a defensive TD and special teams TD, 5-sack game, etc. Better real-life defensive performance than fantasy.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 22, 2016 -> 06:51 AM) I think your time to trade Spencer Ware has passed. No one in my league would have been any more likely to trade for him after Week 1 than now.
-
I am fairly deep with RBs on my team, but low on WRs although my starters are Evans/Cooks. Just lost Moncrief. Looking to trade Spencer Ware and trying to get a feel on the value I should expect in return. I am hoping for a WR along the lines of Maclin? Too optimistic?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) We have to accept the fact he's one of the better hitters in the game of baseball. Depends on your definition. He is currently 45th in MLB among qualifiers in wOBA. In the first half, he was 120th; in the second half, he is 10th. When it mattered this year, he was terrible. When it did not matter, he has been great.
