QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) Problem with the 3 of them going to the Heat is that they would have no money left. It would be the 3 of them and 9 other guys on minimum contracts. 2 superstars, one all star and a bunch of D-leaguers. One injury and that team goes to crap. Everyone was arguing that it was always Lebron on 5 in Cleveland, well, it potentially is Lebron and Wade (or Bosh) on 5, which is nearly as bad. These guys aren't THAT good, especially against teams with other all star calibar players. IMO Lebron/Rose/Noah/Boozer/Deng + bench is nearly as good as Lebron/Wade/Bosh/nobody/nobody and a nobody bench. OK, but one can still defend him opting to go to Miami, the other teams aren't really defendable. I think he wanted to go to NYK or the Nets really bad, that's where he wants to be, however, even with Amar'e to the NYK he and his people don't think it's enough at this point and the Nets aren't there either. He stays with the Cavs for the 3 years and this fiasco starts again and LBJ hopes one of those two teams is in a better spot. (Although I still say there's a small chance he says the Knicks tomorrow)

QUOTE (Y2Jimmy @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) I would be very surprised if this game gets played tonight. There will be thunderstorms all night. weather.com has it at about 40% chance through the entire game, so it will be a crap shoot. I'm just stoked about the weather forecast for Saturday's game I'm going to, looks awesome!

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:55 AM) Ahh yeah that's true. I guess I keep ignoring that because I just can't believe it'll happen. right and until we start hearing rumors from a 2nd team of a S & T that is all but done, I don't think it really can happen.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Nobody is saying that is good enough to win a title. I didnt know winning championships was easy and to be expected. I guess we should blow the team up with our 2 rising stars and call it a decade because Chris Bosh didnt sign with the Bulls. but with the cap and how the NBA is structured you're want to be good enough to compete for an NBA title or terrible, being stuck in the middle is brutal and probably in all 4 major sports the hardest to pull yourself out of.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) I will say that I agree it still makes the most sense that LeBron come here of every situation out there. If he stays in Cleveland and takes the extra 30 million that's one thing. But if he goes somewhere else and it's not the Bulls? Good luck defending that. Well if he wants to win titles than you can easily defend him signing with the Heat, but between the Cavs, Knicks, Bulls and Nets I agree with you.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) At this point, I'll be fine with winning in the first round of the playoffs and a chance at the eastern conference finals. Really? I would rather them be one of the worst teams in the NBA than get stuck in that cycle.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Lee ending up anywhere in the NL East would be a godsend to the White Sox. I would do cartwheels if he ends up in the NL, Lee not going to the Twins or Tigers (i have no idea if the Tigers even have a realistic shot) could be the biggest trade deadline move for the White Sox

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) If you want a capsule of the emotional DNA of Soxtalk, check out the 50 posts after he walked off the field. 99.99999999 percent to I saw him say my elbow popped. one of the ugliest I've ever seen the board was a few weeks ago when his start had to be pushed back there were posters basically hoping he was injured

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) Screw "Thibbs", John Paxson, and Gar Forman. What happened to getting an experienced NBA head coach? This is doing to be VDN all over again. Was Byron Scott even interviewed? who knows how he'll work out, but he has been a respected assistant for years and years and had at least one other team ready to make him an offer this year to be a coach.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) Winnable! More winnable than yesterday by leaps and bounds! Let's have another ridiculous win streak. All in favor, say aye! AYE!!! sounds good to me, but the wrecking machine that is the KC Royals are coming in on Friday!!!!!!

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) Exactly. And as much as Chris Broussard is telling us he's going to Miami, I just can't see LeBron's ego allowing that to happen. Could they even afford to pay him a full boat? I think they have to clear some more room because I can't see him signing for less than Bosh did. This is why, knowing what we know at this minute, I would be surprised if he's going to Miami because once you start involving a second team for the S & T that opens it up to more leaks and I think something would have popped about a S & T.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) I'd be pretty suprised if LBJ doesn't either stay with Cleveland or go to the Knicks tomorrow. I could easily see that happening, would be a bad move IMO for this year at least, but I don't see how he wins a championship with the Cavs, but he'd be rolling the dice on other guys actually going there.
-
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) Bosh and Wade are not enough for the Heat to win a championship. They'll need more weapons than just those two. they could likely get LBJ, but I do agree with you, if LBJ stays in Cle the Heat are a mild threat in the east with those two and that's about it.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:03 AM) So what are you proposing then? At some point we'll need to lock up Rose and Noah. The key to this entire offseason was having cap space available to sign a couple marquee free agents before we have to give out any extensions. We might have another offseason where this is possible, but at some point in the near future this cap space will be gone. Personally, I don't see any problem in overpaying for Boozer or Lee. We desperately need a offensive-minded PF and I don't see what other options we have. their best bet is to be a suck-fest this year and try and get a top 5 pick... ugly option, but in the NBA it's the way it has to go sometimes.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) If the trade deadline comes by and the Sox can get an impact bat for Hudson and Peavy is still one or two starts from being back...does Torres take the spot or do the Sox go ballsy and use Sale? I haven't looked at a schedule but I'm basing this off the idea that the Sox have played a few less games than the Twins, I would imagine the Sox don't have a ton of off days or at least a double header or two, so unfortunately I think the 5th starter being skipped isn't going to be an option must. If that's true I would feel more comfortable with Hudson being rolled out there every 5th game. If it wouldn't have taken Hudson to get Laroche, I don't see how it could have, hopefully the Sox could score him, he contributes and Hudson becomes a solid starter and is never dealt, that has to be the best case scenario for the me in this situation (already helped that Peavy didn't hurt his shoulder or elbow)

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) I don't even know how to express how happy this makes me. he had this ridiculously awesome grin on his face the whole time too! Is there any way Pena would be better off as a starter? Maybe a guy who tries to overthrow/force pitches in a 1-2 inning scenario but is more relaxed and thus his stuff is better when he knows he's going to throw 4+ innings?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 09:54 AM) Well if you use a bunch of money to sign Boozer or Lee, you're stuck firmly in the NBA mediocre 5-8 seed range in the east position. I agree the Bulls had no choice but to blow it up and hope for a marquee guy, and you're also right that you can't compound your failures with the big 3 by forcing a bad signing. they had do to it, if they fail and LBJ goes back to Cle or to Mia then you just sit back and ride it out and suck, can't force it in the NBA, it's a boom or bust league.
-
Bulls had no choice but to blow it up and hope for a marquee guy, there's nothing worse in the NBA than being mediocre and constantly getting a 5-8 seed, basically your players are just good enough to eat up the cap and you have no chance of getting a high draft pick. With Kirk and #17 the team would be mediocre for years unless Rose and Noah take a MAJOR step. Honestly, at this point I would rather them not force a sign and be a bad team and see what shakes out, no point in being behind Mia, Orlando, Cle (if LBJ stays) because they could never beat any of them in the playoffs. Not the best scenario, but a better one than being stuck in the middle.

Shingo was on a replay of "Unbeatable Banzuke" on G4 today, it's a Japanese gameshow with wacky challenges, Shingo was riding a giant rubber ball around an obstacle course

LOL, I love where Bucher said he didn't know where the stuff about Tor not wanting to sign and trade with Mia came from when it came from ESPN... his employer!! It wasn't even like they were using an outside source on their bottom line, they were just reporting it as fact. Glazer uses extended tweets where you can go longer than 140, I think a lot of reporters should use that because they're trying to cram everything in and coming off clueless.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) LBJ just doesnt want to go anywhere or the Cavs are overconfident that LBJ doesnt want to go anywhere. Which is it? i think LBJ would prefer to stay but really does not want to come back and play with a similar roster he's been playing with the last few years, he probably realizes he can't win with it and is giving Cle all his support to try and make it better and if it doesn't happen he would leave. Why else hasn't he announced he's staying at this point? he's had a ton of media attention of that's all he was looking for.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:56 AM) I hate this guy with a passion. I hope we get wade just to f*** with him. Absolute garbage new-age journalist. He is a slob. my major problem with the tweet you quoted is there is nothing behind it, just a statement... is he basing this off new info? Is he just reacting to the story that Wade canceled an appearance for tomorrow?

sometimes I think some of this stuff is just cooked up by Cleveland writers because the lack of a shooter thing isn't that big in my book. It's not like a shooter on a Bulls team with LBJ would have to be a star or a guy that can create his own shot, I imagine the Bulls would be able to find one at an affordable cost, they may even get a good veteran player at a discount who is looking for a ring. LBJ knows what's going on, I don't think a lack of a shooter on the current roster would stop him from coming to the Bulls

ESPN is reporting Lebron was not at the 2nd NYK meeting, only some of his reps
