QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 12:29 AM) Dunn would be great, but I don't think he's going to be as easy to get as you think. The Nats apparently have tons of money to throw around, and they want to contend the next two years. Plus Dunn has said he doesn't want to leave. Also, who do we give up? It would take the precious few prospects we have. Dunn could always resign with the Nats if he has such a hard-on for them, if a deal goes down for Dunn to any team it would be initially a rent-a-player type deal, Dunn's not a type of player where renegotiation windows are put in before trades... I don't think it will take a ton to get him, bats move basically every trade deadline and I can't think of any of Dunn's level, which is good, but great, that were moved for top tier prospects. Angels and a few of the NL West teams would likely be suitors as well, but it's not like he would be the only bat on the market.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 12:23 AM) When Ozzie says day to day I think week to week. when has that happened before? It may have, I just can't think of any specific examples off the top of my head. For the most part the Sox are extremely straightforward with injury news.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 12:12 AM) In a perfect world: LF Pierre 2B Beckham CF Rios DH Dunn 1B Konerko RF Quentin C Pierzynski SS Ramirez 3B Vizquel/Viciedo that's completely realistic. Someone crunched the numbers the other day and they've set it up so most of Strausburgh's (sp?) starts will be at home and he'll basically pay for his bonus in about 10 home starts, so they don't have to attempt to keep fans happy by keeping Dunn around or any other similar charade.... also, he'll probably be very reasonable to obtain.

I am a huge Adam Carolla fan, have been for years, and I think they'll keep tinkering with it as they go along... I think the solo guest was getting old to a point because they put one out every day and really didn't have a guest of that quality for everyday. As far as it goes now, I like that they added the news and some of the little games they play, but what they really need to do is when the guest comes in have Teressa leave or shut her mic off. When the guest comes in she cuts Adam off, brings up things that have already been discussed, etc... the best example I can think of was when Bobby Lee the comedian was on about 2-3 weeks ago... the first 10 minutes of that interview is a complete cluster F because of Teressa, she tries to act like a co-host too much instead of sidekick. Also, I went to Adam's live podcast from the Park West last Thursday, it was a lot of fun. he did about an hour and a half with maybe about 10 minutes of pre-recorded videos from things like Crank Yankers and the Man Show. He had a good turnout, it was a real good time. Also met Donnie and Adam, talked to Donnie for awhile, very nice and appreciative of all the support, Adam was quick after the show, got a pic with him, again, very nice and appreciative.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Peavy's MRI came back clean and the ailment is now being described as an "achy shoulder". His next start -- which was supposed to be tomorrow -- WILL be pushed back to either Friday or Saturday in Washington. very good to hear, maybe Ptac can add a little to what the MRI could show and what further tests might be done if it continues... to me the most ridiculous thing was having him warm up so quickly at home a few weeks back, Hawk and Stone said it was the quickest they saw a SP ever warm up, should have started Pena for an inning or two if necessary

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Where is this 'possible surgery' coming from? Let's not overreact, he probably wants to play against Strasburg. Ok in all seriousness if this is something bad he doesn't pitch day after his scheduled start. with the info we have know, that's where I'm sitting... if my memory serves me correctly didn't they adjust his throwing/off day schedule a few starts ago? Could be a reaction to that.

here's a question I have of those who might know how the day-to-day media works with Ozzie... I assume this came out in the pre-game meeting with Ozzie the press usually has, often these are showed during the game, in Chicago it usually happens in the dugout... so if Ozzie said this during that, was there follow up questions or are these types of things usually just statements from Ozzie? Because it seems odd that, even if 99% of them don't expect a "yes his arm is blown out" answer, don't you have to ask if it's a major injury and then you report NC was given for extent of injury?
-
QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) He said that Buehrle might go tomorrow, with Peavy going Friday. If this turns out to be true than that would quash some of my fears over a major arm injury, even if it's something nagging that might require a skipped start or two, I doubt they would run him out if they actually thought it was TJ or a labrum
-
few things I would listen for in the next few hours/days... "Peavy is coming back to Chicago to be checked out" and not really nailing down a specific day on which his start is being pushed. It's not quite like last year where they had Carassco who could start at a moments notice, I guess they could use Pena in a similar role, but he would probably only be able to go 4 at the most.

Cowley was just on, did he add anything?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Now will Cleveland hiring Byron Scott over Izzo help or hurt the Bulls chances. Sam Smith thinks it hurts the Bulls chances because of the way Scott treats his star players. I have inside info on Scott which is why I constantly bash him. The guy is a POS of a head coach, imo. Just doesn't possess the communication ability to be an elite head coach. And as a coach he ain't all that great either. when it was the Izzo/Scott debate going on nobody in the media was saying that Scott is going to give them some great advantage with Lebron, lots of hinting around about Scott, so sounds like your info is dead on

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 12:37 PM) I didn't like all the hugging and I thought Cro Cop absolutely schooled him. Berry knocked him down twice and decided to wait for him instead of finishing him? It was great for the public/tv but that's not how you win fights. Berry is kind of small to impact much at HW, he was a perfect matchup for Cro Cop, wanted to keep it standing, couldn't finish him and terrible ground game, being finished in the UFC with a RNC with no hooks or any bottom body control is really inexcusable... with that said, I hope the UFC keeps him around, he is a great guy to have on cards to match-up with other bangers.

on B& B today Boers teased new Lebron/Bulls info, but I had to jump on a phone conference, anyone hear it?

Cardinals looking for pitching. MB to Cards?

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) The SP with the most value is Danks. One of the top LHP in the AL, young and under team control, and inexpensive. I think he would be a good match with a team like the Reds maybe in a package with Jenks or Putz. only way you trade Danks at this point is if extension talks completely fall through... why would you trade a young pitcher you have under some control for another year or two to get prospects? -
QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 01:34 AM) ugh. I hope the UFC gives Shogun the time he needs to heal instead of giving another joke interim title fight to Evans and whoever. depending on how long he's out, I'm ok with interim titles, it gives a 5 round fight against two top contenders and it keeps the division moving

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) We have two starters in Floyd and Danks that are the by-product of good scouting. We also have a kid in Daniel Hudson waiting in the wings that we developed ourselves, just waiting to assume a rotation spot beside those two. yeah, not saying the Sox haven't had any success, but are you willing to bet the next year or two of the franchise on this teams scouting and development and also how good of a MLB ready prospect are people expecting to get for MB and the remaining contract? Hudson, hope he does well, but still has to prove it start in and start out and also can't expect Freddy to give what he's giving this year or to be able to resign him. If they trade MB, lose Freddy or he's not as effective you have 1-3 with Hudson at 4 and a hole at 5. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 12:59 PM) That sounds an awful lot like the Cubs' annual cry, "Wait til next year!" It's all a fluke til the end of April when we are 8 games back again. no, not at all. The Sox have 4 proven MLB starters at relatively good ages locked up for another year, what's the alternative? Trade these guys for prospects? OK, well this org hasn't shown the ability to consistently develop or scout young talent. Say they save some payroll, who are they going to get? More offense? Any good SP will cost what MB is due. Say they trade MB or any of the other 3, what do they come back with next year? Hudson is no guarantee nor is any starter they are likely to get back in a trade. I'm not a fan of trading for trading sake and I don't see a better alternative. Just looking at the history of the org and the viable alternatives, I think it might be the best option. Now of course there's always caveats, ie a team makes a ridiculous trade offer, etc. "Wait til' next year" is something a Cubs fan says when reaching for another beer and think it's cute to say, I actually gave a reason, the 4 starters are proven MLB veterans -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) Brewers win on a Cubs error on a bunt with Carlos Gomez running on the play. Cubs handed that game to the Brew Crew, Castro had a bad error that kept an inning alive scoring the 4th run and the pitchers walked the world today.

I would have zero problem if the White Sox limit the starters innings and bring back Peavy, Floyd, Danks and MB next year and hope some of this was just a fluke... all 4 of those still have a lot of talent and starting 2011 with them at the start of the rotation is OK with me. -

Really guys? I was away from the internet and local media for about 3 days and even went a little back in the thread to see if I missed something and it's like a page of unclever slams that I made a mistake that I apologized for a few posts later? Awesome.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) http://artisena.com/files/image/news/2008/...ion_-_Front.jpg thanks Knight... yeah Squirt, since there's no tone to posts, let me make it clear that I don't think the guy ripped it off or it's lame, it's good artwork. Just wanted to give you a heads up that certain people might mention it to you.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) Thanks! Well it's no big secret on these boards that I'm vegan so I came up with a generic idea of a role reversal tattoo. I couldn't really come up with a concrete design of what it would look like so I asked the artist, Ryan Flaherty from Insight Studios, to come up with something that got my message across. He drew it up from scratch and I was blown away. not that there's anything wrong with inspiration, but it is extremely similar, a little darker and more detailed than, a NOFX album cover from the 90's.

lol, sorry guys, I was in Wisconsin far away from communications and just heard it on the score
