Well KC Johnson is reporting that LBJ's camp has not told the Bulls they are out of it, and ultimately you can argue the presentations were just a dog and pony show, it doesn't change that looking at the rosters right now if he wants to win it's either Chi or Mia

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) JA Adande said on ESPN 1000 that the Bulls bombed their presentation to Lebron how so, any details? It would be weird that it's just being reported now, 4 days after it happened since a ton of details about the other meetings, like NYK and MIA got out

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) stephen a smith was on a sports radio show i was listening to earlier still saying lebron to heat for 3 yrs then bolting to NJ when they go to Brooklyn....he was pretty pissed ppl were questioning his sources..... he was on the victor "the brick" jacobs show.... it's a realistic scenario, but don't the Heat still have to clear cap space?

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) They won't have nearly enough money for a max guy. Lebron, Amare, Gallinari and Douglas is $40 mil at least, leaving them only $12 mil to work with even if the cap stays the same. Even to get that, Chandler would be gone and so would anyone else on the roster. OK, well that takes the lure of another FA, but I could still see LBJ's ego having him sign with the Knicks

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) Do the Bulls have to make another move to pull a LeBron signing, like a Deng trade or do they have enough for James now? according to reports it's constructed to leave enough for 1 max deal with no other moves

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) The Bulls just blocked the Nets and Knicks and put them in the race for James. I think it's now a race between the Bulls and Cavs. I don't buy the idea of James to the Heat. I don't take the Knicks out of it, the city and opportunities might lure him there and he might buy into Eddy Curry's expiring contract luring a big FA next season.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) ugh...i don't wanna get my hopes up again just to be shattered but slowly and surely im getting pulled into the theory of us landing him again this was the Bulls plan if you believe Chad Ford, it was LBJ or nothing, because he reported they could have had Wade and Bosh but decided to wait on LBJ. So if they fail they did it on their terms. B & B made a good point that Rod Thorn came out and said they were going to work on Boozer, so it was a big score to keep him from the Nets and answer the Amar'e move.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Some others have pointed this out in this thread....honestly, why would Carlos Boozer's agent allow him to sign this contract TODAY unless there was another purpose? Could he not have forced someone to give him a max contract simply by waiting until Friday? Who the hell else were the Bulls going to sign? they could have went with nobody and torched the thing and tried to be a lottery team next year. The way the NBA works it is a crazy but viable option

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) KCJHoop Bulls have not been told by anybody from LBJ camp that they're out of sweepstakes. http://bit.ly/cnKjFS that's actually a pretty big piece of news because a lot of people were painting it that the Bulls were out.

FWIW Jared Dudley of the Suns said his sources say LBJ is going to the Knicks, I know it doesn't mean anything but Nash's retweet saying it would mean something if anybody knew who Dudley was is pretty funny!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) The Bulls have tried their damned hardest. Give them God damn props. They are in the best possible position to bring in LeBron, and if he is focused on his image, building his legacy, and winning championships, he'll sign with the Bulls. If he's not, there's nothing the BULLS could have done about it. yeah, the Bulls focused on LBJ and made it the best scenario they could

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) One thing I ponder, why would Boozer take the exact amount needed to leave room for a max if he didn't think we had someone else coming? Just something to think about! unless he knows LBJ is staying in Cle, or going to Miami or NYK and Nets and Bulls were offering basically the same and he likes Chicago better

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) The worst thing that could happen is Lebron going to Miami. Every other scenario has the Bulls making a legitmate play for the top seed in the East, year in and year out. someone who is a little more familiar with the cap situations could confirm or deny this, but for him to go to Miami there needs to be a S & T, and I would think there would be rumors from the second team involved.

B & B made a few interesting points, Boers thinks this move alone makes the Bulls equal or better than the Heat, this was a move to help counter any momentum the Knicks may have gained with Amar'e and it is official that they have a max left

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) If Cleveland did that, they won't sell out any games and their fans will despise them forever. yeah, only way they keep fans is spinning it as LBJ is evil, assisting him in leaving Cleveland could eventually force that team to move, and I don't think I'm being over dramatic

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) Cleveland refuses to do it. They are basically daring LeBron to leave. at this point if he doesn't go to Mia or Chi (of the teams still "in it") he has little to no chance of winning a title in Cle, now I still think NYK is a viable option for him because they can be OK this year but basically eat it for a year and hope 'Melo or another FA goes there soon... Durant is signing a 5 year extension with the thunder BTW

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) Paying a 33 year old Carlos Boozer $18 million is going to be VERY ugly. yeah, but if after the new agreement is anything like this one he can always become one of those coveted "expiring contracts" that teams want

well GarPax swung for the fences if the rumor about them having Bosh/Wade put opting to wait on LBJ were true, have to give them that much!

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) Does that leave enough room for LeBron? i think it leaves basically the amount they need for one max deal

I would be very ticked if they passed on Wade/Bosh over a chance at LBJ, I think Wade will break down before the end of his contract but he still has 3-4 years left

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) I wonder when LBJ will tell the his new/current team his decision. Could the team really not know at this point? he might have only told 2 people in the org and that's it

hopefully Bucher is not being sarcastic about news to make Bulls fans happy... Bernstein has good sources with the Bulls, so it may be baseless, but I believe the FO has hope

7/7 - LA vs. Sox
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:18 AM) I heard he just scratched his knee. Ozzie said he could have DH'd last night but didn't want to risk anything further... Obviously I hope this doesn't happen, but one of these games could get ugly because if one of the starters doesn't go deep it could turn into the Eric Threets experience for a few innings. Overall though that would be the smart thing to do, let one guy eat it and save the pen

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) Watching any sport is supposed to be entertainment. So you're saying if the Sox couldn't win a championship, but kept on getting to the ALDS or maybe the ALCS once or twice, you'd rather be the worst team in baseball instead of that? completely different sport and structure both in salary and competition, if the White Sox got to those positions they automatically have a chance to win a WS, the Bulls can continually get to the playoffs as a mid to low seed for the next 5 years and maybe even pull an upset or two in the East, but still be very far away from winning an NBA title. Cardinals from '06, i believe, are a good example of a team scraping into the playoffs and everything working right for them and they win a WS, Marlins have never won a division but have won 2 WS titles, however when's the last "out of nowhere" NBA team that won a title?
