QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) miami has got to be crapping themselves with setting up for 3 max contracts and now possibly not getting any of those 3 There's people who followed numbers better than me, but I don't think they really did, I think they had to trade Beasley which never happened, again, so much info I could be wrong

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) He had an OPS well over .900 after the all-star break last year. It didn't seem to bother him then. But I agree. He's been arguably the worst everyday player in baseball. But that roster is terrible. Their saving grace is they've actually got some young talent to build around. good point about last year, I'm just looking for something because his falloff is historically bad and really unexplainable. Maybe the thumb is still really bad

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) The catalyst for this entire offseason is none other than Taj Gibson. As soon as he proved that he could be a serviceable NBA player, the priorities of this organization shifted. A decent four around Rose and Noah made this roster so much more appealing. exactly, and that's why the drumbeat about the Bulls was constant all year because they have the best in place roster

OK, FWIW, Boers and Bernstein is reporting that the Bulls made the initial contact for the 2nd meeting and were met with "enthusiasm"

OK, I will just type the B & B recap of today's for those behind: Amare to the Knicks Bulls secured the final meeting with LBJ Wade really was pissed and it screwed everything up with Amare to the Knicks Bulls are going to push the LBJ and Wade thing that's their recap, I know there are cap numbers and moves that would have to be made for scenarios to work, but looks like Amare taking a deal with NYK spun everything off

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) I think the Bulls may some how found themselves in the drivers seat. As gloomy as things looked, I feel like today Bosh, Wade realized that they could go to the Bulls and be contenders faster than in Miami. If they start to feel that the Bulls could get Lebron/ another player, Wade/Bosh in Miami may just be the NY Knicks when Jordan was with the Bulls. Close, but not good enough. Not all of them can be on the winning team, and maybe they are starting to feel that the Bulls + 2 superstars is the winning team regardless of who those 2 are. The only thing that is preventing me from agreeing with this is that they all can get more money with their own teams and realistically you can probably only see the Raptors agreeing to a sign and trade to alleviate that. With that said, it seems like the roster of Noah/Rose in place is showing to be the most intriguing, there's no other moving parts necessary to have those two guys in place

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:12 PM) I knew the Cubs were mediocre before the season. But wow! I figured they'd at least be in it all year in that division. It's inexcusable the lack of talent they have with their payroll. Not to say that Hendry hasn't really screwed that roster up, but Aramis completely being a suckfest this year has killed them, he drove that offense... IMO I don't think he's fully healed from that shoulder injury, it was nasty and even worse for a power hitter.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) ? how would that work? we just pay like 10s of millions in luxury tax? I think 2 of the 3 is the most realistic dream scenario, Miami about the same space couldn't work out the 3 max deals

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) Am I an idiot if I'd be disappointed if we ended up with Wade instead of Lebron? it kind of depends, what if at 9pm tonight the Bulls can guarantee Bosh and Wade or still be up in the air with LBJ

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) But this makes no sense. Miami wants to sign Lebron and I'm sure either have or will offer him the maximum amount they can offer him. Wade doesn't have to pressure Riley on that. spot on with that, Miami can't do any more at this point... I think I'm summing up Wojornowski (sp?) correctly about the Wade thing, basically with it looking like Amare opting for the NYK he got mad at the Heat for not doing enough and realized he could get stuck in Miami with absolutely nothing, if he signs with Chicago he is automatically on a better team and then LBJ or Bosh could come and make it crazy strong, Wade may be looking at a power play here.

Wojo is on Score right now, basically saying what is here already, but interesting add was said that LBJ looks like he doesn't want to go to Miami

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) There is also a report from Wallace saying Wade is using us as leverage with the second meeting to get Miami to sign LeBron soon. except it's comparing slot to slot, at this point Miami can't do a ton more to convince LBJ to sign quicker, especially since it sounds like the Bosh/Wade/LBJ thing in Miami seems highly unlikely know and I don't think signing Boozer would speed it up. It sounds like the Amare thing really screwed everything up and this is all fluid more than before

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) Hmm do you think that some how Wade is now pissed at Miami that they arent making him the man and are more concerned about getting Lebron? I heard it's more about Amare going to NYK, he's pissed that it fell through... Jason Goff also reporting that Noah was a sticking point with a sign and trade to the Raptors, but that is no longer the case.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) f***ing huge. If we could land Wade, I'd say screw it and land him and Bosh. At this point I don't want to get shut out. I'm giddy. I want LBJ, but I'll take Wade and Boozer/Bosh/Lee. I agree with that, if after the 2nd meeting tonight they can guarantee wade and bosh, you do it and move on

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) With the big deal about loyalty, I'm not even talking about the Bulls... I can't see LeBron bolting to another team BEFORE meeting with Cleveland, even if its for the final time. B & B are making it sound like now the bulls will be last tomorrow, even after the Cavs. Anyone pick up the story, it was eluded to on the radio but didn't hear the whole thing, something about Riley's presentation to Lebron and showing him championship rings, they made it sound like Wade didn't like it and didn't think it was enough

Jason Goff saying Wade's second meeting really has to do with Wade being pissed Amare is going to NYK, he thought he had assurances he was going to Miami and doesn't want to get stuck.

That top of the 7th was a joke, easily one of the worst innings I've seen in MLB baseball in awhile, 9 runs on three hits for the Reds and none of the pitches the Cubs were walking guys on were really even close.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) A person like LeBron has people come to him. He doesnt need to have connections. Especially if he as a couple championship rings. exactly, my guess would be that Nike has some pretty kick ass connections globally

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 11:16 AM) The more I read about the Nets new owner, the more I believe Lebron could end up there. A 45-year old jet-setting self-made billionaire... with a personal net worth that might be greater than most (or all) of the other NBA owners combined? I could picture his sales pitch on how to take Lebron global and help him join the billionaire boys club might be too tempting to say no. it could also work against him since the owner would always be the alpha dog when it came to money at jet setting

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 09:08 AM) Pat Riley seems awful confident that LeBron is going to Miami, it seems. He's been going around telling power forwards that if they come to Miami, they'll get to play with LBJ and Wade. it could also be one of those things where LBJ's people told Miami that they need a power forward in place before he even considers it, so Riley is trying to get that locked down.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 09:54 AM) @PDcavsinsider- Here's what I hear from yesterday: LeBron interested in Nets pitch but not so much NY. NY trying at moment to secure Amare' to help cause haha, yeah, not surprised to hear that, both the pitches are kind of a joke, but especially the 2nd one.

NBA Offseason Thread
The whole NYK pitch, especially the 2nd option as an extreme example, is why so many pundits and NBA people said the Bulls have a decent shot at landing him IF he leaves Cle. Basically most teams have to say something about moving X and Y player to get Z or next year we'll have cap room basically the Bulls can say extremely simply... 1) Look at our roster, with you added alone we are the clear cut favorites in the East, better than anyone else without 5 things having to fall into place. 2) Have someone else committed already, I'll use Boozer because he's not expected to be a max guys and the Bulls can do this without another move and just say we've got Boozer, let's add you and dominate for 5 years and you'll make the Bulls an elite multi-generation franchise like the Celtics and Lakers.
