http://content.usatoday.com/communities/mm...ematch/1?csp=34 Good interview with Dana White... most interesting thing to me is him saying when WEC adds flyweights (125) the UFC will absorb the 155 fighters.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:14 PM) i just want to remind everyone that we just got swept by the indians. yeah, I think most of us remember that, but there's also 149 games left in the season, and as a poster said above, this team can play better... will they or at least do it quickly enough? Who knows.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 08:35 AM) EVery year, my company rents out Great America for employees only and today is the day! No line! Woohoo! yeah, my friend's father worked for Com Ed for years and they use to do that too and get a few guest passes, it is awesome!

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) Viciedo 2-4. Hitting .256. I see him as more of a .275 hitter, so i'm not ready to write him off just yet. you're not ready to write a 20 or 21 year old off in his 2nd year of professional baseball? Way to walk out on a limb.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
SoxFan562004 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Hawks can absolutely not let Nashville own the puck below the circles in their own zone, the Preds were far to comfortable with the puck down there. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) Well, we're missing Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee is still on the DL. I guess that's a positive. yes, it's a huge positive and quirks like that can turn stuff around... hell a Q hot streak at this point would do it. The one thing that really needs to stop and is the Kotsay fiasco, he can't hit 5th or 3rd. IMO Ozzie needs to just role out his best potential hitters in there or a guy on a hot streak, Rios, Jones and Q should play every game at this point

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) It's not about standings and how many games out they are. It's about a team that can't hit, a bullpen that can't finish a six-out save, and a manager that bats Kotsay 5th and 3rd in the lineup. These are legitimate concerns. And I'm sorry to rag on the bullpen, because the overall numbers are good, but they've had two games where they needed to finish it off, and they didn't. If they did, the Sox would be pretty close to .500. Plus the fact that they are 1-5 against the Indians. That's a bad sign. don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Sox are a stellar team and there aren't signs of concern, but at this point of the season they can have one good week and a lot of those fears would be put to rest, I'm just trying to point out that the season isn't over and maybe if they continue to trend like this in about two weeks it's over, but right now let's see how they do this week.
-
the Sox are 5 games out after all this crying and hand wringing and there's 149 games left. Don't get me wrong, this is definitely not trending well, but I'm not ready to chalk up the season just yet. After many on this site wanted to hand Pavano the Cy Young he kind of remembered he is Carl Pavano today. Again, I'm not guaranteeing some miraculous turn around, but 5 games isn't the end of the world and a good week by the White Sox and an average week by the Twins and it's could easily be a "surging" white sox team this time next week.
-
yeah, the Sox are an impossible to make-up 5 games out now with 149 games left... look I'm not saying this is going well at this point, but over their careers Pods and Pierre have been roughly the same player, 4.7 to 4.8 RCG, so let's not take a 13 game sample of a guy who has been injury prone and go crazy. Also, Pods could be on base as much as he wants, with some of the middle of the line-up struggles lately it wouldn't make a difference, he's not that type of impact player... Juan was on in the 1st and then on 2nd and he was stranded, not really his fault.
-
well, the early ratings are in and it completely bombed with adults 18-49, their only hope is that somehow the specific demos are amazing, but little chance of that.
-
so, this is the same Twins team the Sox played 3 close games with last weekend? (was it 3 one run games? I was out of town for the first two games) That team is the one that is worlds better than any team in the AL but the NYY and the Sox are terrible? It's early.

wow, it's early, but that game sucked. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) No one is going to touch that contract unless a boatload of money gets thrown in with it. oh yes, I agree, that's why I thought it was funny/odd that they include "trade" in the article... he may be done, but when has that stopped Cubs fans from dreaming!!

I am almost done with Andre Agassi's book, it's a very good read, interesting story

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
SoxFan562004 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 09:08 AM) Let's hope the Hawks have better luck than the rest of the top seeds have had this playoffs. Exactly, anyone who is use to NBA playoffs and are new to NHL playoffs should have been watching the last two nights, upsets are not that uncommon in the NHL... -
http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/...ano?eref=fromSI a quick blurb from SI.com about the how bad Soriano is and possibility of Cubs trading or releasing him, the only thing I think of when I see this is the awesome trade scenarios some of the Cubs fans are going to come up with.... "Soriano for Pujols, that way the Cards can have a bat and not worry about signing him to the extension, we may have to throw in Fotenot though!!!"

I'm not sure if it's still open, but Ringo in Lincoln Park/DePaul area was good and affordable... also look around, many good ones are B.Y.O.B. due to the limit of liquor licenses in Chicago

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Which is just about to happen. well, the Brewers gave them 5 outs in the 9th, but they still managed to only score 1 run
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) I predict midway through the season Zambrano will LITERALLY implode into a heaping pile of dust. that would be awesome, but I agree, I am expecting a MAJOR meltdown from him this year, like on the level of they may be forced to trade him and eat a ton of that salary level meltdown
-
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) Not watching the game but the wind is blowing out at about 20 - 30 mph. Oh Big Z why do you tease the minion so? The Reds may have a shot at this division if their bullpen can be productive. I do like them, but if St. Louis stays healthy, even with a good pen in Cincy, the Cards are the dominant team in that division, not if Carpenter gets ouchy or Holliday or Albert, then it's a free for all
-
If the Cards stay relatively healthy, they run away with this division, the other teams aren't even close IMO. I know that's stating the obvious, but the Brewers and Cubs BPs are horrible (I would give the edge to the Cubs simply because of Marmol), but if the Cubs starters aren't going to go 7-8 consistently, they will struggle to win this year

Ex white sox who are good bullpen guys now
SoxFan562004 replied to ozzfest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ozzfest @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 12:01 AM) this isn't criticizing our bullpen, i was just talking with a friend about this,,.... I'll get it started.... Frank Fransisco David Aardsma Jon Rausch Nick Masset I wonder if other teams can make a similar list, often times BP guys are kind of fringe guys who flamed out or changed their style, and sometimes that takes a move to another org or two to pan out. -
to me, whether they made the playoffs tonight or not, the season was already as success because Rose took another step in his game, hopefully they can add a quality FA or two in the summer!

Did the Sox score too many runs tonight?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) Pessimism runs very high here. Even when we win 11-1, people are looking for bad news. no kidding, I'm surprised nobody started a "Danks should have pitched a CG game" thread
