  1. I wonder if this is the last class we'll see where the HOF inductees played their entire careers for one team.
  2. I'm stealing this idea from ATH, but it's pretty damn solid: Jose Canseco's not considered a HOFer, what makes Mark McGwire one? Other than HRs, McGwire only has 7 more RBIs and more walks. Canseco's better in just about every category.
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 05:04 PM) Thinking about it... I even made the comment after the opening kickoff last night. That game reminded me a whole lot of the '02 Orange bowl. Iowa took the opening kick to the house then got steamrolled. (Though they still made more of a game out of it than OSU last night) Also, I was thinking about Iowa's recent bowl opponents Texas Tech -- Win USC -- Loss (shared national title next year, and have been best team in CFB since) Florida -- Win LSU -- Win (defending champ) Florida -- Loss (won NT in next season) Texas -- Loss (defending champ)(NT next season?) If I'm a bowl team, I want to beat Iowa in their bowl game. It looks like the path to a NT... It's like beating the Colts in the playoffs.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) I don't think Belle deserves it. I tihnk part of what makes you a HOFer is the ability to be good for a long peirod of time and while Belle was good for 10 years and was one of the best players in the game for a few of him, he didn't have the longevity to be in the hall. And in case you were wondering, no, I don't think Kirby Puckett should be in the hall either. However if they vote Kirby in (and he wasn't near the character guy everyone thought he was) than those same voters should give Belle the same shot (cause he was one of the very best at what he did for a few year stretch). Of course I am very strict when it comes to HOFer's. Mike Piazza isn't in my hall simply because I consider him a first baseman and as a first baseman I think he should have been great for a long period (and 99% of the world will disagree with me on that one). The character thing is interesting. There's a lot of different ways that can go: Puckett was loved by the media and was a pretty bad person off the field. Belle was hated by the media and was a pretty bad person off the field. Frank seems to be the opposite of Puckett.
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) And they used to have a great college football crew but at a lot of points this year we had this guy on there (whose name escapes me) who is singlehandedly has the worse voice and the lease amount of knowledge of any broadcaster I've ever heard of. And the women in the booth with him is terrible as well (Heads would know the crew as they did the ISU-Iowa game and eventually I had to mute it). The guy sounds like Lou Holtz, but not near as funny (since Holtz can crack me up on senility alone). I think Lavin is a lot like DJ....its an acquired taste and obviously we got taste (especially you since you can apparently stand our podcasts, lol). Heh, I know the lady you're talking about too. She's manly sounding; it's scary. But yeah, Lavin and DJ are definitely the best in the biz.
  6. I hope Lavin never coaches again, just so we can hear his greatness on TV. Lavin spits these crazy lines out like nothing all the time, and they work and make so much sense after the fact. That group is awesome. I love how they're the premiere Big Ten trio on ESPN, and Vitale never does Big Ten games outside of the Challenge. And Majerus is great too on the West Coast games with his discussions about OHHffense down in the POHHst.

    MacWorld

I love Windows, but everything Apple makes anymore looks so clean.
  8. Can't wait for that game tonight, and the glorious trio of Steve Lavin, Brent Musberger, and Erin Andrews.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 11:18 AM) That was a complete waste of a night if you watched that load of crap. Scrubs came on at 10 on CC; I went over to that.
  10. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 02:02 AM) How does that work? I believe Doc was doing it too.
  11. They couldn't have casted a better actor for the role of JD's brother; ZB and TC look a lot like.
  12. Yeah, a lot of the fantasies and quirky stuff was all in JD's head in seasons 1-3, and the stuff started occurring a bit more in the real world during seasons 4 and 5. Seasons 1-3 are definitely the stronger ones, but the more I watch the 4 and 5, the more I like those. They're all pretty close. I can't pick one favorite so I'll pick a couple from each season: 1: My Old Man (w/ John Ritter) and My Occurrence (w/ Brendan Fraser) 2: My Overkill and My First Step 3: My Catalyst (w/ Michael J. Fox) and My Screw Up (w/ Brendan Fraser) 4: My Cake, My Life in Four Cameras, and My Best Laid Plans 5: My Way Home and My Lunch This show has to do one of the best jobs incorporating guest roles.
  13. Again, late to getting a chance to listen, but I finally got to check out the greatness that is STOA. The trades were pretty interesting. I’m not disappointed with either of them, but I’m not blown away by either trades. The trades send mixed messages about what direction we’re heading. However, I think we still have the opportunity to compete, while re-tooling for the future. Good points Jason, and crazy beginning for you throwing the curve ball on your opinion of the trades. And though it’s nice having a power pitching bullpen like that, I agree with what you said Mario. I would like a pitcher or two that are a little more finesse and bring something else to the table to bring some variety to the pen. I agree about Buehrle’s future, if he’s going to demand the same kind of market pitchers have gotten this winter. You guys are right about it not being worth considering giving a pitcher over four years. Mario’s reaction to Jeff Weaver, and good call on rebuilding/f***ing up Jas, it is for losers. And about Soriano checking the scoreboard, I remember Timo was a big advocate of this as well. He would always watch replays of himself on the board, after making a play in the OF. Your rants at the end were great. You should close every show like that. Hahaha, great job guys.
  14. Better news coming from Uribe's camp now: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) Over Rated CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP!!!!
  16. LJ and the Chiefs tore apart the Colts D something terrible with their 126 total yards. :crying
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) Greg Paulus got pwned nasty style in that game. I hope some photographer got a good picture of that...
  18. These officials are doing everything they can to give this game to Duke. But VT wins anyways 69-67!
