  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) LoL. The game thread that North Side Baseball reached 1.5 pages. funniest was during yesterdays game thread there they were actually debating who had the better starting 5
  2. may be goofy long game since there's a chance of rain all afternoon
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) Trading him 1 month early saves about $1mil. I think it depends on how good the spects are, and White Sox mid tier spects arent good enough to convince me (if I was Arizona) to trade now, instead of taking a wait and see approach. Conversely, the Sox would save $1mil if they dont trade till the end of the month, and I think the Sox are kind of strapped themselves. (Edit) Its no problem and I actually dislike it too, and was surprised that I did it, but I was just being lazy and trying to get the point across that if our GM did what people said on a message board, wed never even be here. I disagree with this, before the season and last week JR said there's money for an impact player, also with this streak they will get more people in, heck the Braves series drew well for the a mid week Sox series and one of those games had a two hour typhoon!
  4. if you want a night or two away from home use hotels.com or the like and you can get excellent hotels in the city for dirt cheap if you do it a day or two in advance, have used it for weddings in the city when I decided to stay down instead of taking the train back and have got some really nice hotels for a ridiculously low price
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) It doesn't help when Buster Olney is reporting that the Sox were "open for business" and ready to sell off veterans. You also really need to stop using the word "everyone" I absolutely hate that. Not every person lost hope, hell iamshack has been behind this team from the very beginning and stuck with them even when we started getting reports that the Sox were ready to White Flag it. s*** we had a "buyers" thread when we were about 9 games back. And for the record: I agree with you about the tone of the thread, there's really no rush as of right now. "paging Kenny" seems like a poor choice of words. thank you for commenting on people throwing around "everyone." I didn't think they would rip off 11 straight and counting, but my posts prove I thought this team would make some sort of surge and stick around.
  6. I have no doubt KW is actively attempting to make this team better
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 06:16 PM) He needs help. Seriously. eh, there's a difference between being crazy and just being a prick, I wouldn't be shocked if he goes somewhere like the LAD if they can add some payroll and he excels again.
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) I never thought i'd say this but if we can get a power lefty bat and a decent 2nd lefty for the pen, i like your chances against anyone. Also, Zambrano seems to have crossed a line with Lou today, this is a story worth watching. no doubt, they'll have to eat a minimum of 50% of that contract to move him. I obviously love what this team is doing, but I agree for the long-term a semi-big move needs to happen, although starting tomorrow I think Dayan has to go back to AAA or he has to be the regular DH with 3rd and 1st sprinkled in, I have seeing him sit on the bench at this point in his career
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 06:05 PM) I agree. Nothing like using your eyes. But I've missed a few of his starts and couldn't use my own eyes. The advanced stats helped a lot. yeah, no doubt, a smart combination of advanced stats and eyes have made it a lot of fun to follow baseball for me the last few years. posted this in the Cubs thread, but worth here also since it was in the game, Cubs suspended Z indefinitely.
  10. Hendry just announced Z is suspended indefinitely... good god, they are going to get killed on that money if they have to move him, the Soriano contract and his alone could cripple that team for awhile
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) I love Sabermetrics. Five years ago it would be nearly impossible to see that Jake wasn't pitching nearly as badly as the superficial numbers implied. Sabermetrics showed and proved that a correction was imminent. That's why I kept faith. yeah, I enjoy following stats too but also watching him pitch also told me that... he wasn't pitching awesome, but just seeing him pitch also told me he wasn't done, but definitely the stats help support that argument!
  12. What a good game to start off another series, JFP didn't give that dead lineup a chance and gave Jenks/Putz/Thornton a rest day. Q is on fire right now, hopefully Beck can turn it around a little and Rios with a huge double in the 2nd.
  13. usually athletic shorts t and flip flops or no shoes (the bottom of my feet are broken in from training) but if I go out I usually wear pants of some sort, more because a lot of places have their ACs set to ice box.
  14. biggest thing to come out of yesterday was the Cubs had to use up their pen and Z hasn't gone deep in a game all year, hopefully there's some long ABs early in the game
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) Indeed. It's ridiculously overplayed, means absolutely nothing. I think it means a little, but most players say the 2nd game is when they feel it, usually after a crazy night of travel and little sleep they get through that first game fine, but for some reason it hits them the 2nd game of a series.
  16. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Ah I see.. I just tried it and you're right... It isn't working. Maybe it has something to do with them moving into the new studio?? it is the move, they've had problems since the move, B & B elude that it's basically in and out... hopefully there's no overreaction to this series if the Cubs take 2 of 3, although the fact that they had extra innings and had to rip through their pen yesterday was positive. This is how I look at the season, I thought the Sox would be a good team with the roster they had and be in contention with the Twins and Tigers and a big trade will sway the fortunes of the division. I see the winning streak as a correction of the horrible start, and even dropping 2 out of 3 against the Cubs, basically a death spasm series for the Cubs, won't mean the season is over.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) I wouldn't want to drop either. Just put them in their proper roles. exactly, Kotsay has a history of being a good pinch hitter, I would have no problem with him on this team as a bench player, hate to see him batting 3rd
  18. any of the opti-frees work for me, usually use replenish or refresh, using the express right now because it was 2 for 1 of the big bottles... I have monthly disposables, usually average a month, sometimes get 5-6 weeks or 2-4 out of pair, kind of depends on a few things... they work great for me, I never need daily drops or anything.
  19. The Sox aren't going to win or lose anything due to a back-up lineup one day a week, I think it's a good idea to get the players some rest.
  20. MLBN showed a hysterical clip from the Astros/Giants game... the ball boy down the line in RF gets a foul ball walks about 50 feet back past tons of kids begging for the ball, waves down a hot blonde and gives it to her, the analysts were going crazy, it was really funny.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) They don't really worry me. I see no reason why LBJ and D-Wade would want to lessen their star power. Everything I hear says that Amare is all but a lock for Miami, meaning that according to the great Jalen Rose (who is tight with Wes) its down to the Bulls and sharing a city with the Champs. I agree with you on Lebron and Wade, I just don't see those two working together ego wise and I think they both know it.
  22. Castro completely boots a slightly above average grounder late in the game yesterday and Len and Bob couldn't make enough excuses for him, ie weird bounce, spin and why they are doing it they're showing the replay and none of that is really there, at best the ball stayed down on him a little. I know he's only 20, but that cat has a long way to go on defense, granted it's only a small sample, but what I've seen he doesn't look comfortable or fluid there
  23. Two Escobars was good, I probably would have enjoyed it a little more if I hadn't read the book and saw the doc on A & E "Killing Pablo" because a decent portion was rehashed but not at as deep as I was familiar with because of the sports connection being established in this one... again though, very well done.
