  1. who's pitching for the Cards tomorrow? Hopefully Wainwright or Garcia
  2. starting to get to the rookie, Fox broadcasters said they had a plan B guy they called up, I would imagine he is warming up
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) Some Little League-esque defense by the Cardinals this inning. Schumaker whiffed on the easy out at 2nd, and then the awful throw home. The Cardinals are a very confusing team this year. Not a lot of energy on the field, where as the Reds have a ton of energy. in the division they have superior talent, so it might take an extend push from the Reds or Cubs during the summer to show some energy, they might have read their clippings.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Cain also has thrown two straight shutouts, so his ERA is going to plummet. Silva's been sensational this year, no other way to describe it. he's been a very good pitcher only way I would use a 127 ERA+ pitcher as "sensational" is considering the expectations of him coming into the season... I reserve "sensational" for upper echelon pitchers, which he is not. Again, I'm not ripping on the guy, it's worked out tremendously for the Cubs, but if he starts to regress a little it shouldn't shock anyone.
  5. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 29, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) The more I think about it, the more I dont care who wins. I really dont like either so I hope someone gets KOed. well barring a major injury that takes awhile to heal up, the winner is getting a title shot, so there has to be interest at that level.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 29, 2010 -> 12:09 PM) They really need to do something about that Super-2 rule because it truly has gotten to the point where teams aren't bringing up their best players to retain a year of service. It's stupid and I really don't think it's good for the game at all. I definitely see your point and agreeing some tweeking needs to be done, but I also thing with no salary cap, there has to be some protection for the smaller market clubs.
  7. Silva has a 127 ERA+, which makes him about 27% better than an average starting pitcher. Now that's obviously a TON more than I'm sure the Cubs were expecting, but it's not like he's a freakin' Cy Young candidate that many are making him out to be. His record is throwing everyone off, but records can be misleading for starters, compare his record to Matt Cain's and 100% of GMs would take Cain every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Again, for ditching Bradley and making about 2m out of the deal the Cubs should be thrilled.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 29, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) Some men prefer Caucasian women to African-American women. It doesn't make them wrong or right. It just is. Now, when you are stuck choosing between Rosie O'Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg, you should probably choose abstinence; it's just too bad the White Sox have had both. I think people are overlooking the D aspect a little. Both have below average arms, but to me, it seems Juan is a much better LF than Pods, he gets to a lot more balls both in the air and cutting off... again, my position with the Pods/Pierre thing is with the way the SP has been erratic and how Quentin and Beckham fell flat on their faces out of the gate, the Pods/Pierre thing, either way, wouldn't make a huge difference.
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 29, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) Pretty much. He actually made alot of enemies in his own hometown with those statements. Only thing he might do to make it right is become a Bull himself which many don't see happening now. Wade tipped his hand, so as far as I'm (and I'm sure alot of people) he still will be a Heat player recruiting people. Plus I never took New York seriously as a place for him, no matter how much he and the Knicks brass. (and Wade himself) tries to "sell" it. (I'll believe it when he signs on their dotted line) completely agree that he is 99.9% set in Miami. I know there's talk of James/Wade together in Miami or NJ or NY, but I don't see it. I just flat out can't see those egos working together.
  10. Jason Williams stepped up for the Bulls org today and said how loyal the team was after his motorcycle accident and that the Bulls had nothing that made them stand by him and see him through his rehab with money and training support. I really think Wade doesn't want to come to Chicago and he wants to stay in Miami but realizes that Chicago is an extremely attractive destination for any of the top FAs so he's trying to make them look bad.
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 28, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) Two events in 24 hours with Dream starting in 3 hours. Sakuraba is probably my favorite fighter of all time and I hope he doesnt lose to Rorion's son. Not really excited about 114 outside of the main event. But I think Rampage will catch Evans at some point in the fight. one of the most potentially explosive fights is Diabate/Cane. It's not scheduled for Spike or the PPV, but if that fight pops up on either broadcast I will be glued to the set.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) That was some pitching by Freddy today. the way he was changing speeds was great, some of their hitters looked like they had no clue what was going on when they were swinging.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) He's too valuable in those big-out situations in the 6th-8th to save for the final inning of play but in future games like today where he wasn't needed until the final out of the 8th he's the best option we have for those final 3 outs. even with how great he was today, I agree, if they want to move Jenks out of there, I think they have to give Putz some chances
  14. Freddy and Rios!!! What a difference it is to have a legit CF'er playing D for this team!
  15. Started beginning of March, ended last Saturday. Did tone where only % of body fat loss counted, went from 209 to 189 and 21% body fat to 14.4%, 31% of my total starting body fat. The 14.4 was probably a little high reading too, it's a electronic machine and has about 3% error range, today it read 12.8%.
  16. MLB couldn't justify suspending MB or Ozzie without suspending West, they probably didn't feel like suspending an umpire.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) I was thinking the same, seems like he does a ton of damage at Wrigley. 20 games, 63 AB, 5 HR, 22 RBI, .365 BA, 1.131 OPS and a 163 OPS+ at The Urinal, that's getting it done.
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) Funny thing is, he is doing what most people think the sox players should do... not listen to their hitting coach. And Jaramillo is considered one of the best (if not the best) in the game. A-Ram also had a real bad shoulder injury last year, and he'll be 32 next month. People just kind of expected to bounce back 100% from a shoulder injury, for a slugger like that it was a real bad injury.
  19. Flyout, K, K, Motte cleaned it up
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 28, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) It's 8 million for this and next year. Is that what the White Sox actually owe? I know the Dodgers threw in a decent amount of cash, but 4m per year from the Sox sounded about right
  21. Brenley on the broadcast said he thought A-Ram should go on the DL because of, i believe he said, his thumb. All I know is I haven't watched a ton of Cubs this year, but what I've seen, A-Ram looks terrible at the plate.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ May 27, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) You know Jordan hasn't said that much lately. It's probably something little Jordan mentioned &, D-Wade trying to make it a big deal. D-Wade is obviously staying in Miami & hoping he can convince Lebron to join him. Other then staying in Cleveland, which I think Lebron is ready to leave, playing with D-Wade, or D-Rose, Noah, & Company are the best options!! With "Lebron's Team" following the Jordan blue print, I see no reason why he wouldn't come to Chicago. He can open up Jordan's Old Restaurant, call it LBJ-6, he can take Oprah's Water Tower Place, & he'll be all set!! Jordan can't say a ton because he is an NBA owner... while the Lebron/Wade or Bosh in some form looks great on paper, I don't think it would work once egos get involved, obviously not talking on-court, talking about the off court stuff.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) No Ethier and Ramirez in Dodgers lineup = extremely weak offense. And you wonder why mediocre pitchers in the NL put up good numbers. The more I watch Padres games, the more I'm convinced that Javy Vazquez would have been a potential HOF candidate if he pitched there his entire career. The wind is also blowing basically straight in, looked slightly left to right field, but the flags were pretty taut
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 27, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) Just heard on the Score that D-Wade says the Bulls aren't loyal and that loyalty is important to him because he's a loyal person. He uses Pippen and Jordan not being around the organization as an excuse. Really Dwyane? Really? Maybe M.J. could have been a little more loyal and not have retired at age 34 and then come back three years later to another team. Maybe you shouldn't call yourself loyal because you're obviously not the cleanest guy around when it comes to marriage. yeah, that's silly, they brought Pippen back at the end of his career, Pax has a prominent role with the team, Cartwright was around for awhile, Pete Meyers is still with the org., BJ Armstrong was in the front office for awhile, probably a few other examples I'm missing. Jordan wanted to take the next step and be an owner, the Bulls are a valuable franchise, just because Jordan helped make it valuable, and got paid extremely well do to so, doesn't mean the owners should have been strong-armed into giving him some ownership, there wasn't a fit. I don't think Wade wants to play back in his hometown, which I can understand, and is just saying this, because the facts aren't there.
  25. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 26, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) No matter how bad Pods' May has been, it's still leaps and bounds better than Pierre's April. Also, Pierre's May is still not on the level of Pod's April. It's asinine to say that Pods hasn't been the better player this year. However, I agree with others and would rather have someone outside of the two leadoff, but if I had to choose, I'd take Pods (not to mention his cheaper contract and the fact we'd still have a pretty decent pitching prospect in Ely still in the system). that would be debatable if he was still with the Sox, the Sox wanted him back but he reportedly wanted multi-years to return to the White Sox, so it might not be fair to use his KC contract as a gauge... also, Pierre is a much better OF'er IMO than Pods, both their arms suck, and Pierre is better at fielding. Their 2010 WARs to this point... Juan is .5 and Pods .4 but as I've stated before, with how the White Sox 2 and 3 hitters started the year Pods vs. Pierre isn't really what crippled this offense
