  1. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) You have to wonder how Blum feels about this... Here he is one of the biggest heros of the game and no one notices... On the radio post game show they said Konerko like 3 times... Can't be good for his confidence... If our team was worried about the media, we would not be 73-39.
  2. I'm hoping that this can be a huge confidence builder for JC. It's got to feel really good for him to do that against his ex-teammates that wanted nothing to do with him. Here's hoping a switch has been turned on.
  3. Pods, LF Ozuna, 2B Everett, DH Konerko, 1B Rowand, CF Dye, RF Blum, 3B Widger, C Uribe, SS Garcia, RHP

  5. QUOTE(mwolfson @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) I WAS AT THE GAME IN THE FIRST ROW BEHIND THE WHITE SOX DUGGOUT AND SAW THE THING HAPPEN AND THEN HEARD OZZIE SAY "CRAZY GUY, CRAZY" (WHILE STARRING AT THE GUY ON THE NET)... IT WAS PRETTY STRANGE! P.S. Paulie threw me a ball and I was the kid wearing the Black Sox shirt and Sox hat... Some friends saw me Ha yep, they showed him on the broadcast after the PK HR.
  6. Jose with a HUGE game! Gooch and Kong!
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) You have to know who that his, he's a f***en legend.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) Left handed power bat. Jason Biggs?
  9. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) MW 8 AM in Wylie 005, I believe. Ah okay...I have it 9:30AM-10:45AM on Tues and Thurs in Ballantine. I have to take Accounting and Econ both semesters, blah.
  10. As much as I think this whole thing's stupid, it's much easier to argue the side that these names are wrong, from what I'm seeing. Here's an excerpt from a column I read this morning...
  11. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Off the top of my head: CLLC-Q 199 Collins Seminar (1) GER-G 305 Introduction to German Literary Themes (3) HPSC-X 100 Science and History of the Occult (3) ECON-E 201 Introduction to Microeconomics (3) ENG-W 270 Argumentative Writing (3) INTL-I 206 Nations, States and Boundaries (3) Fairly easy schedule, next semester I'll be taking the maximum amount of credit hours, which should be a blast. 12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) My head exploded when Crede was just as good as A-Rod. Hawk was f***ing terrible last night. He only said he'd take his defense over A-Rod's. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) That entire team comparison segment was pretty horrible. "As far as talent, Im taking Dye of Sheffield, any day." Oh, Hawkaroo... He said he'd take Dye over Sheff because of age.
  13. Well we all know where I stand with the big man. It's very unfortunate that this is the way his career could possibly end; it shouldn't be like that. However, if there's any chance of him being able to play next season, it's got to be here. I'm starting to feel that this may be the end though. Frank Thomas:
  14. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) This is just great. Kenny injured HIMSELF--not one of his players--and he still doesn't want to disclose the details of the injury. This man TRULY flys under the radar. I heard he tore his biceps on the Silvy and Carmen show. According to the papers, same injury Frank had in 2001.
  15. QUOTE(Benson&Rexage @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) How so? Isnt baseball the sport right now that was brought the steriod contraversy to the front of the news. Get your fact straight douche bag The name-calling's unnecessary. Please refrain from doing it in the future.
  16. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Did you see how he rung up Rowand to end the game? I don't know if that is how he always does it but it seemed a little over the top to me. It was the HR of strikeouts.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) We're not going to lose the division? I never said we would....but unlike many on here, I don't think it's locked up. We have an extremely difficult stretch of games now, while the Indians have an extremely easy stretch. It's naive to think that this race can't get close. There's no guarantees in sports, and we don't have a proven track record like the Braves. To be honest, I won't be actually nervous about it until the lead is under 7.5 games. Hopefully, that won't happen for the rest of the season. But please, will people stop getting pissed off at me because I'm not ready to say we have clinched the division? I don't think it makes me a bad fan if I realize that we still actually have to win games to clinch the division, and can't do so by planning our playoff rotation or looking over our shoulders at the freaking A's. I still look at the standings and the Twins/Indians scores everyday, even though we're 72-39 and 12.5 up. I won't be celebrating anything until we clinch the division. But seriously, it's just cynical to beat the "it can happen, we're bound to go through a tough stretch and fall enough to make the division close" line to death. Can it happen? Sure. Will it happen? No.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) What about another 5 games of stagnant offense with Podsednik doing his best Mike Caruso imitation? I didn't know there was some rule that said Iguchi had to bat 2nd. To me, he seems a hell of a lot more comfortable at the plate swinging with authority instead of trying to get the runner over. He's actually our worst player at swinging when there's a runner in motion. He always tries to protect the runner, and probably has a lot more strikeouts because of it. In no way is this trying to insult Iguchi. Rather, I mean to compliment him on the fact he's given himself up so much for the Sox this year. You can want to keep your 1-2 duo together as much as you want....but if this team continues to struggle to score runs against average pitchers, this race is going to get a lot closer than we want it to. I don't have faith in anyone else in the lineup to do what Iguchi does. Nobody is as unselfish as he is. And BTW.... WE ARE NOT GOING TO LOSE THE DIVISON!
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Something that has to be done right now is that we split up the whole 8-9-1 of Crede, Uribe, and Pods. All three of them are struggling so much, that basically we have 33 pct of our lineup batting consecutively without a real good chance of getting on base currently. I also think that if we move Iguchi to the 3rd spot, it might benefit our offense also. I know Iguchi does a great job of moving the runner over....but with Pods not getting on base, that's doing us no good. Also, having Rowand bat 2nd might help him stay on the ball longer and make him drive the ball up the middle/to the right side. Rowand's been hitting a ton of grounders to 3rd base lately cause he's become pull happy. Right now, this team should be playing very loose with the lead they have. What's wrong with experimenting with changes in the lineup? Experiment all you want, but I never want to see the 1-2 of Pods and Gooch seperated. You'd have to be Tony Little or this guy to ever sell me on changing those 2 guys' spot in the lineup.
  20. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) if facebooks a great timekiller, whats soxtalk? Another great timekiller. It's nice to be able to talk about the Sox somewhere, because I know absolutely no Sox fans here in Ft. Wayne. That was a great thing about getting down to Bloomington, there were actually a few Sox fans. I haven't been on facebook w/ a regularity in a long time; that might change when I get back on campus.
  21. QUOTE(KJean @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) As much as I hate the whole concept (and I know everyone always says that), I'm on it.... ^^ I see it as a great timekiller, nothing else.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) I challenge anyone to give me one good reason why Bob Wickman should even be considered for AL Cy Young. Other than the fact that he has a couple more saves than Hermanson and Rivera. Perhaps it is because Wickman has warriors on his side. http://www.wickmanswarriors.com/
  23. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) Yeah, I've got a double as a single all to myself on a corner room, so it should be nice. And I found out that my floormate who lives right next to me is a fellow German major and he's really nice. The food at Collins is excellent but I'll have to try and ignore the artistes and emo kids. Shorter walk to Kirkwood from Wright is always nice. Yeah, Collins definitely did have the best food. My friend and I would eat lunch there everyday first semester. The buffet was clutch there. You'll love having a double to yourself. That's what I ended up having last year, since my roommate left Indiana before school even started.
