makes a ton of sense for him to stay in NL and he's use to pitching in an NL band box stadium... not a huge prospect guy so not sure what the Phills are giving up outside of Happ, but I like the move for the Phills, they've been stumbling and injured and only about 3-4 games out in the East. Although still have to question if they should have shuffled the deck to see if they could have kept Lee and Halladay from day one.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 07:52 AM) With Lilly being such a hot commodity right now, you have to believe the Cubs have been offered significantly better packages than that. Lilly is still Lilly at the end of the day. He's not a player teams are going to get into a bidding war over, I imagine teams interested in him are offering very similar packages and it's up to the Cubs to scout the prospects and see which ones they like they best. I could see him being more valuable to an NL team and one of them giving up a little more.

only reason I would want Lily is if they use Hudson for a big bat, Lilly in the AL at this point would would be a serviceable 4th or 5th, I know 2 out of his 3 starts have been blah this year, but given the choice I would rather see what Hudson could do over Lilly.

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...1&zoneid=14 UFC on Vs. 2 is on Sunday, looks like it could be an entertaining card, will be interested to see how Munoz looks in a pretty decent step up in competition and Griffin/Gomi could be interesting... always interested to see how Jones is progressing, the Janitor is a tough opponent, maybe not an upper level guy, but a tough vet for sure. Also in an interesting note Big John McCarthy will be reffing on the card, first UFC card in a long time, he was a judge on a recent WEC show though.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) He has a full no trade clause. 5 years/$65M (2006-10) signed extension with Cubs 4/06, replacing final year of previous deal, which was to pay $8M for 2006 06-10: $13M annually no-trade clause award bonus: $0.1M for All Star selection ah OK, wasn't 100% sure since Score was reporting it using his 10/5 rights instead of a negotiated clause

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) Haha, Jim Hendry's no trade clause on every contract is starting to haunt them. Hendry is a bad GM IMO and handed out some bad contracts, but Lee used his 10/5 rights for this, I am 99% sure he didn't have a clause in his contract

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) that surprises me, you would think Lee would want to go to a possible contender I wouldn't be surprised if he waives it to go to a team that is more in contention, but I could see him not wanting play in CA for 2 months with a team that's 8.5 out of first and basically no shot at the wild card.

Let's talk out of the box for a second... I know Pedro said he won't pitch this year, but is it worth KW or Ozzie getting on the phone and trying to convince him to be the 5th starter on this team if they deal Hudson? Also, Brett Myers would be a good replacement in the rotation, obviously would trend down in the AL, but wouldn't be too prospect expensive and even if it's the only move I would be OK with it... but also Luke Scott would be suitable, just need to get a respectable DH in the lineup, Rh or Lh

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 12:18 AM) Slightly off-topic, but I'm surprised nobody's considering Mitchell a big part of any deal. I think he's a better 'spect than Danks, even with the injury. I'd rather have him if I'm the Nats, considering they're more than a year away anyway. that may be the hidden gem, if Mitchell can come back strong it's a great surprise for the Sox farm system... it's so hard for me, as a Sox fan if they can find their way into the playoffs with the pen they have and a rolling Danks, Floyd and MB with Dunn in the lineup that is tremendous, the thing is, how do we do it with Torres/Garcia as 4 and 5?

well one benefit of 1/2 price night is parking is 1/2 price and I believe that's a good stream of revenue for the club.

Great win, beating the King is always good!

Tigers have a tough schedule coming up and with the injuries the Twins and White Sox can make it a 2 team race if Tigers don’t add something.

try lean ground turkey and other poultry, you can spice those things up a lot and they taste very good... biggest thing I would advocate is cut out white flower most of the time, there is a ton of good wheat or other alternatives available. Best of luck!

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) it's not about a lineup that can compete with the yankees, red sox and rangers. It's about a pitching staff that can compete with them. So I agree with Jordan, the deal for Haren is frustrating as all hell. I don't give a s*** about the left-handed bat issue except that i'm glad we haven't overpaid (yet) for the likes of Dunn. to me it's always hard to be frustrated/mad about a deal that any team didn't get done... it's easy to sit back and look at the end result but realistically we have no idea the inner workings of the deal, ie what communication went on, what the Diamondbacks were looking for, how they scouted every teams prospects, etc..

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) What about the Twins if Houston pays for a part of that option? maybe, but I would imagine it would have to be a healthy part of the option so the Twins would have to trade a top tier prospect... I don't see Houston taking 1/2 unless it's a crazy good prospect, so just guessing, but I would imagine for a lot of teams to be interested they'd have to eat like 4-6m of it. He'll be 34 at the start of that 2012 year.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) @jcrasnick: well realistically this really limits it to the NYY, I really can't see many teams willing to roll the dice on that.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) Bingo. When I watch Hudson I see good life on his fastball, a solid slider, and a pretty solid looking chaneup. Quite frankly, I see a lot to like and I would be perfectly content battling for the division with the current roster. Would I like an upgrade at DH, absolutely, but if it is going to cost Hudson or Beckham count me out. I would be ok giving up Viciedo for the right pieces and am less concerned about guys like Flowers. The big question to me is what would it cost for a Luke Scott type of bat. If it costs Morel, do the Sox consider that deal? knowing KW's track record, I think he wouldn't blink to trade Morel. I'm kind of with you about Hudson, I see a lot of potential for him to be a good MLB starter, so unless it's like a Fielder deal with an extension (pipe dream) I would be hesitant to move him. The reason I am anxious for KW to make a sizable move this season is with the pen and Gavin/Danks/MB I want to see what this team can do in the playoffs with an upgrade at DH. Honestly, if he stands pat Dayan needs to DH everyday IMO.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) [insertpitchingcoach] can fix him? In all reality the arm is still there. I could see a team taking a chance on him simply because he would be way better than anything else out there. I agree with you. they wouldn't get top tier prospects back, but I could see a team giving something for him. There are a lot of crappy bull-pens on contending teams that could easily slot jenks in.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 08:35 AM) Stone said on M&H this morning that Kenny is going to make a "significant move" Take it FWIW Did he say this based on what he's hearing or his feeling in how KW has dealt in the past?
-
any scout from a team interested in him really shouldn't be scared away from his performance, his stuff still looks good. He's a young prospect and any of the teams who want him for the long term would likely still base their assessment of him off their minor league scouting and that when he actually shows some control he can be effective in MLB

he calls a good game, blocks a ton of stuff in the dirt and keeps the pace up... and now that more of the pitchers are giving him a chance against runners he's actually showing he can be good there too, his D is underrated by a lot of people.
