QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 16, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) Are we gonna have a "Catch-All Anything 2007" thread on Jan 1st? This is kinda big. Never. It really doesn't seem like a big deal, as this thread really isn't much of a continuation of anything. It's just random thoughts at random times.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
greasywheels121 replied to AssHatSoxFan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) We've hit our 1st mini slump of the season losing 4 of 5. Dwight's had 2 bad games in a row which hasn't helped, but Nelson, Turkoglu and Bogans all didn't play tonight. So we need to get it going again pretty soon. It all started against the Pacers, who had a great win against Detroit tonight. -
Who knows if Boras is even upset. Saying Matsuzaka was worth $100M and then having him sign the next day for almost half of that could have been a bargaining ploy to get his price up a little bit.

QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) I can't wait until my final final of school period... which is still about 2 years away... I can wait. I'm bummed I only have 1.5 semesters left.

You're probably right in saying they won't gain much more viewership/ratings by people flipping channels. But that's exactly how I became a Sox fan when I was a kid. I randomly came across a game on TV, and then I ended up randomly learning that was where/when they were on and starting learning players, etc. (This was coincidentally back in 1993). So though it may be rare, it's not completely implausible.

Once again a smart-ass post. GPratt's post was of some substance; unlike your's saying he's a roider b/c YOU SAID SO!!!!1!1

I've got one more late Friday afternoon, and pardon my ignorance (I probably even know this), but what's WoW? Duhr nevermind, Warcraft, right?

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Dec 13, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) I wonder how the attendance is compared to the TV Ratings. It seems like more diehard fans are actually going to the games now. It will probably take a couple more years for the ratings to go back up. I've read on various occassions that attendance isn't any better, but it's about the same or a little worse. I Googled it, just to see if I could find a recent article stating as much: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...orts/columnists Attendance is 1% worse right now than it was prior to the lockout; however, revenues are greater thanks to ridiculous ticket prices.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) That's not good enough. I need a needle directly out of his ass to be sure about this one. Enough with the smart-ass remarks. I haven't even heard his name in any kind of rumors. I get suspicious of people that have certain appearance changes and people that get their names listed for this and that, just as anyone else in the world does. However, I've seen neither when it comes to Gagne, and that's been my point all along.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) I know I've heard a few rumors crop up here and there, and he is one of those guys with a big performance spike and dropoff after 04, but as far as we know he hasn't tested positive, no one's produced documents and witnesses saying they injected him, he wasn't in Canseco's book, and no one found anything in his locker. I'm not saying he for certain didn't, I'm saying that thus far I haven't seen anything that meets any standard of proof other than looking for a rapid rise and decline at about 02-04 (and with a fireballing pitcher, that can happen just from injuries too) Agreed on the second part. By saying what I said, I'm not saying I won't be surprised if he was found to have used steroids at some point. However, I don't feel he deserves to be held in the same regard as Bonds, Sosa, and McGwire yet.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) Don't give me that BS, Balta. Everyone and their brother knows that he juiced, regardless of the evidence. I don't remember him being in any of the talks, nor have I ever considered him. So Balta's not the only one to think that way.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) It also doesn't help that some providers (mine being one of them) doesn't carry OLN/Versus either. Yeah, I had no idea they changed their name. I get the channel at home (Comcast), but not here at school (Insight).

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) I will disagree with you about those two, especially the Knicks. All you hear about is Isiah Thomas and the Knicks. Rutgers got HUGE run (Granted that was a good story, but IMO Bosie State is a similar story that did not get that much run) Rutgers got valid play, and I think Boise State didn't get much play because they do this every year. And their name just comes up every time people bring up the problems with the BCS.

Sox offer arbitration to Crede & Cintron

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Konerko's deal looks like a helluva bargain right now. Likewise with Garland and Contreras. Yeah, we lucked out big time locking up what we could when we did. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) Based on Boras's comments regarding Matsuzaka today, I would be shopping Crede if I were the Sox. Imagine what he will say about Crede when he becomes a free agent. There will be teams lining up to pay Crede 70 or 80 million for 5 or 6 seasons after Boras gets him on the open market. The Sox aren't going to be one of them. If the Sox can get a solid deal in place to move Crede, I say go for it. Agreed. It's sad that contracts are getting this ridiculous and owners are actually signing them. I don't see this boding well for the Sox. -
Lofton's 11th team, if my counting skills are right. Interesting to see Gagne making that much in a year he'll really have to prove himself.
