  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 12:11 AM) It's going to be interesting to see how long they wait for Kotsay to spring back to life. I have a feeling it has more to do with waiting for to see if the market drops than waiting for Kotsay to turn around.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) All I really care is that Aramis Ramirez stays with the Cubs, because trading him to Detroit makes a ton of sense for both the Cubs and Tigers. Yeah, but with his contract involving NTC and options and all the money it doesn't make a bunch of sense for either team.
  3. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) Talks are floating that there will be a Forrest vs Tito 3 for UFC 121. Yawn... Tito is fighting Hamill on that card
  4. I'm not basing it off the fact he hit 2 HRs since coming off the DL, but just that he would be an upgrade, I think Luke Scott would be a suitable guy to target and probably get him for something reasonable.
  5. I'd go with a mix of both of you two... there isn't a ton of draws in MMA, in fact, there really has never been a big draw outside of the UFC that wasn't Kimbo or Gina since "UFC" itself is really the biggest draw in U.S. MMA. Honestly, SF is spinning this, they majorly dropped the ball with that whole situation. As much as I love Dan Henderson, he was not a proven draw, even with him highlight reeling Bisping at 100, the UFC knew this, wouldn't overpay him or give him an automatic rematch at Anderson (they wanted him to fight Nate) then SF snapped him up, made him basically the lone focal point for their CBS show in the NCAA Tournament advertising and let Shields fight him on the last fight of his contract with no champions clause. Basically SF knew Dana would overpay him if necessary to take him away from SF and SF cut him to move on and basically cut his negotiation leverage.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) Can someone explain to me why people like Adam LaRoche so much? for me it's because he's not Mark Kotsay... Laroche isn't putting up crazy numbers or anything, basic stat but his OPS+ is 100 while Kotsay's is 81, so basically he would be an average hitter, but an upgrade from Kotsay and I think he would be cheap when it comes to prospects. I'm usually all for erring on the side of trading prospects to go for it now, but some of the names I hear being thrown around for 2 months of Dunn concern me
  7. I know there are a few loopholes, but wouldn't he have to be on the roster before September 1st so he could pitch in any potential playoff series? It wouldn't make a ton of sense to rush him, have him come up September 1st be effective, at least better than Threets or Williams, and then the Sox make the playoffs and can't use him
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) It looks that way, but I think Lou would have been fired already if that were in the plans. It's too late to salvage the season now, so they might as well let him ride peacefully into the sunset. I tend to agree with you, the only thing that might have prompted his firing was if the Cubs actually thought they were going to be able to dump a lot of the high salary veterans and slot a player development player type guy as the interim manager for the rest of the season, but with it looking like they won't be able to dump a lot of the crap, might as well just let Lou stick around. Some of those Cubs contracts are so bad, today on the Score they were talking about how good of a fit A-Ram would be for the Tigers, but he has a few big years left on his deal plus a player option and a NTC, meaning he would likely demand the option be picked up before agreeing to any move, basically making him immovable unless the Cubs eat 1/2 the deal, even with him starting to hit
  9. http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...90&zoneid=2 well, in news that was just a matter of time, Shields has officially signed with the UFC, he will fight at WW and his first fight is against Kampmann
  10. Friar Tuck's, it's kind of a dive, but cheap, laid back and if you become a regular like I was in grad school, you get free booze.
  11. If Hudson falters some, although his stuff looks good, just had zero control of it Sunday, I would give Pena a shot at starting, when he is in for multiple innings he doesn't look like he overthrows or tries to make a perfect pitch every time and seems effective.
  12. Mark Hunt is on the 119 card for the UFC, may seem odd considering he isn't exactly on a warpath right now, but Dana said they owed him fights on his PRIDE contract, I'm just surprised he's going to be able to cut to 265. I can see it, they have 4 shows in a month and a half and it was this or buy him out, might as well get something for your money, he could also provide a spectacular KO. Faber is of WEC 50 with an injury, but looking at September to fight again, he will be fighting at 135 now. King Mo vs. Feijao for the belt, Tim Kennedy vs. Jacare for Shields old belt (original talk was a tournament, but Coker said they will have this fight then a smaller tournament for #1 contender, which Cung Le and Hendo will NOT be a part of), KJ Noons vs. Gurgel and Lashley vs. TBA for a 8/21 show in Houston. SF is also talking about having Fedor vs. Overeem for the title, yes that would be two guys coming off losses fighting for the HW title. It has something to do with M-1 and contracts, Fedor has one fight left on his SF and despite what Dana is saying SF is afraid to let him play it out and walk.
  13. Goff retweeted a LBJ tweet that said something like "Now history begins" he really doesn't get that a lot of people think this is whack and won't view it as "history" if/when they when some titles.
  14. Yankees likely won't find too many people outside of NY feeling bad for them, I would imagine that extends to other teams, do this to another team, might have hurt future deals, to the NYY with their payroll other teams can't even sniff, it will probably slide
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) This means Chris Davis is once again the Rangers' starting 1B for the time being. Smoaks OPS was .670 this year, Davis is worse at like .570, but it's not like Smoak was tearing the cover off the ball... again, Smoak has a chance to be a very good player in the future, but Lee is more valuable to the Rangers winning this year
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) Smoak was an overpay, IMO. Perez or Scheppers would've constituted as a gang rape. I love it, I love to see teams that haven't won in awhile go for the jugular. Smoak looks like he has a lot of potential, but Lee helps them tons more right now.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Rangers did a great job of holding on to Perez, Salty (good trade chip), Sheppers especially in that ballpark for the future, I don't want to take away from Smoak, but a power hitter is easier for the Rangers to replace than basically any other team in baseball
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) Whew! I was about to compare the Rangers to the 2007 Braves. the Tex deal?
  19. awesome news, really wanted him to go to NL, but thanks for the poster for pointing out Rangers still have games with Twins and Detroit and we don't, but 2 series with now a Lee-less seattle squad
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) I REALLY hope he goes to the Rangers. I say this because the Twins have 7 games left w/ the Rangers, the Tigers have 5 games left, and the Sox are DONE with them. The only time the Sox might have to see them is in the playoffs. excellent point, just the fact that those two have to face that offense again and the Sox don't make me happy!
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) Lee, Volquez, Cueto, Leake, Arroyo with Chapman gaining experience in the minors to slot in for Lee in 2011, good job Cincy front office!
  22. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) BNightengale #mlb Now with the Yankees out, it's a clear two-team race for Lee between the Rangers and Reds. 4 minutes ago via web There Twins aren't being mentioned anywhere. please let this be true, please oh please!!!! That is a win for the White Sox
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) Get it done Cinci. they way St. Louis has been playing, this would be huge for the Reds
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:42 PM) This is crazy considering he's supposed to be starting tonight. Let's see if that happens. Go Reds. good point, but with the all star break coming up if I'm the team trading for him I may want him to start tonight and get a little limited work in, but I believe CC pitched right before he got moved
  25. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) Ken_Rosenthal #Reds have spoken "extensively" to M's about Lee over last 48 hrs, source tells FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi. #Rangers also in. #MLB 5 minutes ago via web :pray :pray God I love the fact that "Twins" is not appearing in any of this, hopefully they are not a last minute drop in, even if they are sounds like they are going to have to at least give up a couple of top prospects, but Rangers or NL is perfect
