QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) So it's the Aug. 15th issue then I assume. I haven't got the issue yet, but I'd guess it'd be this week's issue.- Magazine featuring the Sox
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) I just looked through the Aug. 1st issue, they're not in it. The release date must be wrong. How often is ESPN mag out, bi-weekly? Yes, ESPN is bi-weekly. This is a week a magazine should come. I think magazines usually hit newsstands on Wednesday. I usually get mine in the mail on Friday or Saturday.- Happy Birthday x 3!!!
3(Happy Birthday!)- Waivers
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) One of biggest in recent years was Fred McGriff by Atlanta in the mid-90s. Larry Walker was one last year.- Would you vote Palmeiro into the HoF?
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/quickie- Help SAVE one of the BEST Logo's in sports
Don't know if this thread will last, but I love that old Brewers logo.- Would you vote Palmeiro into the HoF?
It definitely makes you think Palmeiro put up numbers that he probably wasn't capable of producing. And because of that, the little respect I did have for the guy (I didn't like the guy to begin with), was lost today.- Would you vote Palmeiro into the HoF?
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) i actually chose yes, like giambi said earlier in the year, steroids make you stronger but they dont change how you see and hit the ball, you have to hit it before the drugs kick in These guys just say that as an excuse as to steroids not making them better. However, if that's the case, why are these players even taking them?- For those that missed today's game....

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Nice name. :headshake- Richard Roeper...
QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) Any player would go home and complain to their buddies about the fans booing, salary, etc. Frank just happened to do that to the media. I think Frank is probably a great guy, and as a kid I never heard he was a bad guy or anything. He was the Big Hurt, and he had his own Super Nintendo game that I played and the only bad guy on the Sox was Albert Belle. I remember mowing so many lawns to save up for that game. I'm actually thinking of bringing the Super Nintendo (old school, ) down to Bloomington this year, and doing a season with the Sox on that game.- Richard Roeper...
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) On highlight shows, yes. Frank never did interviews and promoted the Sox or himself, though. The media didn't help that either though. They've really loved to highlight the bad with him, and not so much the good.- Richard Roeper...
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) Like it or not, dealing witht the media is part of the profession. It's also another way to connect with the fans. I would have loved to hear Frank interviewed on the Score back in the day (and based on the reaction of this board when a Sox player is on the radio or ESPN, so would most of you). Face it, Frank blew his opportunity to be more than just a player. He culd have been our icon. Ventura was and still is the most popular player from those 90's teams, and it's not because he was a better player. He was better with the media, and a better team player. Robin was popular, but you're wrong with that statement. Where were all the Robin posters and endorsements? - Magazine featuring the Sox
