QUOTE(T R U @ Jan 19, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) They were one win away from being bowl eligible, but, I am pretty sure that we aren't going to see any coach turn Indiana into a very good football program, and I am only saying this because of the competition in the Big 10 not as a knock against Indiana. They got crushed in a lot of those games. I agree with you there. It'll take a long time before we're talking about IU competing for Big Ten championships, if ever. However, Coach Hep's done a good job improving this team from year to year in his two seasons, and it will almost be a disappointment if the Hoosiers don't get a bowl game this year. That's saying a lot, considering what kind of football program IU has (or doesn't). I can take solace in them at least taking steps in the positive direction. -

QUOTE(T R U @ Jan 19, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) Thats why we have Dom Capers as Defensive Coordinator, Cameron isn't going to have to mess with that and we will still be a top defense like we are almost every year. The thing I like best about Cameron is the offense that has come with him as a coach. Sure, Indiana sucks but they always suck and chances are they always will. However, he had that offense going. He was responsible for turning Antwaan Randle El into an all american. He has also helped develop guys like Brees and Rivers and Gates and so on. Defense is not an issue here, Capers is running that and doing a damn fine job at it. Were going to have a competent offense now though, and Buffalo is most likely losing Nate Clements which brings a smile to my face. They've got some decent recruits coming in, and they were one win from a bowl this last season. We didn't lose much from this past season's roster. The Hoosiers are bowling this year; book it. -

That was f***ing money, definitely one of my favorites now. I thought maintaining song was going to make this hard to have a storyline and everything. Very excellent. I can't wait to watch that one again.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 06:10 PM) Whoa I didnt take a jab at anyone but the big ten. Beating the big ten isnt exactly saying much this year because its weak, that was my point. thank god. I'll make a point to not jump in on cbball discussions again, obviously the irate Illinois fans have been replaced by irate IU fans. funny thing is, I actually really like IU, i've been a huge Bob knight fan since way back when I was young. It was my second choice of places to go to school. But im sure i was just trying to be an ass here, and not actually say something rational. I think everyone agrees that the Big Ten is down, and if that's the only point you were making that's fine. But I just find it funny that it's a given that this is how things are going to shake out in the Big Ten. It's everywhere: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/bubblewatch?id=38 Wiscy and OSU are considered the only locks for the Big Ten conference right now. And I find that to be kind of humorous. With the exception of edging IU at home, I don't think there's much more that Ohio State has done that Indiana hasn't done. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 05:55 PM) Jesus, IU fans are somewhat angry huh? Its not my opinion I was stating, its alot of people's opinions. The big ten is pretty weak this year, I think anyone should realize that. As for saying we got beat badly by top ten teams, well if you play the 1,2,3 teams in the country on their home floor, I would say the chances of you winning those contests are not great, dont you agree? Also if Oden leaves (which I dont think he will) we still have some of the best young players in the big ten on the floor. Matta has proven that he can recruit some great players, and can even coach also-ran players deep into the tourney. Without "God-Oden" we won the big ten regular season last year, remember that? Dont forget about the other 7 foot plus beast we have coming in next year to possibly replace Oden, and the Mr Basketball of Ohio. its not like we are rival teams, im wondering why so much angst towards OSU, did they do something to you guys personally or something? We're only saying something because you had to take a jab at SIU playing IU. And you wouldn't have said anything if it wasn't R&W wasn't the one to make the post, since all you do is follow him around. Do everyone a favor and put him on ignore. We get it; you don't like him. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) Thats not saying much as there are basically two good teams in the big ten a pack of passable teams, and then the bottom of the barrel. I really wish you guys were coming here this season, since you just squeaked by us on your home court. The only reason OSU is a lock right now is because of God Oden. They really haven't done anything Indiana hasn't done this year. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 18, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) Wouldn't it seem about right for the to kill a cast member off tonight? It just seems like every time they do a gimmicky type episode it ends in a lot of drama like killing off the Cheers writer in the Sitcom episode. Nah, I bet it's later in the season, they've put a lot on the viewers' plate early in the season for them to have that happen tonight IMO.

I don't think the home court was much of an advantage for Indiana in the December meeting, since the refs called ticky tack s*** on both teams. Also, we (the students) were all on break, so that place wasn't even close to being as loud as it normally is, regardless how many people were in the building. But anyways...though it's a long shot, I wouldn't be mad to have a post-season rematch against the Salukis. -

I know it's not a pretty trade, but I'm pretty damn happy with this. Anything to get SJax finally off the team is great. And though he can put up good numbers, I'm also ready to send JO packing for something too. I want the Pacers to be purged of anyone linked to Artest; it's for the best. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 02:56 PM) If the Sox can deal Joseph for a couple pieces including a major leaguer or 2 they will do it and I will welcome such a trade with open arms no matter how much I love watching Joe at the hot corner. And if that deal doesn't arise, do the Sox just play this game again next year with the plans of trading him or letting him go while getting nothing in return? Hopefully your dream scenario plays out, because I personally don't see the Sox coming out in winners in this.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) As KW has mentioned in interviews, the Sox do not believe this. They think surgery will leave him in better condition for the future than just rehabing. It really seemed like if Crede had just gone under the knife the Sox would have been willing to sign him long term. Well if that's the case and the Sox don't plan on bending from that opinion, we might as well never mention the words contract and Crede ever again because he's long gone. Pretty sad.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) I don't think it's out of the question to think the Sox might not even want to give Joe a long term deal, even if the agent was someone else. -The way I have understood things, the Sox would feel better if Joe went under the knife to get the back fixed. Boras has made it clear Crede would only do that if a long term deal was worked out. -As Kal mentioned a few posts ago, Crede was awful in September, and it seemed to alot of us that Joe was hurting. -For whatever reason, the Sox seem high on Fields. Maybe not at 3rd, but they seem high on Fields as a hitter. So I guess my question is. To dumb it down, why would the Sox give a guy a bunch of money just to have surgery? That doesn't seem like a smart investment. They have a guy waiting in the wings that they are high on, and the future of Crede and his back are a huge question mark. I just don't see the Sox that eager to get a deal done. I recall seeing the rehab Crede's going through is just as effective as the surgery. The surgery requires going under the knife and going through rehab. If the result is the same from both, wouldn't you do the same as Crede's doing? If that's the Sox' case in this deal, that's pretty lame.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) Greasy, I'm more so saying that the Colts were still undefeated after beating the Patriots in week nine. Since then, they've been a completely different team, and although they have won two games in the playoffs, they've been very beatable since that week nine game. Even if that's what you're trying to say, my point stays the same. The Colts were a different team all season. They may have started the season 9-0, but they never hit their stride or coasted like they have in past seasons. Look at the scores of the Colts' games during the first 9 games: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/teams/schedule?team=ind With the exception of the Houston game, the Colts were down in all of those games, and just squeaked by to get the W. Usually all the Colts games in the regular season are like the Houston game; the Colts have been beatable all year. -
QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 01:43 PM) I couldn't be happier to see Crede gone after this season. His ceiling was about what he hit last year, in my opinion, factoring in future back injuries and his career average. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) I think I'm with you on this...get another year out of him and then ring in the Josh Fields era. I don't understand that reasoning. Crede finished the 2005 regular season strong, and carried that play into the postseason to be one of our best players in October. And Crede did not revert back to his old form statistically during the 2006 season. He was a very solid bat, while remaining one of our best gloves on the team. I don't get the reasoning for the Sox to have waited all this time for Crede to become serviceable after some horrid years, and spin him off as soon as he becomes legit just so we can restart the cycle with another unproven player at 3B.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 01:51 PM) The Colts have a case, although I think we'd both agree that they are a different team now than when they played in week nine. It should be a great game, I'm hoping the Patriots come out on top. While this is true, I'd definitely expect a game from the Colts side more similar to how they played in week 9 than they have the past two weeks. I have much more faith in our offense than I do in our defense, regardless of the D's play in the playoffs. The Colts offense has proven themselves for a much longer period of time than the defense has. If the D plays the way they have the past two weeks, I more than like the Colts' chances. But as of right now, I consider what the defense has done to be an aberration right now, until they can prove to play like that on a consistent basis. -------- Now that the Chargers were eliminated, I think it's fair to say that you can make a legitimate case for all the remaining teams and their chances of winning a SB. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) What the heck are you talking about. Most experts I've heard are all picking the Colts. In fact I'd be surprised if anyone picked the Pats (the only valid reason for picking them is based on past success of Brady/Belli in the playoffs and that is it because the Colts are the superior team). A lot of the picks aren't even released until the end of the week, but I'm not seeing people pick the Colts. Everyone here is excited to see Brady pick apart the Colts again, and everyone says all the teams but the Colts have a sufficient running game. CNNSI.com picks the Pats ESPN.com Accuscore and the ESPN Motion video of Jeremy Green picks the Pats So I'm not seeing where people are picking the Colts as of right now. -
That's pretty damn cheap. Hopefully we can work on a long-term contract with him, but I don't see that happening at all.
